Hi there,

I am training for a marathon in January. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with eating raw foods while seriously exercising/training?

Thanks!
Leanne

Thoughts:
Calories, calories, calories. My DH is an ultramarathoner. While not whole-y raw, he eats a very clean diet and the key to his success for long runs is all in the fuel. You'll want to be sure you fuel your body so that it can confidently complete the distance. This also means carbo loading in the days leading up to the race. Good carbs and fats are easy to find on the raw diet...

I wish you luck.

I am 100% raw since August and am training for a triathlon. I recommend Brendan Brazier's books - I use his raw recipes daily:

I'll be running my 16th marathon in November...about 1/2 of them since "raw".....just be sure to have your own "stash" as most races MAY have bananas and oranges along the way....but they really push gu and gatorade/powerade......a baggy with dates is just the same if you need a sugar fix I think.....hydration is important too of course. Yes, Brenden Brazier's book is great! I too use his recipes!

Dehydrated fruits and veggies are great

banana chips, dates, figs, papayas,
chia seeds are a great fuel (see book BORN TO RUN),

Chia seeds in squeeze bottle with raw honey or agave nectar
