I am experiencing the opposite effect. I seem to require practically no water and have to remind myself to drink it. I do not even drink the water that I place by my bedside at night. I think that the reason for my change may be the fact that my "hot flushes" have stopped completely.

I was exeperiencing the same thing. Drinking water all the time, craving juicy fruit. My lips were parched. On heavy exercise days it was much worse. I chalk it off to all the sweating I do when I exercise and that my body is too dehydrated. I don't use salt of any kind, so the only sodium I get is from my fruit.
I think I have the answer for myself. Sweat less, eat salt. Two things I prefer not to do, so I just eat my oranges and drink my water. As my body gets used to it, I'm sure the thirst will subside.

96 ounces of water in an hour?? How long has this been going on?

Druid, that certainly sounds like alot of water, I would definitely do what my body wants, however you may choose to substitute fruit or fruit juice instead of all of the water, as drinking too much water in such a short period of time can actually dehydrate you, especially if it is tap water, or sulfited water etc.
Try drinking celery and fruit juice, the celery has natural sodium, which should help the water stay in your system.
Carlene, can you eat celery? It has a ton of sodium naturally in it, and it might work for you too.

We can't form a responsible comment unless you give more information, druid. Can you tell us how long you've been raw. Or, actually, if you are eating all raw? What did you eat last night? What is different in your life than usual? Did you work out last night? How much water do you normally drink? Etc ... etc ... no matter how helpful I'd like to be, I really need to know more information from you.

I've been extremely thirst since I've transitioned to raw. So I'm drinking about 4 cups of water right when I wake up. I'm also eating more watermelon since it's so hydrating.
And I've cut back on the celtic sea salt (I love salt).

Debbie, I'm wondering if you're eating dehydrated foods regularly. Also, what occurs to me is that perhaps your body is simply needing water to flush out toxins. Now that you're giving it only raw & living foods, maybe it's decided you're serious and so it's going to really get down to work. :) (Seriously.) I assume that you're drinking more than you used to.

Becareful you dont drink too much.
Too much can kill you. :(
If you drink to much in a short period of time.
Believe it or not. but true.Peanut, How much is "too much"? In what period of time? In what circumstances? With all due respect, I'd like to see the information on this. Do you remember where you learned this so that I might seek out the research?

Thanks RawTruth. I don't go crazy with dehydrated fruits. I have some raisins or dates but that's it. Today I had raisins on my salad...maybe I had 1/2 cup all day long. It's something to think about, though.
But I am so very raw that I'm sure my body is adjusting!

rawtruth;
It is very easy to look it up on the net, I am not making this up.
I am not a doctor and dont pass out advice, i am just pointing out a few tips for people who may not get the correct advice.Peanut, I wasn't in any way suggesting that you were making it up. Not at all. When I said with all due respect, I meant it. I was aware of it as an extremely rare occurrence, but hadn't read anything specific on it. Thanks for giving the details.
Twinyoga - I was thinking more along the lines of crackers, breads, burgers, and other dehydrated foods. I don't know if it's been as hot in Ohio as it's been here, but, if it's the usual mid-West August weather, that may be impacting the thirst, too! Anyway, have a drink (of water) for me!

I only buy one bag of dehydrated crackers a week...so I don't go overboard on dehydrated foods (I haven't bought a dehydrater, yet).
And yes, Cleveland has been HOT this summer.
Cheers (to water)
