Okay so i saw a huge post with one million juicer reviews attached.
anyway, i simply will not count on ever finding anything better than the plain old hamilton beach juicer, what now? to juice or not to juice?
i read an article taking about cheap juicers wont break down cell walls, no enzymes, horsepower, yap yap yap. don't wanna waste money and something that wont make sense in the end.
can i use a regular Oster blender? that one i have and, i am not buying a new one. i have made smoothies in it before i must admit the grape skins weren't really fine, lol.
i saw a homemade solar dehydrator online:eek:. lol.. i am definitely gonna make this!! :D gotta make do yo know!
what the hell do you use a hand blender for? i bought one that i used to whip up cake batter, do you guys ever use one?
this sucks, last month i went broke after i spent $6000 (about Usd 65) on a crock pot, and a hotplate..... and now :( its gonna gather dust. do you ever use them for ANYTHING at all? i may just have to give it away than let it stay here and break? this makes me feel unstable, like i am always trying new things that never happen? my friends say: AFTER YOU BOUGHT THE CROCK POT YOU ARE GOING RAW??? WHAT UP FOR NEXT MONTH???:(

I think the issue becomes one of what do you want to juice? The HB juicer might be fine for most fruits, but not so great for something like wheatgrass. I don't even have a juicer.
If you can use your blender to break down frozen or fresh fruit into a smoothie it's probably fine for what you need to do. In fact, I contend that you can be raw with a cutting board and a good knife.
The point of all the appliances is to make the transition from what people normally eat to raw a little smoother and more comfortable. According to Alissa's book, and many raw foodists, over time you move toward simpler foods anyway. Fresh fruits, green smoothies and salads. I don't think it's productive to get hung up on the trappings of the lifestyle (the appliances, the superfoods, blah blah blah).
As for starting things and not finding what you want? I don't know what to tell you. Have you really identified what you want? What did you want out of the slow cooker and the hot plate? How were they to serve you and your goals?
I think it's totally cool that you are making a solar food dehydrator. That sounds like a great project. I would like to see pictures if that's possible!

you can totally get by with whatever you have. once you've been raw for awhile and you want to get more quality appliances, you can. but... what you have is fine for now. ;)

Lol, i dont even know what wheatgrass is:o.. really
well, i wanted the slowcooker and the hot plate because i wanted to cook. i was eating junk before because i have no kitchen at my place. so the slow cooker and a hotplate was a good idea at the time since i would be cooking. i just wanted to cook regular stuff like meats, scramble an egg in the morning before school etc, instead of living on bread and cheese and crackers:( etc.
in the back of my mind i am wondering if i can go 100% raw... i know for a fact that i am going vegan but 100% raw? maybe. i will have to test it for about a month to see if its practical. i can just imagine how expensive it is going to be be. brown rice and mashed potatoes go a looong way in comparison to spending the same money on fruits and vegies. its ridiculous how expensive healthy food is in Jamaica... organic? we don't even use that word here!
this makes me wish i dint live in the city. in the country there are a lot of small farmers that sell their produce cheaper.
well, i will definitely make do... If i make the dehydrator i will post up pix to!!!:D

I have several appliances but don't use them very often anymore. The longer the time I have been raw the simpler my diet has become. Most of my food is eaten as whole food now using just a knife to cut it.

Well, here's what I do. I eat raw for breakfast and one other meal. Breakfast is usually a smoothie made with greens and fruits. Lunch or dinner is a salad (huge!) and my third meal is vegan and cooked. I usually use my slow cooker to make a bean soup of some kind because it's fast to heat up and easy for me to digest.
Not 100%, but it's better than where I was and I feel good. I have a very busy life and I can manage this right now.
Do you have a refrigerator? You might just want to start with what's manageable to you in your circumstances. That will get you feeling successful about managing your lifestyle and your health and encourage you to make more changes to the positive instead of getting down on yourself for what doesn't work. And I'm totally saying this from experience. (c:
