So I was making one more "batch" of Alissa's chili (freezing and stockpiling for the winter), when i had measued and followed the recipe,or so I thought. Re-reading I realized that I should have blended the soaked/pitted dates, sun-dried tomatoes AND onions. Well I realized that my 1/4 cup of onions was in the bowl NOT in the food processor.
So, I fished out each and every teeny piece of onion from the mixture and blended them! It makes that much of a difference in this recipe!
What are some of your foh-pahs with recipes?

As far as faux pas....s.... go, I forgot to put the lid on my vitamix once when making a green smoothie, so I had a green kitchen.

Didn't latch the lid on the food processor quite well enough when making banana icrecream - had frozen naner chunks flying around the kitchen :o

I forgot to put the pulp catcher on my juicer. I had celery/carrots flying everywhere. worse part is...I couldn't understand where it was coming from. need to be awake to use good for the body appliances.:D

First time I made almond milk, silly me, used to straining liquid to get rid of it, suddenly realized I was pouring the milk through the bag . . . right down the drain. I was thinking "this is great, my first almond milk" when I realized I was holding a bag of wet pulp in my hand and nothing else.

Well, as I mentioned in my Alissa and Annie thread, just yesterday I didn't read the recipe carefully enough and started off in the blender when the recipe clearly said food processor. For me, every faux pas comes from not reading carefully!

Okay this is a cooked recipe, but it has to be the best faux paux I have ever done. I was making these vegan Apple streusel muffins. I read the recipe and it said apple cider vinegar 1/2 cup. I thought to myself that sure seems like a lot. I looked at it again to verify. Sure enough. Well this was the first time making them and I proceeded on even double checking, still thinking that that sure did seem like an awful lot of apple cider vinegar. Whatever, move on and get them baking. OMG!!! The whole house reeked of vinegar and so did the muffins I looked again at the recipe and it said *apple cider*....no vinegar!!! :-( I guess I was so accustomed to apple cider vinegar that my brain just filled in the blank there. Yes, we did eat some, but they were nothing like was intended in the cookbook and yes they did taste like apple cider vinegar! I thought that I would never get that smell out of the house.
