I'm ready, willing and able to begin another fast. I'm going to state my commitment to my fast and begin fasting in the morning. Not that I'm eating anything more today, but I always like to start a fast on an empty stomach. Seems odd to me to start one after dinner LOL
On this fast I am choosing to drink a minimum of 2 litres of water every day and as much juice as I choose.
If I'm only drinking water, I'll up my intake according to my body's desires.
I choose to only consume raw live juices and fresh spring water or filtered water. (I have a source of spring water close to my home.)
I will surround myself with Love.
I will remember to be kind with others and gentle with my Self.
If I'm grumpy, I'll go take a walk, light a candle, take a bath or meditate.
I will not end my fast on a bad day.
I will not end my fast today, but I can choose today to end it tomorrow.
I will remember that I am a cherished child of The God/dess and my spiritual beliefs, my body and other people's knowledge will guide me during my fast.
My hope for this fast... is to fast for an extended period of time, although if I end up fasting for a short time, I accept that as well. I hope to find my centre and deepen my connection with my Self during this fast. I plan on taking time daily to meditate and to go for lots of walks.
I plan on returning to yoga. I haven't gone back since my miscarriage and so that is one of my goals.
I hope to continue healing from my miscarriage, healing that part of myself which needs healing and to release the weight from my pregnancy. I hope to heal physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
I welcome support and guidance - during this time.
in light,
Aleesha

Woke up this morning ready to fast. I dreamt about it all night last night and even kept waking up to check the time so I could get up and start drinking my water LOL Now THAT definitely shows me I'm ready to do a fast.
I drank one litre of water upon waking. When I pee, I'll drink 1/2 a litre of water. I like to do this every time I pee till noonish. Then I slow down my consumption or I'm up all night.
Not sure what else I'll consume today. May just be a water day today. I'll take it moment by moment.
I have found in the past that the more water I do in the first three days the easier these first days are. Water really cuts down the desire to eat and removes my hunger so much quicker than when I start my fast with juices. So I may just continue on straight water - but again - I like to go with my flow and I don't know what that'll be till it happens so I'm open, willing and able to simply allow this fast to unfold.

I love being stalked by you LOL (((hugs)))
I'm doing great so far. I've had about 3 litres of water which is less than I hoped, but I just am not really interested in drinking. I need to get into the zone!
I spent some time meditating. One of my cats - Inanna - is transitioning (passing away) and so she's on the couch wrapped up with us. I did a Reiki session with her and hope to spend the rest of the day with her. Fasting seems to be the perfect thing to be doing with her in this moment.

Tommorow there is a birthday party for a friend and I am going to really have to stick to my guns! Luckily its midterms so I can leave early!

(((Aleesha))) I didn't know. Sending you healing thoughts.
I'm thinking about a fast, walks, and yoga to do some healing of my own. Seems to be the best way to deal with healing, but I have a very hard time giving up food. I'll be reading your thread looking for motivation.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. :)

I have no energy at all today. I just want to go to bed and sleep but I have a cat who needs me and a raw food client who has an appt this evening... so I think I'll get some coconut water into me and "suck it up princess". LOL "Put on my big girl panties" and get done what needs doing.
Now I'm smiling...
Skygazer, nice to have you here. (((hugs)))
RawKnitster... let's hope we all motivate ya if that's where you need to go. Fasting isn't for everyone... and it's certainly not a necessary. But I sure do love it. Works in my life. :D

Broke my fast today. Day 19. I got weak and could not stop thinking about food and my birthday and so it was time for me to eat. :D
I really enjoyed the juice fast and it has got my boyfriend interested in doing a long juice fast/feast too.(how much juice do you have to consume in order for it to be a feast?)
I think he wants to take me out to Radha sometime this month since its my birthday month so sometime after that we will both be juice fasting/feasting together.
We shall join you lataz !! :)

congrats on your fast. 19 days is GREAT!!!

Aleesha! You keep this community so motivated I love reading your posts!
I want to run up to the store right now and pick up some young coconuts. I can save all the meat in the freezer to use when I am done with my fast.. But I am also using this fast to refrain from indulgence. Which includes spending... i love buying things, especially at the grocery store!
On this same note, I realized that I am a little too indulgent in TEA! Not that that is a bad thing at all. I love tea, I have for a long time but one thing I am hoping to gain from this fast is some freedom from the sweets.
I didnt have a sweet tooth before but now I have a major one and cannot drink tea without it being sweetened by stevia. I think I will limit my stevia usage as I am drinking the tea way too fast. I dont even sip it, I gulp (when its not too hot)!
Ok, bedtime!

Day two for me. The lack of caffeine is really hurting but otherwise I feel good. Yesterday evening I craved nuts and dried fruit. I noted this and moved on and that was ok. I like to have my juices sweet so this morning I started with pineapple, carrot and plum. later on I can face a more savoury one!
Good luck to all and love and light - especially to your cat Aleesha.

I am planning to fast again starting this Saturday. I had alcohol last weekend and can't seem to shake the effect it has had on me. 3 days later and I am still exhausted and feeling like crap. My poor body! The stress of the last week of term probably isn't doing much good either.
I am keen for a semi long fast this time. I think that I need to make plans/be organised to do it though! I am also interested in doing the juice thing in the week and then halving the amount of juice or water fasting for the weekends. Just to see if I can slow down and rest in the weekends and be a bit more full on over the week.

