I'd like to switch to 80% raw and then gradually move to 100%. I'm concerned because I'm breastfeeding our 6 month old - I'm not sure if, as I'm detoxing, he'll get toxins in my milk. Does anyone have any experience with this? Unfortunately he's also being supplemented with formula because I don't make enough milk. I do not want to switch to 100% formula - I'd much rather wait til he's on solids if need be. If I go to 80% will the detoxing even be that bad?
Any suggestions or advice are much appreciated. Thank you!

Your post is like reading a Deja Vu! Go SLOW or wait until you're done breastfeeding.
Yes, he will get toxins from your milk. I didn't upgrade to more raw food and juicing until my son was 1yr. I couldn't find ANY information about it at the time, but knew I was going too fast when he screwed up his face when breastfeeding. YIKES - did NOT want to give him toxins. So, I slowed WAY down and did a much more gradual switch.
For me, it may have been a little less toxic as I was eating vegetarian and organic anyway. Switching from full SAD diet will include more toxins and need to be done much more gradually. I'm still breastfeeding (3yr) so glad to help if I can.
Also, would suggest zeolights to help transport any toxins out of your system safely.

I was nursing when i did 100% raw food. She was 15 months and it was absolutely no problem. I heard about the toxin, but your milk is just becoming more quality and richer in nutrients that it is in my opinion the best thing you can do for your child. If you still want to do cook food, just make sure that you eat organic and fresh (no chemical). Eat tone of fresh coriander and consider msm supplement, it neutralize heavy metal.
You can consider to go for an hydro colonic therapy. It cleanse the toxin from your guts which prevent them to go in your blood stream. I did that my first year i did raw and it was worth it for me. Do research, i am not a doctor.
Congratulations for doing raw food

This is what I would have though, too. I'm not a nursing mother so I'm not qualified to respond... however, I would think that if there's a gentle way to detox, feeding your child RAW mother's milk is going to be so much more nourishing for their early-stage development than having SAD milk...

I noticed that when I improved my diet whilst breastfeeding that my baby became happier and healthier.
If your diet is bad now then your baby is getting toxins from that anyway. If you follow a diet like Alissa's with plenty of food you are not going to detox much and it will be so good for your baby.
Whatever you do don't switch to formula, the goodness of your milk even with a few toxins is so much better than formula.
Eat well and your baby will too!

I switched over to a 100% raw food diet overnight while nursing my then 5 month old baby and she never had any problems whatsoever, besides a bit of a runny nose for 2 days. After I switched to raw foods she never suffered from any other afflictions common to babies such as ear aches and was the healthiest baby I ever had. I attribute her overall good health to my switching to raw. As she grew she got to eat things such as mashed bananas and avocadoes. People would be astounded when I would cut open an avocado and just spoon feed it to her from the shell.
She never had any problems at all until some (stupid!) person decided that she "needed" to eat a banana cookie one day when I was not around and fed her a garbage SAD cookie behind my back and without my consent when she was 10 months old. This after I explicitly told this (very stupid!) person that she was not to eat anything. That made her very sick for several days. After that I learned my lesson and told people that she had food allergies and had a very restricted diet. That nipped that problem in the bud as no one wants to give a child with food allergies something they shouldn't have. Well, most people don't anyway.

There was a renegade health show recently that shared the latest research that toxins do not enter breast milk, I'd highly recommend checking out the episode. I'm breastfeeding a 3 year old and I've already gone thru detox of losing 30 pounds and it was no problem here either. I don't think it will be a problem for the babe.

Sure wish the research was out a couple of years ago on that! I would have loved to transition faster a couple of years ago. Thanks for the update.
