View Full Version : Quick Question re: raisins (and a few other things)
Do raisins have to specifically say "raw" to be sure they qualify for raw, or are all raisins raw?
Ditto on the agave?
Also, does Braggs Amino & Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar need to be refrigerated after opening? It doesn't say on the packaging.
THANKS!

I've never seen any raisins that say "raw". I seen plenty that say "sun-dried". That is good enough for me. :)
Costco is currently selling Sun-Maid Organic California Raisins 2-2lb bags for $6.99. Nothing added. "Sun-dried to perfection" So soft and moist! Best raisins EVER!
I keep my Soldana ACV in the cupboard.

I just buy Organic Thompson raisins, but they don't say raw. Also, I do not refrigerate my amino or acv. They are left on the counter. We only refridgerate what suggests, on the package to be refrigerated.

Just sun-dried is not good enough. Most companies put then through an additional process which involves heat. Sun-Maid is not raw or organic. For dried fruit you definitely want organic.

I special order mine online....
Just like my nuts, and dried tomatoes, and olives, etc. etc.
It's tough to be raw in the city....

Could you post a link to this please (the additional process), thanks! :)

They don't seem to mention as much on their website. I had emailed them awhile ago. There's many other threads on raisins and other dried fruit.
Rawfromthefarm says good quality dried fruit, among many others.

FYI - I used to live in Fresno and they really do lay the grapes out on tarps to dry in the sun. You see them everywhere when you get out of the "city". It must be the cheapest easiest way. However, it gets HOT in the blazing sun there, at least 110 many days, maybe higher on those black tarps too. Not that I worry about that. Heck, I enjoy herbal tea and buy "raw" tahini. But some people are very particular and might want to know that sun-drying could be more damaging to food than a good dehydrator.