I love tea, I have for a long time but one thing I am hoping to gain from this fast is some freedom from the sweets.
well fasting can certainly assist you to do that. perhaps try to make your juices more green with a little apple to sweeten them... but stay away from oj or pineapple juices since they are very sweet. ;)
i really like having young coconut water during my fasts because it's just soooo darned good for me. ;) mmmm mmmm goooooooood. it's my fast food LOL
I am also interested in doing the juice thing in the week and then halving the amount of juice or water fasting for the weekends. Just to see if I can slow down and rest in the weekends and be a bit more full on over the week.
sounds like a great idea!!! perhaps go to just water on the weekend with a juice only if you need it. that's what i do... seems to work for me.

Thanks. My cat is still here with us. My hubby cuddled with her all night on the couch. I came in the living room this morning to see them cuddled up. It was so beautiful. He soooooooooooooo loves her and she him. They are such a pair these two. (((hugs)))
I've lit candles and we are sitting with her now. She's very calm this morning - which is nice.
I usually have pineapple with spirulina powder mixed in. I don't usually mix it with other juices, mostly cause I just love it so much and I can't wait to add more stuff to it LOL
Started today with water... will have more coconut water today as I need to use them up before they go bad. I'll order another case today from the market.
Remember everyone... surround yourself with love while fasting. If stuff happens that you have to deal with that is stress-filled... just remember that it's not who you are, it's just what is happening. Stay centered and loving in everything you do.
love and light,

I think I will try to get some young coconuts from the store today, and use that for my sweet tooth.
greens is a great idea as well. Normally, I drink green juice every morning. BUT i THINK i..... BLENDED UP PART OF MY JUICER IN MY VITAMIX!
worse...
I DRANK IT!
I didnt know I did it of course, and im not sure if I did.
for my juicer there is a little plastic peice that screws on the blade/grater thing. I havent been able to find it anywhere. Since I keep my vitamix and juicer on my counter and use them often sometimes I will store parts of either in the vitamix container. I was making carrot/beet/spinach juice the other day (in my vitamix) and there was really loud crunching sounds while it was blending, but I figured it was the carrots or the beet. Only later that day when I wanted to use my juicer and couldnt find the peice did I think of the possibility...
There is no way THAT juice was going to be beneficial! But I did put it through a strainer, SO maybe I didnt drink too much plastic/metal... Either way, good thing im FASTING!
What about wheatgrass juice? What do you all feel is a normal serving of it? Can i use my vitamix to make wheat grass juice? How much do I need? Its so expensive at the juice place near my house!
Aleesha Sattva
10-13-2009, 03:52 PM
you can use your vitamix but it does heat it up... so not as many nutrients.
one ounce shot or double shot is standard with wheatgrass. :)
too bad about your juicer... can you order a new piece?
i'm sitting here with my cat - she hasn't passed away yet. hubby had to go to work so she's not overly pleased... i'm off to cuddle for the afternoon...
love to all,

I am still water fasting I have bnot been on line for a few days. I decided not to weigh myself till November 1 it just feels right. I have a sore throat but nothing too bad. I am still very cold and can not stand going outside. I hope everyone is doing well. I am going to start taking a picture every week to see if I notice any difference.

(day 3)
Today I am headache-free and feeling pretty good. I feel a little tired but not as tired as I have been feeling on my junk food existence. My back and sciatica is playing up a bit especially last night but with gentle walking of the dog, that has eased too.
I'm surprised to admit that although my other half has been cooking SAD food, I haven't been the least bit interested. The sniffles that I was coming down with over the weekend has disappeared while he has a full-blown barbed-wire throat and streaming nose!

I forgot to mention at the beginning of this thread Georgina, sorry... whenever I create a fasting thread I ask everyone to not discuss food. When we are fasting sometimes talking about food, smelling it, seeing it on tv etc can set us into an "I gotta have it now" space and so I try to keep fasting threads (the ones I start not other people's) free from food.
that's great you got to witness first hand the benefits of fasting georgina. seeing your body use it's energy to heal you and his is getting sicker!
rawmom if you do wait till november 1st i'm sure you'll be very pleased with what the scale says. good choice!
i weighed myself this morning and was pleased with what i saw - i'm down 6 pounds and today is day three for me. i haven't drank any water yet, but it is beside me. don't know what i'll drink today, probably just water but i'm not holding myself to that... it doesn't really matter to me what i fast on... it's the fast that matters.
so if i need to have a juice, even a thicker juice like cantaloupe or tomato... i'm cool with that. i don't have any desire for that in this moment, but we all know how things can change so quickly when we are fasting.
having to sit here with my cat - as she gets very distressed if i get up - is gifting me a unique opportunity to really focus on doing just water though... since i don't need to have any energy to comfort her... it's a lovely opportunity.

I just put this on my blog... thought I'd share it here.
Fasting is light - in the body and soul.
Fasting is Light - as it shines and illuminates our shadows.
Fasting is calm - a serenity washes over my brain, gifting me fleeting moments of numbness which isn't numb at all... it is actually calm.
Fasting is release - from dis-ease and toxins.
Fasting is release - from the world of eating. Food food food being the focus of our thoughts so often during the day.
Fasting is release - from old out-moded habits.
Fasting is love - what better gift can you bless your body with than the ability to heal and cleanse itself without drugs.
Fasting is love - a deeper appreciation comes from this state of mind.
Fasting is change - one moment you can be calm and blissed-out and the next struggling to keep fasting.
Fasting is change - looking deeply at your Self.
Fasting is different - from your daily regime.
Fasting is different - people look at you with awe and confusion when you fast.
Fasting is healing - gifting your body the time to heal and your mind the time to absorb.
in light,
Aleesha

I am so jealous of you! I am seriously backed up but I am going to make an appointment with a colon hydrotherapist.
I am now on day 10. I have been blogging my fast but if I wasnt I probably would forget. In the past I have been so strict about what I am going to consume and so on, and doing this fast as a juice fast/whatever I feel up to is really allowing me to reach new levels I feel.
Today I drank some kombucha and just a tad of coconut water, yesterday I water fasted, with tea. It was not hard at all! I also took a nice long soak in the tub with some epsom salts to draw out some toxins since I am not releasing anything right now through the bowel.
Now I have to get started studying for my African Art History midterm this afternoon and tomorrow I have a job interview! I have green juice defrosting in the fridge and I think I will have a glass of orange/lemon juice before I head off to school and a couple of shots of wheatgrass before my test (I am able to get fresh pressed carrot juice and fresh wheat grass shots at my school, cool huh!).
Hope everyones having a good time!

