Hi Everyone!
I'm on my second day 100% raw...yay me! It's taken me forever to finally make it through one whole day raw. I was just wondering if anyone else got a massive headache during their first couple days going raw. I'm hoping this will pass. I'm fighting the urge to pop a Tylenol...I know I can make it but just wanted some re-assurance that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I love to hear any advice or about any past successes going raw...the inspiration always helps! Hope you're all doing well!

I did get a massive headache when I started raw but in my case I think it was caffeine withdrawal. Any chance that you've cut out or cut back on caffeine? My headache lasted a solid day and half (at near migraine levels) and then cleared.
Just a thought....anyway, the detox stuff does pass. I'm nearing 4 weeks raw and lovin' it. I have days of some detox symptoms but they are balanced with days of higher energy. I'm just trying to enjoy the changes...and I actually do!
Hang in there...it won't last forever and it is so worth it!

Karen, yes a lot of people get headaches during detox. I certainly did. Mine seemed like mucous pressure in my head.
Drinking lots of water helps flush toxins out of your bloodstream, dry-skinbrushing helps release toxins also as do baths. Nap all you can and applying moist heat to your head, like those rice filled bags, helps relieve the pain and pressure.
They will be gone very soon and you will feel good! Definitely a light at the end of the tunnel! Better get out your shades, lol.
You can do this!
Many Blessings~

Very "normal" We all went through this.

findingme (Karen), yes it is very normal. I still have spells like that sometimes. I am a fruitarian (switched from raw/cooked food vegan to fruitarian several times). Today for example, I had an avocado and a grapefruit and it usually not my fruit choice, but that is what I craved and sure enough, that grogginess feeling I had went away.

Yes, a headache is totally natural, and popping a tylenol probably wouldn't take the pain away, if it is a caffeine headache.
I went through several detoxes while I was starting raw (because I kept starting over and over) and each time I did, there was that headache, and I wasn't drinking coffee either.
The fastest way to detox, is like Sweetgoddess has said, warm moist heat to the forhead, rest, etc. I also say infra-red sauna if you can get to one, we have one, so that is where you will find me when I am detoxing, then straight to the bath to scrub off all those toxins, makes it go much faster.
If you don't have a sauna, you can get warm or even as hot as you can in front of a heater, (I know its' the summer) go out and get hot in the sun it is a natural detoxer too, then go in, and cool shower off, if you can do this, based upon your schedule etc.
but know we are all here with you.

oo a sauna would be lovely!
I almost forgot to mention enemas. You can sometimes feel totally better within an hour of doing one. Valuable tool, that.

I have never done an enema, but once while detoxing I had a really bad headache/migrane that wouldn't go away! I layed in bed miserable resisting the urge to take a whole bottle of ibiprofin :p
than had to go to the bathroom for a bowel movement...within 15min.
my headache was going away..it was so weird since I had had it for a day or two...so I believe this to be true!

You guys are awesome! Thank you so much for all your advice!
I woke up with a headache this morning but it subsided in the afternoon. I can't believe I've made it through 3 days! This is crazy! And I don't feel hungry at all...actually tonight I feel a lot better.
I have another question...sorry about the nature of it, but did anyone else have slowed bowel movements to begin with? I feel a little constipated which is starnge because of all the fruit I've been eating (maybe that's why I had the headache). I checked out that site (thanks Pizda) and I know they mentioned it there but just wondering if anyone else experienced that.
Also, how do you skin brush?
Thank you sooo much to you all! I feel a part of such a wonderful community!

As you have already read, headaches seem inevitable with beginning raw/detox...I have laid in bed thinking I was going to die, but made it through..
And I still notice that I do not have regular bowels eating raw... what am I dong wrong?? If I do have cooked food, I almost immediately have movements. I wonder if there is something I am not eating enough of. I know in the beginning the diet change can cause some constipation, but after several weeks/months it should be regular,, right??
