Hi

I made my first green smoothie the other day and I am so glad that I finally did! I was very nervous about doing it, it sounded really gross to me, but I figured if I hated it I could just throw it out right? Well I really liked it a lot and now I have been craving them. I made mine at first with just romaine lettuce and some fruit but now I am having it with arugula and spinach. They are so good!
If you haven't tried this yet, please do! Even my children (ages 2,3,5 and 8) love them! (the baby get them vicariously through me, haha)
Anyways, they just taste healthy and good for you.
Yum!

I so agree with you on that. I think that blenders should come with multiple jugs because mine is never out of the dishwasher soon enough.

I agree! I had my first green smoothie this week and I love them as well! I can't wait to make more!
I wish my blender held more as my entire family loves them.
Yesterday my 3 year old was drinking his outside. He came inside and it was hilarious.
He had a very very great mustache and beard! I had to get a pic, it was so cute!

I didn't think I would be able to down a green/lettuce smoothie. But the first time I made one it was awesome!!!! And it is such a great way to send my hubby off for a day of work and he gets his greens, cause of course it is hard to have a salad in his lunch box 1/2 a day before he can get to it.

It is such a great way to start the day, keeps me on track and helps me not be tempted during the day.

AND,, it is so easy for the younger children to make, they can make one for me while I"m doing something else... lOve those greem smoothies..

Missionarymamato5 -- can you tell me what you put in your green smoothie? It sounds so healthy, but I've been afraid to try because the thought of greens in my smoothie sounded gross! Thanks!!

greengirl, I was scared of green smoothies also, lol. An easy way to start adding them to your diet I found, was making a banana, strawberry smoothie and adding romaine lettuce or spinach...keep tasting as you make it to be sure you can taste the strawberries the most...soon my taste adapted enough that i can now add kale also.

Not gross at all! :p

So... at first the only ingredients in your smoothie were bananas, strawberries and greens? Nothing else? :o

Greengirl,

My favorite green smoothies have been orange juice, pineapple, bananas and kale. The sweet fruits completely hide the kale and I feel incredible when I drink this.

I make one with pinapple and kale. It tastes great. I use to put banana which many people liked but I personally can't stand bananas. I went through a brief period of trying to make myself like them but gave that up. Anyway the smoothie with just the kale and pinapple is great, it makes a very pretty green color. Watermelon and kale also taste good but the color is not very appealing.

Yes, green smoothies are amazing. I have a question for the people who use pineapple or anyone else who may have a suggestion. I haven't tried it yet but I can bet they hide the kale flavor really well. But what do we do when they are out of season?

I made one with pears and some fresh squeezed OJ (that's what I had laying around)and romaine lettuce
and my boys loved it. Tastes like applesauce, but green.
I've used Kale before too. Lots of great suggestions on this thread for combos.

Greengirl, try it! You really can't taste the greens! It is just the color
that comes out greenish (sometimes mucky). If you do taste the greens,
add more fruit..but I have never had that happen.
Green Smoothies Rock :D

Greengirl....I think the important thing is to make the smoothie out of what you like (my personal fav. is banana, strawberry, and maybe peach if I have it) ...but first I put a BUNCH of spinach in my processor and pulse it down pretty fine, and then add all the fruit (I even add ground flax at the end)....let us know what you think......believe me, I was hesitant to try a GREEN smoothie too, but I did just this week and LOVE it! Oh yeah....my strawberries are frozen...I try to use some frozen and fresh fruit....