I am so there with ya on this. I loooove just going with the flow. In my world... fasting is hard enough without putting more limitations on myself. Allowing myself to just go with the flow... having a juice or not, having tea or not... it just assists me to not only fast longer, but go so much deeper into it.
I'm thrilled with how deep I am in this fast and it's only day three. I feel like I've been fasting for a few weeks already. :D

don't ask where the burst of "get it done"edness came from. but i just juiced up 3 litres of cantaloupe juice and a litre of pineapple.
i sipped on 1/2 the pineapple and froze the rest. froze the cantaloupe as well. it'll be nice to have some juice in the freezer ready for consumption if and when needed.
i'm sipping on some coconut water for the rest of the afternoon... may have some warm water later if i get chilly. so far i'm warm today. of course i do have on two pairs of long underwear and my long underwear shirt. LOL

What about if it is watered down? I can never make juice in the vitamix without adding water. How much should I drink?
I feel like there is a rock inside of me! Nothing is working and its making me feel ill, and I actually feel like its holding me back a bit on my fast, as though I could be making really good progress, and usually am by this time.

I just drank a quart, so we will see what happens. I also bought an adult coconut because I remember getting some movement from drinking the juice of that by mistake when I intended to get a young coconut (Normally I would never, the thought even grosses me out). And some epsom salts because they are like a salt water flush but a little more powerful.
Today I had the apple juice, so I think tommorow I will try the coconut and if that fails I will move on to the epsom salts the next day.
As far as enemas go, I have been trying! Daily! There is just one solid poop in there that doesnt want to move.

I was tempted this morning (and have been the past couple of days) to stop my fast. Its really stressful for me to not be releasing anything and thus, not get the results I am hoping for.
BUT
I dont think putting more food into my body is going to help me with this clogged up matter. So I will continue. I took 2 probiotic pearls, which I know will probably awaken my digestive system, but Ive decided thats OK. If it does anything to help me with my 'problem' then I am willing to go through 3 days of a grumbly tummy again.
I have also decided that I am spending far too much time indoors! Fasting during this season is not the greatest because you dont want to go outside and there is no sun! Any ideas about what I can do for fun outdoors in a foggy neighborhood outside san francisco.
Im sorry to hear about your cat Aleesha, losing a pet is always hard. My grandfather is really sick right now and probably wont live long either, so I am on the same page as you. Another reason why I dont want to stop fasting, I want to be able to sort out my emotions without food to numb them.
My roommate got my boyfriend and me tickets to a fancy wine tasting in the city tonight. I couldnt refuse, he really stuck his neck out to get them with his company. Im going to go and get tiny glasses of wine and hold onto them for awhile and then ask my boyfriend if he wants to finish my drink for me, that way it will seem like I am drinking some of the wine and I wont be rude or sabatoging (sp?) my fast!
I think I am going to make some grapefruit juice too aleesha! Maybe a grapefruit/lemonade. I feel like my backside has been a bit of an unsightly landscape, if ya know what I mean? Does grapefruit juice really help?
Aleesha Sattva
10-15-2009, 04:12 PM
i have no idea if it helps. i'm drinking it because i enjoy the flavour. i'm not that fond of grapefruits but the juice makes me happy!
i wouldn't think a sip or two of wine will harm your fast... probably go straight to your head though. but it's a totally personal choice and one only you can make. i support your decision either way (((hugs)))
i agree with you about putting food into your body. it isn't going to reduce the problem, only add to it. have you tried the cascara sagrada? it works really well. perhaps stop at a juice bar and get yourself some apple juice?
i have no outdoor fun ideas... although i love to walk - so going for a walk would be fun for me.
i just got home. had a green juice from the juice bar (apple, spinach, celery, parsley). i had a really stressful day but i seem to be coping... well at least i didn't slap the woman at the mall LOL

