It's cold as heck outside and I'm having a real craving for some veggie chili right now. Preferrably over a baked potato and topped with Tofutti Better-Than-Sour-Cream. I know I can make something like cauliflower 'mashed potatoes' to sub for a baked potato and there are plenty of nut-based sour-cream recipes, but I really need a good thick raw chili. I've never been able to get the recipe search function to work right, so can somebody PLEASE point me to a good chili recipe. Thanks,
A very cold Seedy

Do you have Alissa's book?

Here's a thread for you...

The first thing that you need is to eat something, anything. Having food in your tummy will reduce any longing that you have. Hunger makes it seem worse so fill that tum.

If you don't have Alissa's book, get it. She's got the BEST raw chili recipe in it. I was one of two vendors at an expo this past summer. I had raw chili; they had chicken. The chili was gone by noon and people kept coming and asking for me. Her chili is awesome!!!

• one to three cups frozen corn
• ¼ cup olive oil
• Celtic salt to taste
Mix above together in a large bowl.

• 2 carrots
• 2 celery
• 1 red bell pepper
• ½ medium onion
Chop each type of veggie individually in the food processor until finely chopped, but not pureed. Add to above.

• ½ to ¾ cup sun dried tomatoes, soaked & drained
• 4 tomatoes
• 2 avocados
• 1 Tablespoon freshly grated ginger
• 2 Tablespoons chili powder
• 2 teaspoons ground cumin
• about ¼ generous teaspoon cayenne
Process to sauce consistency in food processor & add to above. Stir to combine. Heat to finger-warm in a saucepan, or place in a baggie & dehydrate until warmed through. May be portioned into baggies & frozen.

When it is cold and I am wanting something warming, I heat the soup in my dehyd for an hour or so. Really helps. (I think you are wanting something warm rather than a baked potato.)

For something warm I still take tea and I also sometimes have a spoon of miso in a mug or warm water.
Do not need anything like that yet as the weather over here is glorious. I have only had my T shirt on all day and I have been outdoors for most of the day. I hope it lasts as I am enjoying it. Who needs Florida.

Hey sport -

just saw you're in Ireland!! Very cool!

I'm 1/2 Irish and longing to visit the old sod!

What's the raw food scene like over there??

And also try Alissa's spicy fries to go with the chili that turns into chili fries. It's really good.

Tip; definitely let the fries marinate overnight.

I had it this morning for breakfast!! :D

The raw food scene over here is very personal. Nothing organised or no raw food restaurants but there are lots of farmers markets and lots of organic foods. I have plenty choice and never run short
I get my seeds in the health food shops but I get my nuts from the internet sites in the U.S. and buy a few things from Shazzie's site in the U.K. such as Maca and Lucuma and Purple Corn.

Which half of you is Irish. I hope that it is the raw half.
If you want to come over and need a raw house to make your stay comfortable you will be welcome to stay with me.
