I'm trying to boost my health and I have the following ideas:
I could fast once a week no problem, or I could eat raw fruits, vegetables, nuts & seeds for a day.
Which do you think would be healthier?

well since i'm assuming you are already raw since you've posted 48 times on this forum... i would think fasting once a week would be better for ya.
regardless, fasting once a week is definitely healthier.

Aren't you eating that now?
My suggestion ~ eat the above EVERY day and water fast once a week.

I'm not raw at the moment, I'm lacto-ovo vegetarian. Tried being raw but couldn't do it.

well fasting is still the healthier choice. ;) it'll help to detox all the stuff you are eating and all the stuff your body has taken in over the years.

Come on. Do the 30 day challenge. We know that you can do it.
Your body will thank you.

I would imagine doin a fast would be better. The flow that you've accustomed your body to could probably deal with a fast better than a complete reversal.

This is the first thread I think I've seen, where in response to the question asked, the answer isn't Raw.
Raw would be best with a day a week fasting. Non Raw and a day of fasting seems to go against the rules which say the forum is not for supporting a non raw lifestyle.

Nod,nod, nod. Raw, imo, would be better. Why bother fasting just to go back to eating more SAD? What's the point of this forum?

the point of this forum isn't to force this member to go raw... it is to answer questions. if they aren't looking to go raw but want to know which would benefit their life better... we can only answer what we each believe is true...
and as the poster can see... there are many different answers to this one. only they can make the decision to change their life. perhaps this thread will assist them in that direction.

Wow, you guys are totally taking my answer as support non-raw. I simply answered the question he asked.
But if he asked "fast once a week or eat a single raw berry once a week" I wouldn't choose the "Raw" answer just cuz.
Of course raw would be best. But thats not what he/she asked. To me it almost seems like a cop-out to eat raw once a week and think it's going to wholesale benefit you, while fasting is like honoring your place in your journey. On any diet your body has to normalize the new foods into your system, and I just think that going for gold once a week allow you to integrate the new change. You have to honor where you are in life, even if you aren't in your ideal place yet. I could be completely off of course. Thats just IMO.

Extended mission statement since some people seem to need to hear more:
This is a raw food board for asking and receiving questions and answers in regards to going and staying raw. This board is for the support of the raw food lifestyle, getting and giving advice and connecting with other people who are STRIVING TO GO AND BE RAW VEGAN according to the principles in Alissa Cohen's book Living on Live Food.
Sorry Aleesha, I don't read the rules that way.

Actually... this (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=2933) is Alissa's mission statement:
You do not have to be 100% raw or even 50% raw, but you do need to be supportive of this lifestyle and striving towards or interested in this raw vegan diet. If you are having doubts or thinking that this is not for you that is fine but then this may not be the place for you. Just like a meat eaters board or a macrobiotic board would not be the place for a raw fooder who is just interested in forcing their thoughts upon those people. These people on this board are here for support, motivation and connection in connection with Alissa Cohen's book and DVDs Living on Live Food.
I would appreciate it if everyone would abide by this post.
Thank you,
Alissa
So someone coming here who is not raw asking about health benefits is not breaking any rules.

and I re-quote the above EXTENDED mission statement which states:

his was added because the original statement wasn't enough I suppose.

I agree with MT.
For me, not eating raw and fasting once a week is NOT what this board is about. Eating raw once-a-week at LEAST gives the person the feeling of what eating raw can do for one. And NO ONE is talking about FORCING anyone to do anything.
This forum is in support of eating raw ~ NOT about fasting unless it's a path to eating raw.