I have decided to join you all. Thanks for your response Aleesha that I could do the fast anyway I wanted to. I've always been so rigid and only done the MC and never even considered juice fasting. I have done water also, but after a few days my joints begin to hurt so have mainly stuck with the MC.
I bought a new juicer (Green Star) which I LOVE and had been juicing so much that I did not feel hungry all day and was losing weight. So, I think juice fasting will be a delightful experience for me. I was literally forcing myself to eat dinner because I was not hungry.
So . . . today I started with the MC. Drank alot of it and water and did not feel hungry all day. I'm overcoming an addiction to Tylenol PM which I use to help me sleep so I'm bracing myself for some serious detox. I'm a full-time college student so I studied and sipped all day. Also started back to meditation and chanting and it felt good to get my spiritual practices up and running again.
Now I'm sipping on my Smooth Move tea and excited to know that tomorrow I can do this fast whatever way I want. The thing I love about fasting is the way I sleep. I do not miss the Tylenol PM when I am fasting and the dreams are do deep. I could actually get addicted to fasting just for the amazing dream sequences.
Well, hope everyone has a good night!!!
Aleesha Sattva
10-15-2009, 11:46 PM
I hear ya on the dreams... some weird ones indeed.
Just a little note... if you are having trouble falling asleep at night or waking in the middle of the night and not being able to fall back to sleep here's a breathing exercise for ya:
Start breathing in to a count of four and breath out a count of four. After a few rounds of this, continue breathing in at the same rate (count of four) and slow your out-breath to a count of 6. After a few rounds of this, extends your out-breath to a count of 8 and then eventually to a count of 10.
How you know you need to pull back on your out-breath is if your in-breath becomes frantic or gasping. If that happens, just reduce the amount of time with your out-breath.
As you focus on your breath, you will gently fall asleep. ;)
As for fasting... I have a detox headache tonight. Nothing major but enough to make me just wanna go to bed now, which I'm about to do. It's been a long day... too much running around and dealing with the death of our cat (((lovin' her))). Anyway, an emotional day indeed.
I'm still trying to deal with my miscarriage. It weighs so heavy on my heart. I feel so empty with my womb empty. I've never felt like this before... and it's exhausting. I hope though that this fast will clear much of this grief and assist me to move forward.
Oh and I had a HUGE poop today!!! *huge grin to go with my huge poop*... made me very very happy indeed. I loooove to see it coming OUT. Ohhh yaaaa baby!!! Out out out.
Well I'm off to bed... tomorrow is another wonderful day just waiting for me to explore and experience...

Thank you for the exercise. I will give it a try. After a God-awful night which I did not sleep much and felt horrible, I feel much better this morning. Evenings are always the worst for me on a fast. I could literally taste the medicine (Tylenol P.M). Today is a beautiful day and I'm glad to be up and alert as opposed to how I woke up every morning, groggy from the medication.
Today I will have water, smoothe move tea, and a great drink I made last night when I decidede to juice fast--apple, peach, grape and pinapple juice. (Can't wait to drink it) and MC. I have to get to the supermarket tomorrow to stock up.
As I lay in bed last night I read The Amazing Liver And Gallbladder Flush and planning on when I will begin doing my flushes. My colon hydrotherpist suggested the book and I am eager to take my health to the next level.
Well, on to Day Two and continued healing.
Hugs and lots of love to you Aleesha as you continue to heal!!!!!!

mmmm that juice sounds yummy. have you thought of adding some powdered spirulina to it? that'll take it to a nice level of health for ya. you'll get the cleansing of the fruits with the healing of the greens at the same time! :)

I will try that Aleesha. I going to go to the HFS today and stock up on everything. Like I mentioned before, I've been so rigid about fasting that adding something like you suggested makes it seem (to me) like I'm not really fasting, however, I like the idea of the health benefits of adding it. I think that this juice fast is going to open me up to so many new things and possibilities!!!!!

I'm back home after being given the opportunity to forage on some friends land. I didn't stick just juices but did stick to fruit (pineapple and melon mostly). I am happy with that as I couldn't expect a fasting body to hike thither and yon on juice alone. I feel great.

remember... this fast is YOUR fast. you get to make it whatever you wish. whatever you need in that moment. there are no rules, no fasting police. georgina needed to consume some fruit during hers... good for her... others choose not to... good for them.
this is all about what YOU want... remember you have control, you are in power. (of course our body is really in control... but we'll pretend it's us LOL)

Hey Aleesha! Still stalking you! SOunds like you're doing great.
LOL on your BM,.. Better out than in!:p
SOunds like you are doing great, Your pineapple spirulina combo sounds like the BOMB! unfortunately, my body only wants lemon juice at the moment. Im not even having my usual hankering for ginger... wierd.
having a detox headache too. Only happens on water/lemon fasts, never with juices.
:( to hear about your cat. SOunds like you were prepared for it though. Im sure she'd come back and visit.
Actually, to think of it, Do animal spirits come back and visit us?
I had a dream of a cat I had long ago and I still felt the same love for her. None of my other pets have come back to me that way though.. hmmm.
Anyways
Happy fasting Y'all.

Nub, you could add spirulina to your lemon juice... it's still citrus and so your body will absorb all the iron! I have no idea how it would taste... but you could start off with a little and see how it is???
I believe they do. I have a dog who was my childhood dog. We have a pet rat who was a cat we had. ;)

Yippppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
I just tried the calm ease... that someone recommended. OH MY GODDESS it is sooooooooo freakin' sweet and gross. Reminds me of pop. I've added a huge amount of water and still can't get it down. ewwwwwwwwww So glad I bought the trial package instead of the 32 oz container! ew ew ew ew ew
I feel sooooo crappy. I have a raw food client in 30 minutes. I'm glad its over the phone and not in person... I'd have to cancel if it was in person. I can lay down and talk to her - so it'll be good. Of course my skin aching and my head pounding isn't helping me in this moment... but hey, detox comes when it comes.

