All my life (50+ years), I have had migraines. Pre-Raw I was at my wit's end. So sick with these life debilitating monsters, I literally would start my day chewing up about 4 Excedrin P.M.'s to cut the "edge" of the migraines.

Not only was I barely existing/living with these, but then my thyroid was diagnosed as non-functioning. So a thyroid specialist was recommended. I went to him for 6 years and was up and down on all doses of Synthroid.

Since going 100% Raw, I immediately started showing improvement in my thyroid numbers and not ONE migraine has surfaced. I kept waiting for it. Every day. I would think, this is the day I will get a headache. But nothing. My thyroid specialist kept saying it couldn't be the foods I was eating - that has nothing to do with the numbers, as he would shake his head every 2 months of my improving.

11 months after going 100% Raw - both dis-eases cured/healed/GONE! LESS THAN A YEAR!!! Unbelievable!

This was four years ago.

This totally proves we are what we eat!

Alissa was truly an Angel sent to me. Thank you!

always amazing!

migraines are one of my main motivations for wanting/trying/going raw.

Eliminating the weight was a perk. If it meant being heavy and NOT having migraines - that would have been okay.

I was sooooo sick I was seriously considering the alternative...leaving this circle of live called Earth. For real! I was THAT sick.

I will get a dehydration headache, but I up my water and it goes away, but NO MORE MIGRAINES!

Yeeeehaaaawwww! Look at your own bad self! Stylin'!

I am not quite migraine free yet, but soooooooo much better. My theory is that since mine are hormone based, I will be free once I release the excess estrogen stored up in my fat. Hope so!

rawk on sista

You have surely seen the power of raw foods..OH me oh my!

I had miagraines once in a while, a long time ago. I found that they were totally (in my case) coming from any chems in food. Say MSG in chinese food or diet soda (artificial sweetener..wooooeeeey) and such. Oh and caffeine and sometimes chocolate (not raw-kin kind).

Anywhooo now I have no complaints atall bout n e thing. After two years raw, rarely have any symptoms of anything.

Well except my skin turning green!!!!

Hi Veganforlife,

Your success story and physical transformation are really amazing. Congratulations!

I am preparing myself to have a doctor shaking his head at me in the near future. I've been diagnosed with acute hyperthyroidis two months ago. Since mid-September I am 75-80% raw. Haven't visited the endocrinologist yet but I just had a second blood test, to make sure the guy wouldn't kill my thyroid without proper assessment. My figures are still not completely normal but guess what ? No more hyperthyroidis !! The guy from the labo wrote on the results sheet : 'is the patient under medication ?' Nope, dear !

OK, it remains to be seen if I don't have a Hashimoto disease - in which case erratic results would be normal. But I wouldn't be very surprised that the food actually makes a difference. Of course, this will be VERY difficult to explain to a plain regular doctor :p

It is very sad however that raw food doesn't help a bit with my vitreous degeneration. That's what makes me suffer the most right now (and made me try it to begin with)

Many greetings to all. I'll keep you posted with the thyroid situation.

That's so exciting! I had hypothyroidism for a long time and had my labs normalize with diet too. I found out that I was reacting to gluten before I went raw and that it was responsible for my thyroid problems (I had migraines too among other things!). And my thyroid went back to normal without meds. My TSH went from around 5 to 1.2 in a little less than a year on gluten free. I stopped gaining weight at that point and when I went raw I started losing. The reason I bring this up is that you might be recovering from gluten intolerance since you've been raw. Do you eat sprouted wheat and oats?

You guys are really giving me hope. Please give me example of your meals and how often you ate cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower. I am new to this and very excited!! I just found out that I am also allergic to wheat!
