Hello all.
I have been raw for about 2 years now. I have had times of being only 80%, but the majority of the time have been 100%. Recently I have had some big old emotions resurfacing, almost as though I was going through those experiences all over again. I read an interview recently with a long term raw fooder who said that most raw foodists experience their biggest emotional detoxes after 2 years raw. I know there are several long term raw foodists in this forum and wondered if this has been true in others experiences.

YES!!! you figure YEARS of emotions that get hidden and subdued can finally be released when one becomes healthy. It's not only physical. It's very spiritual as well...it's a total cleansing.

I had my biggest 'emotional detox' at about 4 years in...It would have come earlier, but I wasn't ready. In 2006 I tried to release the toxic emotions, but I regressed. Finally in 2007 the time was right.
To your point, however, I do think that in time comes full release. It's about patience. At least that is my experience. :)

Thankyou both for replies

Cassy what do you mean by "it would have come earlier"? How did you supress it from coming? May I also ask, how long did this big emotional clearout last for?

Hum..how to put this. It was all related to very toxic relationship. Prefer not to detail in a public forum. The main thing is, while raw does help clear the mind of all the craziness within, emotional release goes WAY farther than just what we feed ourselves in the moment. And, remember, we are what we eat. I had a few decades of cellular structure built before I went raw!
:)
Sorry to be short, but while I don't mind discussing food and topline emotions, I'm rather private about the rest. Thanks for your understanding.

This is unsettling to me! I'm closing in on a year, I can hardly bear what I've been dealing with the past month. I also haven't had hardly any days at all that I feel "great" - so not really sure how to continue on anymore.

This is when one needs to stand in front of that mirror and look at say, "I look AND feel good!" and do it daily. It's a mind over matter thing...

That's okay, I just thought you meant you had somehow suppressed the detox which did not seem possible. Do you remember how long the detox lasted? I know each person is different, but it seems that the 2 year thing is common so I thought perhaps the amount was also similar.

Please don't let it put you off. Sometimes the detox is very difficult, but when I compare to how I felt pre-raw it is still preferable. It is like pre-raw was stagnant emotions and raw is moving emotions, even if strong and raw :)
Having said that I am not sure I have heard of anyone not getting hardly any benefit for the first year at all. Did you not even feel amazing after the first couple of months?
Could you be deficient in any nutrients? Iron perhaps?

To answer your question, it took about 2 months...