Im with you, I am giong to lay off of counting days for awhile. I am blogging my fast and have been labeling each day of my fast so thats why I have been keeping track, but I think I will just start blogging the posts and go back and add the dates later.
That being said, I am now on day 12!
I went to the wine tasting last night and did have a couple of sips of wine and felt alright, a little buzzed. But my poor boyfriend was so sick when we got off the train because he was drinking his wine and my wine (we tried 12!). It was actually nice because I felt like I was able to really taste the flavours better.
Im still having trouble moving my bowels. Really bummed about this. This is my laundry list of failed poop methods
smooth move tea- FAIL
sea salt water flush- FAIL
enema- FAIL
epsom salt water flush- FAIL
apple juice- FAIL
I will try cascara sagrada, and I am now taking probiotics while fasting. Its not that these methods failed, its that I am failing. My intestine is just not strong enough to move whatevers in there. I can feel these things working, and I will go, but it will just be watery, it wont get whatevers blocking the way out.
I could feel the apple juice work very quick but still nothing moved. Im so glad for that tip though because I would rather drink apple juice than do a SWF or drink smooth move!
I *hope* a colon hydrotherapist I spoke to in my area will trade me some art for her services. She seemed interested. If I can do that I am sure that the rest of my fast will bring me great results.
Still, I am feeling good. I think I need to be more active though. Trying to poop is taking over my days because I will do a SWF or enema and not be able to move anything and then I get sick.
Im going to shift my focus on going out and doing stuff instead of pooping, until I get that colonic of course!
Sorry for such a long post! Power through those detox symptoms, ay?

calm ease is magnesium - it's supposed to help with stress. it tastes HORRID though, i won't be trying it again.
as for counting the days. i never count the days, i just allow them to unfold. i find my flow is nicer that way.
as for your colon... have you tried some yoga? perhaps child pose and then doing child pose with your back on the floor. do you have a rebounder... that always assists me as well.

I just finished day 4 of MC, and I am really releasing a lot of weight. Unfortunately, along with that comes a lot of toxins and I had a horrid day yesterday....pounding heart, throbbing head, and I truly felt like giving up.
I am so glad I didn't! I was rewarded with a great day today, really sweet, blissful and empowering. I love days like this.
This is the longest I have ever fasted, and I honestly can't believe I'm doing this. However, this is my appointed time to fast... I feel it deeply, and I am so proud of the success I am having.
I finally got rid of the "I Can't do it" mentality. I realized that it's not a case of I can or I can't, it's you will or you won't, you do or you don't. And I will do it!
I AM doing it!

Sending healing vibes your way Aleesha.
Had MAJOR detox symptoms yesterday!!!!!! I felt simply terrible. A friend suggested that I stop the fast for a couple of days and eat lightly and then I'll have a couple of days without taking the Tylenol P.M. in my system. Then start the fast up again. She thinks it's too much on my system to go right into a fast after using Tylenol P.M. so extensively. Thinking about it. Detox is confining me to the house and I have LOTS to do.
Yesterday drank Smooth Move tea and then 1 1/2 pints of apple/peach/pineapple drink and was tethered to the bathroom for a couple of hours. Will never do THAT again.

okay... you are drinking cleansing juices (fruit)... this increases your detox. if you want to slow it down... get some GREEN juices (healing) into you - want to really kick it... get 4 litres of green juices into you a day. you can, of course, stop your fast but i suggest if at all possible... try to change up what you are consuming and get this detox out out out.
that said... i support you 100% in whatever you choose to do cause you are the only one who can make this choice. (((hugs)))
my fever broke during the night. whenever i did sleep i dreamt about my fever. so weird. i have a slight headache and am pretty dizzy but otherwise... i think i'm through this.
sho... can i still come over and wear your bunny slippers and sit with you on the swing? i have cantaloupe juice in the freezer that i can bring and lots of young coconuts in the fridge!
okay so i weighed myself and i've released 10 pounds so far. i started fasting on monday. i seldom release much weight when i fast... so i'm pleased indeed.

O.k., decided to stay on my fast, however, I'm just going to finish juicing what I have here and then stick to MC. I do want it out, out, out and just must ride this out. At Whole Foods Market they have a drink call the Super Ginger Tonic drink which is Lime Juice, Ginger Juice and Honey. It is heated and so good. I'm sipping on that now. Thank you Aleesha.
Today I took a major step and through out my bottle of Tylenol P.M. I know it does not sound like alot but for me this is MAJOR. After not sleeping the first night of the fast, last night I slept simply heavenly and woke up at 6:00 a.m. ready to take on life. I felt great!!!!!! I have not felt that way in soooooooo long. So, no more sleep aides in the house and the fast continues. I have not weighed, but I feel and look lighter only after a couple of days.
Have a Blessed weekend everyone!!!!!

It will probably increase symptoms in the short run, but after a couple of days should be feeling much better. I just picked up all the supplies at Whole Foods market and the cashier asked me how long I was going to do it. I don't really ever like to tell people how long i'll be fasting because they get this horrified, concerned look on their face. The clerk said she tried it for a day and caved. I told her I'm tried it more times than I can mention, but just keep at it and if you really want to do it, you'll be successful!!!

i just had some cantaloupe juice and... well... i just wasn't into it. i've found, with this fast, anything at all heavy isn't what my body wants. i need light... very light. so i'll stick with water, coconut water and the occasional warm cup of water with or without some honey in it.
i really want to clean the cupboard under the sinks in the bathroom and kitchen right now. my hubby hates it when i clean or rearrange stuff at night... so i may have to somehow just disappear into the bathroom for awhile and hope he doesn't notice *giggling wildly at the thought*
not that he'll REALLY care... as long as i don't ask him for help LOL

