so what is a girl to do if she hates olive oil? I know it is supposed to be good for me but I just can't get past the taste. For me it comes through in everything and ruins the flavors for me.I made broccoli with hoisini sauce today and I am sure I would love this if not for the olive oil.It seems to be in many raw recipes so is there a way to sub it out?

Hello!

I personally never use any oils at all. You can do a substitute with chia seeds (about 1 part chia seeds to 8 parts water) soaked and blended in the vitamix. Great stuff!

I use flax oil in salad dressings, and Udo's oil which is a blend of good oils. I didn't used to like olive oil either, until a friend took me to a local olive grower. We went into her kitchen, and she had us taste her different oils soaked in bread. They were amazing! They tasted like fruit! And they each tasted distinctly different. I buy only from her, and use sparingly ($$$.)

now flax I really like...that just may be the answer..I do need the oil to break down and soften the broccoli in the marinade.I use it sparingly..but I do need it on occasion.

I find Olive Oil is Ok on some thing but not on all to My taste. I mostly use Grape Seed Oil. I often see Cooking Shows and they are Frying all sorts of creepy crawlers which are already laden with fat and I wonder how can any Health benefits happen when its FAT already......

Lots of good suggestions for substitues have been given. I think it is important to note that olive oils can taste very different. Maybe you would like a different brand better.

Olive oil is certainly overrated as a health food in my opinion. I've never been a fan of the taste either, but there are some kinds that are fairly neutral tasting which I sometimes use.

- grape seed oil is pricey but i like alot

- and maybe youve only tried regular olive oil and or cheap brands ,
if so ide try extra virgin olive oil as it makes a BIG difference .
' felipo berio ' brand is a decently priced brand i opt for

- and i also find using a hand plunger chopper to finely chop up a TON
of raw garlic clove along with fresh parsley greatly enhances dressings

- and in dressing terms try almond milk used as a base for a ranch type dressing if not yet done so

I find that there are differences between the olive oils. After one bad experience with olive oil from Spain, I used to make sure that my bottle of olive oil said that it came from Italy.

But now I don't use olive oil anymore, I've switched to extra virgin coconut oil because coconut oil is the most easily digested oil and it never goes rancid.

hiphoptiff--the brand is "clearspring" but i dont know if its available in the US. theres also another that comes in a funny shaped bottle with a french guys name that i forget, but that are cold pressed and theres sesame there. when i was in the states i got a cold pressed unrefined one from napa naturals that said the temperature it was pressed at on the bottle. i got it at WF. BUT their olive oil is apparently otherwise heated even though the bottle says a low temp for pressing, so i dont know aobut their sesame. there was another brand of org sesame i used to get in the states too but i forget the name.
