The Liver Cleanse
I am really very interested in this Liver Cleanse. I hope some of you will answer my many questions.
I have Celiac Disease with massive destruction of my small intestines. Over 52 years of non treatment / abuse of gluten & cooked foods has led to multiple serious and life threatening illnesses.
For more than 30 years I fought off illnesses. I have always been interested in the food aspect of health and have tried nearly everything. Somethings helped but nothing really worked. I had so many diseases that when people ask for a list I always forget a number of them.
I was actually preparing to die.
Just over 2 years ago, a comment from a friend with a sick son, and a 2 page health magazine article convinced me that I had Celiac Disease. It took a lot to get tested, doctors flatly told me I didn't have it - but the tests proved I did. I started my current journey to rid my life of gluten - I finally had an enemy to fight. It started with the elimination of my daily normal lunch, two family sized meat lovers pizzas with extra cheese from pizza hut. The crust has gluten. Today I am 308 pounds and what is still called morbidly obese. I weighed 220 more back then...
For those that live in the USA or other countries that have any serious labeling laws, being gluten free is extremely hard! Within six months I discovered the being gluten free in the Philippines is just one hair away from totally impossible. In exasperation I told my wife that the only way I could be really gluten free was to ban gluten from my house, repaint our kitchen, wash every dish and pan in our home in steamy water a dozen times and then only eat fresh fruits and veggies.
My Honeybun loves me. She told me we would fight this together. Every gram of gluten in our house was discarded. Every pan, dish and plate was washed and washed and washed - or thrown out! Our landlord had frequently told us that we were the best tenants she ever had, and we liked her and liked where we lived. But Percy called her and told her because of my illness we needed the kitchen repainted, or we would have to move. The painters magically arrived asking what color we would like. This was serious business and the ONLY thing we could do to fight my death.
I tell you all this to let you know how serious was my health problems.

I had spent 4 months in a mental hospital diagnosed with Schizophrenia (3% of Celiacs have this symptom from a gluten reaction).
Every afternoon about 3 pm I would be angry bordering on rage (Celiac Rage as a reaction to gluten is well documented in 20%.) Understand that during these gluten times, if someone left a light on I would take my cane and smash it to pieces. Yelling was a daily afternoon event. (Note: My wife is a superwoman who loves me, deserves a metal for putting up with my illness, and will freely tell people that she got a new husband the day I stopped eating gluten! I heard her tell someone that I haven't yelled in over a year!).
I know this list is NOT complete. It is rather personal and painful to even admit. I am very serious about eating Alive Food! It gave me a new life. I spent over six months NEVER getting out of bed once. Today I have 3-5 hours a day out of bed! In all this no doctor of mine ever mentioned Celiac Disease nor Raw Food.
The thought that to get rid of gluten I needed to buy fresh fruits and vegetables was spurred on by three Bible verses I happened to come across. Those seemed to me to show 1) A time people started to cook. 2) A time people started to eat meat. 3) A plan, a design, by which people were designed to eat what is called here "live food" or a raw vegan diet.
I figured that "predigesting" or cooking, played some roll in short circuiting the design. However, having Celiac - eating raw food HURTS. I found I could better eat fruit that veggies. I made a slight error and became a raw fruitarian for a year. My health did improve above what is listed above... my meds for diabetes, heart diseases and gout were all reduced. By B.P. had dropped too... but I drastically loss muscle mass due to a list of real problems in my diet. My doctor convinced me (and was correct) that I was not eating what I needed to replace the protein, iron, copper, calcium and Vitamins D, B-12 and others. I started to eat cooked food again to get these.
Up to this time all I did was based on my own ideas (plus a few Bible verses). The only sympathy I got was from some India friends. This was all "Against Medical Advice" I fired my doctor and walk to a neighbor (Doctor) who years before had told me to eat fruit and veggies at a un health related event.
My friend, with no internet knowledge, challenged me to see if there were any other "crazy people" in the world that were "eating uncooked veggies for their lifestyle to cure their diabetes" - that was the only disease he really understood. I typed into Google "Diabetes raw food lifestyle." The first thing I saw was the documentary Simply Raw - CURE Diabetes in 30 days.
I was very sick, but I was NOT insane!
My Celiac reacted to the raw food violently. Constipation alternated with painful diarrhea. But I stuck to it and pushed through. 45 days later, Dr. Mike, as I call him, removed my last diabetes medicine. Later he would tell me I was really cured and stop testing my blood sugar all the time!
This is not easy for me to write or admit in public, but I really have some serious questions about this Liver Cleanse and I want serious answers.
My health is greatly improved today. The tremulousness pain I suffered before (Angina, Gout and Celiac are not fun!) is now "just" a pain in my right abdomen, pain in my back and pain in my upper arm muscles and shoulder. I am very pleased with this small amount of pain - most lab tech cannot believe I no longer take pain meds. I retired my walking cane.
Ok, the questions...
I thought it would be a good time to add a liver flush. I have been having twinges in my gb area from time to time. I have never had a full blown attack.
Katch, what does "twinges in my gb area" feel like? I have pain that feels like someone slugged me just at the bottom of where my stomach organ is. The pain gets worse and gets better but rarely goes away.
You can put your apple smoothie into a nut mylk bag (or paint strainer bag from a hardware store) and squeeze out the juice. Compost the pulp... and voila... you have apple juice.

I really appreciate this last link as it offers suggestions on alternatives. For example, I haven't seen a grapefruit in the Philippines in about a decade! Grapefruit and its cousin pomello both cause me a great amount of pain in the kidney area.
I will try this with either sour pineapple or calamansi.

Eat a no-fat breakfast and lunch such as cooked cereal, fruit, fruit juice, bread and preserves or honey (no butter or milk).
It seemed funny that Alissa would post to eat... "cooked cereal" and "bread and preserves" - I understand now that these were just copied.