Aleesha you are awesome!
I love having so much energy on a fast and not knowing what to do with it all!
I thought I'd join in and post on here, perhaps get a bit more feedback from experienced fasters, or first timer's, no matter!
I think I now understand the need for an alkaline body, and am going to strive for it now on.
For the past three days I have only consumed water and honey. Honey as we know is acidic..and let's just say I now know what it feels like to have an acidic body. Either that, or it was the mixture of acidity and sugars...
I was starting to feel unwell, I had that "heaving" feeling you get before a flu really hits, so i thought a nice hot shower would help settle my body. Once under the water my body tried to "purge". I have no idea WHAT came up, it was greenish and almost like phlem! It was only a few bits, but I am bewildered as to what that could have been!
My pulse felt too deep and fast, and my breathing was a little rough. After I got out of the water hubby held me and gave me water, then just sat with me until my heart settled.
I have never felt so physically scared before. I think it was the mixture of water fasting, honey, and being MUCH too physical since I began the fast.
I NEEDED greens. Hubby and I talked for about 2 hours about veganism, how people evolved, my thoughts on the modern society, etc...all of this just to help me decide to EAT greens, or drink them. Haha! Got a lot out of that discussion though.
I DRANK my greens, an entire head of bok choi and 3 zucchini! To be blunt, it felt orgasmic! My headache disappeared by the time the juice hit the bottom of my stomach. The I had a BM 5 minutes after...mostly water..and very green. I'm going to take that as a sign my body is becoming very clean.
Has anyone else had such an experience as this?
any thoughts or opinions are very welcome!
Keep on healing everyone!

honey has never bothered me when i fast but then i don't consume all that much of it on a regular basis. i have consumed a fair amount for a few days when i first began fasting... but it never caused me any problems. it sounds more like you were going through detox to me.
the green was bile... the rest was mucus which our bodies like to release lots of when we fast.
having a hot shower would give you the same results as a hot bath (or hot sauna)... i can NEVER stand up after one when i'm fasting. i always have a warm bath and then add cold water to cool my body off before i get up. then i go into my room and lay on my bed till my heart beat calms and i feel ready to get up.
when we fast, it's important to remember to rest. rest is soooooo important on a fast. today was the first day i have really done much of anything and even then, it was 90 minutes of effort (which i had plenty of energy for). (i never did get to that second bit of cleaning...)
so yes, doing too much isn't good on a fast but what you experienced in the shower had nothing to do with that IMO. it was the heat of the water.
the fact that the healing (green juice) assisted you also confirms for me that it was detox. greens tend to slow detox, whereas fruit juices speed it up.
that's my take on your day... hope it assists ya. (((hugs)))

My body's telling me off today,.. I wasn't on my best behaviour last night,.. ( you can read what I did on my thread) but im still fasting away. Im craving ginger again. I had some lemon ginger juice yesterday just before bed, to clean me out, Im on lemon water this morning.
I feel so much better emotionally, although there is still work to be done.
I love reading all your experiences on here.
I hear ya Aleesha about the heartbeat thing, It freaked me out at first, but I read about how fasting reduces blood pressure e.t.c so I calmed down lol.
Im having lemon juice now,.. Planning to have some apple and ginger in the evening.

Whatever your behaviour was... it was what it was. No guilt. There is no room for guilt on a fast. EVER. There is only room for love, growth and acceptance... and I offer you all of mine if you levels are low in this moment (((sharing)))
I'm down a little more in the weight department which pleases me. Today is the last day of week one and I'm officially down *drum roll please*... 160.2 pounds
Starting weight: 172.0 pounds
Day two: 168.2 pounds
Day three: 166.2 pounds
Day seven: 160.2 pounds
Total release for week one: 11.8 pounds
Total exercise: pretty much nil
As for yoga... I am going back to my regular daily class on Monday. I went on Wed night and I think I'm ready to go back. I feel stronger (in this moment) and I'm hoping I continue to find an inner strength to return to my life and begin living it again.
I never knew... never understood the devastation of miscarriage. I've had friends go through them but I never got it... I do now. It's so different than a death cause I never really got to know them. I did through meditation but not physically in a hold them in my arms kinda way. Just a feeling of fullness in my body, which when that was lost... I was left with this huge empty hole within.
That hole has kept me from feeling whole.
I think my fast is gifting me a w.
love and light,

wow 21 days eh? i'm so impressed. i'm hoping to follow your lead... but my fast is including coconut water. it's pretty much all i'm having on a daily basis... 1 litre of coconut water and water. sometimes i have 2 litres of coconut water.
but i don't hold myself to that... i do have other juices if i'm out and want something (we have a juice bar in the next town over to us)...
as for cold... the only suggestion i have is layers. i wear long underwear and long underwear top all the time. day and night (yes they do get washed LOL)... and then another layer (sometimes two) over that. wool socks AT ALL TIMES even when sleeping.
and that helps tremendously.
oh and warm baths... and warm water...

Thank you both for your replies!
At now I know what was ACTUALLY wrong. You know those panicked thoughts when you are met with completely unexpected and unfamiliar situations...
I've only had green juice a bit of honey just now for today, but I plan on juicing a head of kale, with some cucumber, and a bit of ginger.
I've had a decent amount of energy today, woke up with a head ache, but that went away after my 4 cups of morning water.
No BM's today, the water fast DOES clean the colon out faster than juice. On my last fast I was having BM a couple times EVERY day. I haven't had anything today yet. Some tummy gurgling and pressure, but not in "need to go" sort of way.
I'm off to rest and heal for the night,
I hope everyone else is doing well this evening.

I'm so glad you have some new knowledge under your fasting belt Adrienne. Cause it is difficult when you don't know what's happening to you.
I had another BM today... a small one but another one nonetheless. Still having one every day or so. But I never stress over it... it either happens or not. I really don't care about it. After all the fasting I've done... I always see it come out eventually LOL I'm patient, I can wait for my body to do its thing. I reallllly trust my body. I know it knows how to work, how to heal, how to grow... I don't need it to remind it to grow my hair or my nails... I never have to remind it to beat my heart or fill my lungs with oxygen so I figure it can manage BMs when needed. LOL
I went to a juice bar today and I have to tell you... I love my Greenstar even more. They asked me if 'this' was an okay chunk of ginger to add. This chunk was over 2" long and nice and thick. I figured... sure what the heck, I can have a major amount of ginger in this juice. Well I couldn't even taste it!!!!! Seriously, I couldn't. If I used that much ginger in a litre of juice with my Greenstar... oh man would I have tasted it!
Off to hug my juicers. I do love them both (ya I got a Champion as well).

