I have been raw for a year and my cramps are worst now then when I ate meat. The only time I saw any relief is when I was Cooked food vegan for 3 years. I recently began eating cooked food to say funds during a rough financial time, and i had very little cramps with only a few days of eating cooked foods. Cramps are why I changed my eating habits, so what's going on? As a raw vegan I am literally refined to my bed and medications seems to loose their effects. When I eat cooked foods the medications over the counter work fine. What am I missing?

Teraw,

it would help to know where the cramps are at...legs, abdomen, etc. Are they daily?

I see it as your body just trying to talk to you and tell you what it needs. I know someone who got cramps from not getting enough postassium. I hope the answer to your problem is that simple.

Are you craving new foods lately? Listen quietly to your body and see what it's telling you. This has helped me.

Lol, I was really hurting when I typed this message. My cramps are of the mentrual kind. Aunt Flo really brings it when she visits.

Now that I have a clearer head I can make a better assessment. My mentrual cramps are more painful when I am raw because over the counter pain killers loose their effects when I am eating raw. I have noticed this for headaches as well. I used to rid myself of a headache in about 30 minutes with Excedrin, now I must sleep it off because I will wait all day for Excedrin to kick in and it never does while eating raw.

Back to my cramps....when I am eating raw I have more pain, but I only have the first day to deal with it and it's gone by the morning. When eating cooked food I am bearing the pain for 2-3 days although it's mild on the 1st day, the heat definitely gets turned up after that.

My guess? Stick with raw and in a few months you will have no cramps.

Then I would say you are definitely healing on RAW, and you're not doing yourself any favors by eating cooked food and not sticking to RAW.

I have advanced Endometriosis. I would LOVE to be one of those lucky girls who no longer experiences ANY bleeding or cramps because of 100% RAW, and I have set my intentions accordingly. :D

I have ALSO noticed that when I'm 100% RAW, the cramps only last ONE DAY... but when I eat cooked, I suffer for a WEEK at a time!!! Sometimes longer... in fact, in the last three years I was hospitalized THREE TIMES because of Endometriosis-related pain and symptoms... I am changing that with RAW!

Stick with RAW foods... one day of pain WILL someday vanish and you'll be wondering where those nasty cramps went, and be HAPPY they're gone!

Have you tried the "Cramp Reliever" drink on page 543 of Alissa's book?

I just did a search for this thread and I'm so glad I found your reply, VEGAN, because today had started out good but went downhill... I'm now having pretty intense cramps + my head feels fluffy and I'm nauseas. Time to whip out Alissa's recipe!!! Thx for the tips, Vegan...

WOW! I really feel for you!!

Since becoming more serious about RAW the past 4 months, I HAVE NOT HAD ANY MENSTRAL CRAMPS OR PMS!!! My cramps were really baddd, too!!! As a matter of fact, I have to remind myself when I'm due because I don't have any more painful indications anymore, which is lovely...

Hope you get relief soon!!!!
