I've been having some water problems lately...

Because my boyfriend has a fish tank, he has tested the pH of our tap water over and over, and we are finding that it's pretty high (alkaline). Because of this, I started looking for a bottled water that I might be able to substitute for our tap water. I figure if it's high enough to kill our fish, maybe we ought to drink something else...

So I took a look at smart water. It's vapor distilled, but they add electrolytes, which concerns me. I gave it a try, it tastes great, but I'm wondering about the chemical purity of something -anything, with added ANYTHING. Any thoughts?

Hello Holistica,

If you can find a copy of...

"Come Alive ! Total Health Through an Understanding of Minerals, Trace Elements and Electrolytes" by Bernard Jensen

....you will get a fairly complete picture of the role of electrolytes. In addition he tells of the water the Hunzites drink. Very mineral rich. They regularly live to over 100 yrs old and he thinks the natural water quality has something to do with it.

I would go for distilled water if you are wary of the additives. Then add electrolytes if thats what you want. Since I read a note here somewhere by Alissa about green drinks I have been adding a teaspoon of parsley juice to my drinking water... another potential solution. Ginger juice with a drop of stevia is good too added to your drinking water is great too. Ginger juice will keep in the fridge for a week.

All of the best,
