How much fat should I be eating on a daily basis? I have been raw since March of this year. Prior to, I was prone to counting calories and "freaking out" if I had more than 1200-1500 and didn't run. Raw food has done amazing things for me. I am working on eating one raw meal at a time now, breathing, exercising daily, and just being a healthy and happy raw-foodist. At times though, I notice some of my old habits creeping in. If I ingest lots of nuts, oils, avos/different sources of fats or even a lot of food/fruit in general, I have a little "freak out" by eating a lot fats, then refraining from fats and running a lot for the next few days. This may sound silly. I want new healthy habits. I want to be COMFORTABLE with eating fats/other higher calorie foods without feeling the need to purge or fast. I want to be healthy and feel great, knowing I am maintaining my happy weight WITH fats. I know it is different for every *body*, but how much fat should one generally intake on a daily basis? Any thoughts and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.:)

I think most people are gonna say listen to your body, which is what I say :) My body goes through phases. I may eat all fruit one day & the next eat more fats like guacamole dip & nuts for a snack. If you listen to your body it will tell you when & how much fat it wants along with other foods.
So many people want to know a # but I honestly can't give one. One thing that is awesome about eating raw is not counting anything. Your body will utilize all the nutrients whether its from eating nuts, avacodoes or fruits & veggies.
I would maybe recommend practicing not counting anything & trying to get used to eating to live & not living to eat (or not eat).
Hope that helps ;)

I agree with your wanting new healthy habits. IMO it is unhealthy to purge. I would recommend trying to stop the purge habit if possible.

Have you read Alissa Cohen's awesome book: LIVING ON LIVE FOOD...?
Go get a copy as soon as you can (today would be great!) and spend some time reading what she (brilliantly) has to write about the easy, simple way you can get "perfectly balanced nutrition".
It really IS just as simple as she makes it... I and many others here are living it!

I so agree. I should know. I have close to 40 Raw books and Alissa's is THE best. Explains things more than just proving recipes.
I don't count ANYTHING, There is no need to. I DO listen to my body. For instance, lately I want citrus and heavier foods. It's getting colder and I'm eating more seasonally.

Katie P, thank you! This does help.:) I will definitely keep "eating to live & not living to eat" in mind.
Green_Woman and Veganforlife, I have not had the chance to read Alissa's Living On Live Food, yet...I would love to attain a copy!!!

Wow, 40!? I have a lot of raw books, too, but from what I have read on this website and heard about Alissa's book, I think it will be the next read on my list! This website and all it's threads of people's success in using recipes from Alissa's book are SO INSPIRATIONAL, and "wow" is all I can say...Beautiful stories and examples here. Thank you for the feedback.:D
P.S. Today, I had a zucchini/carrot/tomato/red bell pepper salad tossed with walnuts, raisins, and apple cider vinegar... SO Good! Just thought I'd share.:) Have a blessed day, everyone.

RawKate.....LOL...your salad sounds alot like mine :) very very YUMMY. But for some reason I got super bloated after I ate it! I think I'll just have fruit for dinner since that will be easier to digest. It's all about listening to your body :)
