Hi, newbie here.

2 quick questions about raw food diet:

1) Can you eat breakfast cereals like this on a raw food diet?

Morning Glory Organic Porridge
http://www.rudehealth.com/our-products/organic-porridge
Ingredients:
Porridge Oats, Jumbo Oats, Oatmeal, Barley Flakes, Rye Flakes, Golden
Linseeds, Sesame Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Buckwheat
Flakes, Poppy Seeds, Quinoa Flakes.

2) Is it ok to rinse/wash vegetables etc with tap water?

Thanks in advance for any replies,

Alex

It's not raw. It's not raw in the package and it's not raw after it's presumably cooked prior eating. It's best to eat things that don't come in a box container package etc, and have never been heated over ~118F degrees.

Yes it's ok to rinse with tap water, best to get organic produce if possible, and just rinse off any dirt. Pesticides don't wash off, or they'd have to be reapplied every time it rained. Filtered water is probably preferred over plain tap. or distilled, or spring water.

I see. Are there any cereals or grains you can eat for breakfast?

That's good - I'm not exactly rich so rinsing everything with bottled water is not an option.

Bottled water isn't much better than tap ~ since most of it is tap anyway but then, you can add leaching of plastic into the water.

Since your not exactly rich, I'd look at Pur water filters or go to eBay. We got a great water filter for $169 that attaches to faucet and fridge.

Not really. Plain oatmeal can be an ok transition food if you don't desire to be 100% raw right away. When I started out I was eating some, with some homemade almond or sesame milk, a little carob powder to make it chocolatey, and some raisins and some sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Quite tasty, I didn't even cook it.

I just use a cheapy $20 pur tap filter, and the replacements are 2 for $25 on amazon.

There's many raw cereals you can make or buy. Alissa use to sell raw rolled oats. You can buy those or the groats elsewhere. Usually can't find the raw cereals in stores, but on the internet. There's many recipes on here if you want to make it yourself.

that is pretty yummy with some agave or honey...it fills me up and gives me tons of energy to work out:) I need something more than just fruit and veg first thing in the morning.

What about a nice raw granolla. You can make it any way you like

One of my favorite.

Sprouted buckweat (dehydrated)
Raisins
Sprouted pumkin seed or sunflower sprouted seed or hemp seed
Cinamon
Pinch of celtic sea salt or hymalayan salt
(You can add chia seeds, it will give the texture of a oat meal)

Have this with a nice raw milk nut or seed, with vanilla and raw honey or raw agave. Fresh fruits with it (apple, or banana, or strawberies, etc...)

What about this water, which comes in glass bottles and comes from organic land?
