Has anyone ever tried this? I literally deep-tissue massage myself. Someone mentioned they were a deep-tissue massagist at a meditation I went to like a year ago or so and then I joined a gym and in the steam room I'll literally press all over my body. I initially had extremely, extremely sore spots all over but over time I've noticed my body has fleshed out a little bit and the sore spots aren't as sore as they once were. I look at it as giving the muscles more blood flow. The worst spots for me are around the joints, like the knees, elbow, shoulders. I'm pretty thin naturally and my legs have suffered much abuse in my 46 years. But some spots don't hurt at all, while others are extremely painful, so I believe the goal is to get the pain out of the muscle spots that hurt. I like being my own reflexologist too, I hope that's helpful to my physical and spiritual well-being. But if I press and release all over my body, there's just a lot of pain to hopefully be let go of someday.
I also like the fast jets in the hottub at my gym. That gets at painful points deep in the muscles that I can't get at with my hands. I do this kind of exercise every three or four days. I realize most people just sit in a sauna and enjoy the heat or sit in a hottub for their back only, so I'm a little busier than other people in there. I heard at a group that "pain is weakness leaving the body", I still remember that as inspiration 6 months later.:):(:o:eek:

Actually, what that soreness is, is blocked energy. When your work it, you release and free up the energy throughout the body. Yes, you're also releasing more oxygen and blood flow as well and assisting the lymph. It's all energy and it's all good!

I agree with you, of course, everything can definitely be looked at in terms of just being energy. And that gives me the confidence that the soreness can definitely be worked out and let go of completely some day. Although I've only had a 15% improvement in working it the past year, in other words, the pain is still great in all the places that it was even worse before. My whole body does feel somewhat better for all the pressing and prodding I've done to it, which makes me more comfortable with the raw diet. As long as I stay physically healthy: that's the most important thing.
As far as exercise goes, I can't think of a better one. There's something about deep-tissue massage that really hits all the pain in the body. And the only way to release that physical pain is to feel it, I assume. I also do some free weight lifting. My knees are not up to the cardio machines.
Is there anyone out there who's had some experience with deep-tissue massage? As far as healing the body the most efficiently, it seems to me to be the best exercise. Thanks for responding Revvell.:):D

I definitely have experience with deep tissue bodywork ~ giving and receiving for ummmm, 'bout 23+ years now.
Lots of great movement out there. Ground engagement, done correctly, feels like GREAT deep tissue work.

I looked up ground engagement and found this reference: FlowFitŪ II : Ground Engagement. It sounds like good exercise.

Scott Sonnen is goooood! That's a bit more advanced than what we're doing but, leading up to that. It's excellent exercise. People don't get on the ground (and up again) often enough so they get old, brittle, inflexible. One doesn't need to go to a gym to do it. They can do it at home.

it's always great to have something you're excited about and a goal. i'm with you on the "People don't get on the ground (and up again) often enough so they get old, brittle, inflexible," exercise, exercise, exercise. that's how i feel about it at this point, my body feels much better from my version of moving my bones up and down and staying flexible. i know i don't need a gym, i think about doing it on my own. for now i just like trying a gym. plus they have a sauna and a hottub that i couldn't access otherwise.
