So, yesterday I was 2 months, 100% raw. My hubby was making hamburgers and I said I wanted one. He said, I don't think that's such a great idea for a raw vegan. I yelled GIVE ME THE FREAKIN' HAMBURGER!!! I scarfed it down and about an hour later started puking my guts out. For about 3 hours before the (other method my body has of getting rid of stuff) (can't spell it) kicked in.

Oh, man am I sore this morning. Everyone in the house has been forbidden to mention anything about meat to me.

I didn't know this diet was self-policing or that my body had such strong opinions...

lol awww well let that be a lesson to ya ;) once you have been raw for a long while and you eat something you once ate and loved your body may very well reject it just like what happened to you

Yeah, I've learned my lesson! I can't believe what a violent reaction I had.

"Selfpolicing diet" Interesting but very right terminology. During the last two years I have noticed number of time the same reaction Not with meat, since I have not eat meat for 20 years.
My freind is noticing the same. IMHO the "cleaner" body is protecting themself and trying to detox. Events, like you had should only confirm your strong will to be healthy. Raw diet is definetly a way to go.

wow, i never thought about that. I can completely understand your body rejecting the meat. But will someone's body reject a vegan cooked food after being raw for a long time? Or will you just get a stomach ache?

Thank you all for the supportive responses. I don't know about the cooked vegan experiment. Right now I'm not inclined to experiment at all. I'm not eating anything until my body is back to normal and my appetite returns. Which is probably not today.

Yucko!!

Shannon Colleen,

I'm so sorry, that you went through this pain. I hope you are feeling better.

I too was 100% raw for 2 months, then had one small drink out with some people, and boy did I feel it, and I don't drink, I was just a little nervous meeting these people (not something that usually happens to me-they were very famous in my circle) and I was sick sick sick for 2 days, and still had to do lectures, etc.