I have been taking so many stool softeners/laxitive/ juices with a laxitive effect and enemas that all the poops I had to release were liquidated!
I also found out I should do a parasite cleanse, anybody done one of those before?
I havent been on the best behavior either these past couple of days, never ACTUALLY breaking my fast but taking in things that are not healing while fasting.
But its today, so Ill worry about doing stuff today!
I just had a long soak in an epsom bath followed by a cool shower so I feel very refreshed.
I have been drinking lots of apple juice because I am now officially addicted to the stuff, thanks alot allesha! (j/k)
Tonight I am giong to pick up a watermelon and freeze some juice to take to school this upcoming week. I think I will also ride my bike up to the little store with the young coconuts, the sun came out so a bike ride would be nice.
Now, Im off to make some cabbage/ginger/jalapeno juice! I wish I had some stevia to make it a little more drinkable. Actually, that might be gross.
I checked and I am on day 14! Hopefully that colonic and better behavior from here on out will launch me to the detox stages I wish I was at!
Im feeling good so I hope all of you are as well

how about adding some carrot or apple to your juice to sweeten it?
i personally can't stand carrot juice... but other people love it.
what i did for parasites was... i juiced garlic every day for a while... not sure how long. i knew when i was done... (i just knew). since you're fasting that may be a good way to do it???
and perhaps less expensive as well.
soooo glad to hear things came out okay (pun intended LOL)

Well, day 5 on MC was a toughie.
Woke up with heavy detox symptoms, but had to pull myself together and go to services at our Syngagoue, because I was the dance leader for the day.
I had to lead the dance worship and some of our dances are pretty vigorous! I had no energy and my head was spinning, but somehow I made it through. Thoughts of eating kept running through my head, but I dismissed them quickly.
After service, we have oneg together, which is a huge potluck meal. I felt so bad and those evil thoughts kept coming...."Just eat and you'll feel better, just a little bit won't hurt you." However, I bravely sat at the table surrounded by everyone and their plates of food and just serenely sipped my lemonade. The meal passed and I had faced another battle with temptation and won! I was proud of me.
After oneg, we went to visit my parents. I knew this was going to be a toughie... my mother will not take kindly to the fact that I am not eating "real food." Sure enough, she cooked a full dinner meal for us and was livid when she found out that I was fasting. I was weak in body, feeling defeated and doubtful, and her criticisms and harsh responses weakened me further... and I succombed.
I ATE. I took ten bites of food. And I don't know why I did it, but I did.
Anyway, I have learned that on my hard detox days when I am not feeling well, I need to stay away from negativity, especially my mother. Until I am a seasoned faster who can gracefully withstand the harsh criticisms, I have no business putting myself into a potentially compromising situation.
I am not down, though... I am still in the race!
I'll describe day 6 in the next post...

Recap of day 6 of MC:
Woke up feeling ecstatic again. Detox symptoms gone, head is clear, body is strong, and I have all the energy I need to clean my house and get ready for my daughter's birthday party this afternoon.
I didn't even want any MC lemonade. All I wanted was water, so I water fasted most of the day and felt great. Started drinking lemonade at about 5pm and had only 16oz of it.
The party went very, very well! The extended family arrived and we stayed outdoors the whole time playing volleyball, dodge ball, soccer and just horsing around. I had tremendous energy and could DO IT ALL!!!!
Food arrived (typical SAD party-fair to please our typical SAD extended family) and I had no craving for any of it. My SIL thought I was crazy for fasting but I didn't care :) I was strong and feeling the bliss, so I could handle the naysayers.
What I have learned so far:
Fasting is up and downs, highs and lows. Learning to ride the waves is essential for me if I am going to be a seasoned faster.
There are little eyes watching me! My four girls are closely watching mommy fast and are learning first hand what it is all about. I want to set a good example for them, about how to gracefully handle detox and how to smile at the naysayers and thank them for their concern. I want to show them that they will encounter moments of weakness and succomb, but handling those moments with courage and moving on is the way to success
.
I'm beginning day 7 today and I am feeling great. Wishing everyone in the Fasting lane a beautiful Monday!

Well Survivied the weekend with company in town. Did not think I would make it but I DID!!!!!! Stocked up on a bunch of lemons and fruits and veggies to juice. My friend used to live here and everytime she returns, I must take her to all her favorite restaurants. She swears that the Bay Area has the best restaurants in the world, so I just drive her arround to all the one's she loves and she is happy!!!!
It was sheer torture, but I just waited in the car for her and sipped on a Ginger Tonic and turned by hunger pangs into pangs of healing lessons. Everytime I feel hungry I sip and know that I am doing something so wonderful for myself.
The hardest part was after church where a gentleman sells the most delicious raw foods. As I walked by his booth, the smells were heavenly!!!!! He asked why I was not stopping and I just said I'm fasting. He nodded and I hurried away still relishing in the smells of his foods and vowing to become a "regular" again when my fast is over.
Dreams are the best. So real and vivid. School is super busy this week so I'll be in the books the entire week. I find that being busy on a fast makes the time go by alot easier. After my initial days of bad detox, I'm feeling great!!!!!On to Day 5.
Have a Blessed week All

