OK, time to confess....I was 100% rv for 3 great years....now for the last 2 I have been on again off again and not doing any better----actually a bit disappointed to say my weight is UP at least 20 pounds, my running is not where it should be, and I have decided I need to RE-commit to100% rv...not 50-75% but 100% or I stray and spiral down down down to SAD food all over again.....so here I am again hoping for support and needing to get inspired again! So here goes everything!

hi nf , awesome turtle :)

the work to adjust our eating habits is tricky aint it

im still seeking myself for the perfect raw diet that
eliminates all cooked cravings , all we can do is keep
trying different foods if our current ones arent doing it .

im on a fast and when i come off it im gonna try some nut / seed /
mushroom / onion / herbs type concoction in attempt to make
a proteiny / vita b type food , thats where i feel im lacking but
cant find the proper mixture

its gonna take more detailed work on the raw vegan food pyramid

its like running = keep gutting it out

the protein issue continues to be my problem too! but the fact that I haven't "found the answer" in cooked food either obviously has me back here at square one....where I am drawn....I knew it was time when I was CRAVING greens and "onion bread" after our weekend getaway where I guess I enjoyed my old SAD lifestyle for one last time....and ended up with the worst migraine and nausea....blech...yseterday found me craving and eating only apples....

I do need to kick it up a notch. I have a marathon in mid-November and am PHYSICALLY capable for sloughing off the distance-but I have packed on a few too many extra pounds....I can't really fast so I am hoping 100% raw will help me drop some weight quickly while still maintaining my training....I NEEEED to get back on track with this so need all the support and hints I can get! Thanks...
Di

Have you been "off the wagon too?"
I was 100% from August '05-'08-----3 years and did great!!!!
Then I think I got lazy and eating mono foods became my thing and I was living on bananas and whatever was easy to grab....guess it made me deficient in something because the cravings kicked in and whammo I went right down the spiral and those around me of course encouraged it because I was the only RV around and was "crazy" right....Well, here I am-161 pounds and a size 10 after staying size 4 and 140 pounds with raw food for a few years! I even decided that was ok for me and my body "must be meant to be that weight" but it's not-and I am going to try to prove that.

For now I am just sticking with 100% RV---no limitations (that was part of my problem too-I narrowed my diet and choices and must have gotten bored)....I will keep a blog or just keep up with a thread for encouragement...maybe a "back to raw" thread for those who were veterans, but now are back...What do you think? cuz I am def. not 'new" to this and could use the support of others who have gone through similar "episodes".....
Hmmmm:confused:

nfracer's Avatar - very nice!

nfracer - I find it a lot easier to stay 100% raw than anything less. Last time I went off I was sick for a week!

protein - actually I am getting more with Alissa in thinking this is really a non issue created to sell animal protein.

After a year raw I did have a protein problem... because I was on raw FRUIT only. In fact I didn't even notice it till 7-8 months in. At one year my doc made me promise to eat "more" protein.

Today I soak 1/4 cup millet seed and 1/4 cup mung beans over night. Placed in a tray with holes, I wet them a few times that day. Next am they are ready to eat. Every day I start a new tray, every day I eat a tray. I am way past my protein problem.

My friend is training for the Talisay marathon in December. He is eating the same as me 1/4 cup millet 1/4 cup mung, sprouted one day. He says this is all the protein he needs and he is getting stronger on this.

Remember that the food industry is just that, an industry to sell you something. My kids brought home a "food pyramid" a chart that tells you what kind of food you must eat to be healthy. Beef, milk, grain, all part of the protein INDUSTRY!

Who printed the chart? The beef, grain and dairy councils! Amazingly their "best advice" just happened to be what would earn them a lot of money? Does something smell fishy?

I will tell you, the millet/mung combo doesn't feel heavy like "real protein" but my friend put it to this test... One week, no worries, just the sprouts. After a week he tested himself. Had his performance decreased after the switch from "protein" to sprouts? From before sprouts to a week after sprouts his performance IMPROVED! Go Figure!
