Is salt intake a good idea ? I have been reading up on salt for years and still can't decide if its good or bad. Can we get all the sodium we need from celery and other raw foods? Should we add sea salt to drinking water ? Whats the deal on salt ?

If you do a search, you will find that this has been discussed ad infinitum, ad nauseum. The opinions range from salt being poison to salt being very beneficial.

Alissa uses salt in her recipes, and to me that should be it for discussion on this board. And moderation and listening to your body.:)

Thats good to know. I like what I have seen so far in her recipes.

Thank you,

It is a personal choice.

I did an experiment. After 6 years of eating sea salt on a raw diet, I went for 1 month without adding sea salt.

Here are my personal results:

My skin became much noticeable softer. I've always had a problem with dry cuticles and this cleared up pretty quickly.

I lost some weight, specifically, I lost my belly bloat. I was shocked to see my tummy flattening out.

I found that I was eating less food, in general.

My Bowel movements finally normalized. This has always been a problem...even after 6 years of raw.

My energy level went up.

My very minor back pain went away...finally.

After this one month, I added sea salt back into my diet and each of my positive health improvements declined again.

So now, I'm more conscious about salt and getting it back out of my diet again.

Anyways, just wanted to share.

Everyone agrees that sea water is not fit to drink because of its salt content. It needs to be de-salinated to be potable. How then could salt removed from it be fit to eat? I have asked this question several times on this forum and no one has answered it.

Drinking sea water exclusively won't do you any good, that is why it is seen as undrinkable. A glass full isn't going to kill you. A small amount of salt shouldn't do much harm.

Before I started on raw I used loads of salt on my cooked food. I then found it made the raw food more palatable but as I ate more and more raw I found the desire for salt diminished.
Tastes change as your body gets healthier. As you listen to it you will realise whether you really need something or its just a habit that you no longer need.

you think your opinions are facts and discount everyone else's. Perhaps others have also stopped responding to you?
