Guys and gals, I'm in a total mental blur right now because I was exposed to mold in a house I was touring earlier today.

Eyes swelling, cold chills all over body, throat swelling, major headache, sensitivity to light, ears not working so great!

I know these symptoms are related to MOLD because I've been exposed a myriad of times in the last 5 years and always react very badly to it... even just walking into a house that has MOLD will make me sick for days. :(

Please help me - how can I build up my body's resistance to MOLD? Is that even possible? And what can I eat/take to alleviate the symptoms?

MODS: I'm posting this here because more people read this forum, but if this needs to be moved do drop my bewildered, foggy self a PM so I don't lose track of it... oh goodness... I think I need to lie down.

I take dried stinging nettle capsules for a whole range of allergies (including mold). They are very effective for my allergies, but take a couple of weeks before they kick in. Also, I get out the neti pot at the first sign of sniffles and find it help my allergies from escalating when I over do the house cleaning (major dust allergy).

When I get allergy symptoms, I eat dulse or other salty seaweed. Salt is a great antihistamine. Drink lots of water with it, too. It really works!

If you don't have seaweed, try putting some celtic salt into your water. I do this repeatedly until the symptoms go. Again, this really works for me!

look up doing a nettie pot to clean out the nasal passages with warm salt water & gargle with it. Try to get as much fresh air as possible & open the windows as much as possible.
sorry you're fighting this..it's awful.

Local bee pollen has cleared up a lot of my many allergies. Olive leaf helps too, especially with immediate symptoms. I also believe allergies are a sign of low adrenal function (why cortisone cream and salt help) so you could try nourishing the adrenals more (celery and zucchini are good and easy adds to smoothies). Good luck!

Thank you thank you everyone...! I use local bee pollen, elderberry, and eat seaweed with fair regularity, so I'll give some of the other suggestions attempts as well the next time this happens.

And it will happen again. Arizona has a HUGE mold problem!

In the meantime, I'm fortunate to have found new living quarters that are MOLD FREE... I spent over 5 minutes touring the little duplex and came out feeling just fine, so I know it's safe. :D
