I eat mostly fruits too! The food I eat is mostly fruits, fruit-vegetables, nuts, seeds and first pressed extra virgin olive oil (which is all considered fruits). The only thing I say I eat that isn't a fruit is spinach and carrots. Actually I don't like the spinach. Carrots are alright, but I'm not crazey about them. I just would put them in my salad to make my salad more filling. See I love fruits they give me energy and keep me in a happy state of mind, but vegetables and other foods make me too tired and depressed!!
I would like to eat all fruits, but I'm afraid I would get too low in calcium! What should fruitarians eat for calcium to make sure their calcuim don't get too low?

Thanks in advance,
Melindaxl

Doe...this is good news. I thought it needed to be "intense" greens such as kale (which I like, but certainly is a stronger experience!) :D

Actually, Melindaxl, you're getting plenty of calcium from what you're eating. Are you worried about having strong bones? If so, a recent study on long-time raw foodists showed that their bones are strong and healthy. Just be sure you're getting some sun on your skin (to make Vitamin D) and doing weight-bearing exercise (which is what strengthens your bones).

Have you been eating this way long?

RawTruth, I am impressed by your knowledge. Normally I wouldn't reply just to say something like that, but you definetly have your act together.

No-I've probabley been eating this way for about 5-6 months. Before that I was trying a raw food diet based on greens, vegetables (no starch vegetables though) and good fats! I read a book about balancing your body's PH. It was called The PH miracle for weight loss! I found out I couldn't do it because it made me too tired. I missed my fruits too much!! It also made me feel heavy and it made me constipated every now and then, where I wasn't going on a regular basis and I couldn't stand that feeling. So I said that it, I'm going to go back to eating the food that makes me feel good and energized. Which is Fruits. The past 5-6 months I've been slowly adding more fruit back into my diet and decreassing my vegetables. That article that I first wrote is where I'm at right now!
I'm 5'5 and weigh around 140 lbs and I exercise everyday. I do like 30 minutes of tae-bo in the morning and like a few days a week I go on a good 30 minute walk. I've noticed I have to kind of keep my exercise light because if not, I can't seem to get enough food back into me and I get too weak and tired. I'm going to be getting a rebounder next month. I can't wait to get it, I'll probabley alternate it with tae-bo everyday. I hear it's a good exercise for detoxing the body. I'm going to get some tapes to go with it too, It will be more fun that way!! I'm just ready to get back that light slinder body I used to have, with all that energy along with it!
Anyways thanks for everyones help and if you have anymore ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks for everything and have a great day!

There is a great article on calcium in the
fruitarian diet in the new issue of Living Nutrition->

I don't have time to type out the article but you
should be able to find a copy at your local health
food store. Wild Oats and Whole Foods sell it.

I just bought the Living on Live Food Book & DVD. I selected priority shipping, so I should get it by Thursday I hope. I live in Tallahassee, Florida.

I know this was kind of off the topic of the thread about calcium, but I was just glad I ordered the book and dvd.

Hi pizda,

I am helping people out. Living Nutrition is a magazine
created by fruitarians and is written for fruitarians.

There is a great article about calcium in the last Living
Nutrition magazine.

I have a subscription to Living Nutrition and I've been a
subscriber for the past 5 years.

If you check out the Living Nutrition message board and
magazine, you will see it is devoted to the fruitarian diet.

You can find on there the article titled:

"What is the Fruitarian Raw Food Diet?"
by Dave Klein and Rene Beresford

and

"Fruitarian Bodybuilding"
by Charlie Abel and Doug Graham

Are you saying I'm breaking the rules of this message board?

If someone asks where to get calcium on the fruitarian
diet, and there is an article about it in the Living Nutrition
magazine, then I am not breaking the rules by telling
people about it.

I'm sorry but I don't have time to type it out for you!

eating fruit has actually been proven to improve bone density. So, we may forget the old myth about calcium, milk and bones. Yuppie! :)

Thanks Mike, and Gosia for those sights! I'm sure they'll help! By the way I forgot, I do eat some celery too and that's also considered a green. That will taste better with my fruits then spinach! Anyway thanks everyone for your info and time. Have a great day and take care, I'm going to check out those sights!!

Blessings,
