I am uncooking only recipes in Alissa's book until I get every recipe fixed. So, that means an all Alissa thanksgiving menu.
Here are the recipes I want to try that I have not yet made. Would appreciate input about any of these!
Cuke Wheels with Hummus P 300
Onion Dip with Crudites Pg 305
Broccoli and Cheese Pg 290
Miss Hamlin's Cranberry Sauce P 298
Pineapple Pecan Salad in Radicchio Pg 457
Sour Cream Pg 324 with green beans and Marinated Onions (can you tell what I'm trying to do here? Will it work if I warm it in the dehyd?)
Avo Cups - Pg 294
Butternut Squash Patties Pg 401 Will these keep in the fridge so I can make them ahead?
Pecan Pie Pg 500
Which one of these pies?
Sweet Potato Pie Pg 494
Pumpkin Pie Pg 498
Which bread?
Mock Turkey Loaf or Noasted Turkey?
Remember, I can only use recipes from Alissa's book. Any suggestions are welcomed. Also, I am the only one in the family who eats raw, so I would like to know how well these things keep!
Thanks,
Annie

Taking the Pineapple Pecan Salad in Radicchio off the list. Made it yesterday, and it's great, but not for Thanksgiving!
C'mon guys, I need help!
Which bread from Alissa's book?
Mock Turkey Loaf or Noasted Turkey?
Sweet Potato Pie or Pumpkin Pie!

The carrot raisin bread - definitely!
both pies - why not?

both pies - why not?
Because those two look similar and Alissa's Pecan Pie is a definite!
Have you made them both, and are they similar?
Also, is the carrot raisin bread "Holiday" enough? I know I can't replicate the white rolls I make for my family, but I would like something a little fluffy! I did love those rolls, hot out of the oven, dripping with butter. But they are not for me any longer, so I will have something warm from the dehydrator with Alissa's cream cheese.
Thanks, VFL, for the input!

I've only made the pumpkin pie.
The carrot raisin bread is NOT fluffy. It's a heavy, dense bread, as is the blueberry bread. Which I think is GR8 because you don't need as much.
EW - just reading what you wrote above turned me off. Sorry...but I'm so not there anymore...

I have been wondering if Alissa's Burger Buns would fill the need for a more bread-like item. Page 330 in her book. She says they actually mimic the real thing. You could always make them smaller, a "dinner roll" size, and test sooner for "done-ness".
I would go with the Sweet Potato Pie and a pumpkin soup but I'm not finding a pumpkin soup in Alissa's book. There is Squash Soup, page 360, but she says it is a "very sweet, dessert like soup". Curried Yam Bisque is on the same page and sounds wonderful but not really Thanksgivingish. The Mushroom Soup on page 361 might work, but then again, you weren't asking for MORE recipe ideas! http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk156/amy2004marie/sunglasses.gif

Hey Annie,
Ok here are my two bits. The cranberry sauce is wonderful though I actually placed it in the dehydrator overnight as it was too runny, came out a dream! Very long shelf life.
The squash patties were one of the first items I tried when going raw. Now I bow at the alter of Alissa but have to say hand on heart this recipe did not go down well. . .at all.:(
The onion dip is one of my favorite dips. So easy and packed with big flavour!! I serve it with chili, yum! Cover with cling film so no air and will last at least a week.
And lastly the Nosted Turkey loaf. Very good I would make it again. I know you have already read my thread but have a look at the additional notes for this recipe. As you will have seen from my picture this makes a lot so divide in half or even thirds. It freezes well (undehydrated) and the one you do dehydrate will last a week. Keep well wrapped as tends to be a bit dry if made as per recipe.
Good luck and please take pictures for us!:p
Cheers,
EPPP

Actually, I AM asking for recipe ideas. I appreciate yours!
EPPP - Thanks for the input! Greatly appreciated!! Glad to know about freezing the Noasted Turkey and that it will keep for a week in the fridge. I'm really wanting to know what I can make several days ahead, and your info helps.