Reading your posts made me realize how much I'm not craving food on this fast. I was pondering this in bed before I got up as well. But reading your posts really put it into perspective for me. What I do, when I go to a function is bring a HUGE amount of juice. Usually 4-6 litres (one litre is one quart) and that way I cannot possibly not be sipping or gulping LOL if needed at any moment. Most times, I come away with all or most of my juice in their mason jars. But having it there with me makes a huge difference. Oh and I always drink a litre immediately before leaving for the function... that really helps as well.
Yesterday my hubby and I went out for a day alone. It was lovely. My kids were busy with friends and so we had time for just us. We stopped and I got a cup of tea, which I didn't really enjoy as it seemed very sweet. It was an orange tea - not sure what type. Anyway... later we popped into a juice bar and I picked up a litre of beet, apple, parsley, celery, spinach, ginger juice. I liked the first part of it... but then wasn't really into it. I drank it though... cause I didn't want to waste it.
I'm finding on this fast all I really crave is coconut water. That's it. I am drinking water... but the last two days I haven't really wanted it either. So in this moment... I'm doing coconut water. Who knows what later today may bring... I'm open to whatever it is.
I'm not setting an intention here... but in meditation last night I realized I would like to fast a min of 21 days... perhaps closer to 6-8 weeks??? We'll see how it goes. If my fast continues as it has... 8 weeks will be no problem. This is the easiest fast I've had in a very long time. *in this moment - cause that could change and I am open to whatever comes*
So... back to yoga classes today. I'm feeling very strong and ready for it.

I am sooooo glad you are experimenting yourself instead of just accepting what someone says. This is so important. We never know how our body will react. I'm so happy for ya!

I looooooooooove this. All of this. Fasting is. It just is.
You can't say fasting is hard cause it isn't always hard. Is it sometimes? Heck ya. But is it always... no way. Fasting can be going soooo well and then in a split second... you crash and stop fasting. The next day you look back and think "What the heck happened???" - That's why I always state that I won't break my fast on a bad day... only on a good day so that when I want to just give into the moment... I say to whoever I'm with (or myself if needed) "Sorry I can't break my fast in this moment... but I can tomorrow if I wish" It really assists me. Doesn't always work LOL cause heck we are human... but it has assisted me greatly many times.
I just waited in the car for her and sipped on a Ginger Tonic
Wow... you ARE strong. That is an amazing day. ;) Well done!!!
As a somewhat seasoned faster I have to say... you are all doing soooooooo great. I'm sooooooo happy to be reading how well you are doing. Giving into our desires is part of the fasting experience. Not giving in is also a part. Both are equally important. I wanna run up, hug you all and give you a huge gold star!
So we'll have to settle for this instead http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x87/recyclinggoddess/attachment.php-2.gif

LOl I feel honoured to be fasting with you Aleesha! you're an inspiration.
Im craving fennel. Ive only ever tasted fennel Once, but I keep thinking about it., Have to get some tommorow.
Anyone know some good fennel juice recipes?
Lots of (((hugs)))) all round xxx
Funny you should mention fennel. I had the most consuming craving for any melon, coconut water and fennel! I bought not one, not 2, but 3 honeydew melons and 2 cartons of coconut water (no fresh, sigh) on my way home from work. I had a bulb of fennel at home already, so I got in, put my bags down and just blended the 3 together (melon with skin, seeds and all) squeezed the juice through muslin - couldn't even wait, I drank a whole half litre as soon as it drained through - orgasmic isn't the word. Felt so good! I got 2 litres out of the lot and will finish the rest tomorrow :D
Happy fasting ladies!

another case of coconuts comes in for me tomorrow. yummmmy.

Today was my first day. I had 32 oz green juice, 96 oz water w/ lemon, 2 kombuchas, and coconut water. I took a nice walk outside in the sun. It was a beautiful fall day. I also went to hot yoga (not bikram) for the first time in a long time. It was really good and I was surprised to do as well as I did. However, I have a pretty bad headache right now and I don't know how to get rid of it. I think it's low blood sugar since my green juice didn't have any fruits and I don't think I had enough juice overall. Any suggestions for headaches?

Hello all,
I realized this morning I am already five days in. I forgot how easy it is to get "into the groove" of things.
As I put on my fasting thread, I spent the majority of the day hiking. Almost 7ish hours of being in nature..I arrive at the park just around sunrise, so I didn't see a single person until noon. It was great!
I brought a LOT of carrot and cucumber juice, along with water with me. I kept a very light pace and just enjoyed the calm. I even managed to catch a few fall stranglers. Who would have thought warblers would stick around until late October! It made my day though! I also was able to see four beautiful does today. Two of which snuck up beside me so silently, if I had noticed right away I could have reached out and touched them. So beautiful..
I am dedicating myself to strive for a 21 day fast. I am focusing on the "one day at a time" mentality to get me there. Working well so far.
I have also realized that I am using honey as a crutch. I am consuming too much of for my liking and I feel it is interfering with my fasting. Tomorrow I am going to juice 10 or so pounds of carrots, keep some in the fridge, and freeze the rest into divided servings. I need to be more prepared. I have been using honey as my go-to item when I feel the need to chew, this way if I have a heck of a lot of carrot juice I won't have an excuse not to drink!
Physically I am well today. The hike really loosened my joints, so THAT feels amazing still. Slight headache once I got home, but that is fading now. Two small BM's today, not just liquid this time which concerned me as I have been feeling very light and empty, but I am VERY happy it's not still in there!
I had a good nap earlier as well. I've spent the evening reading info on raw diet for cats, really loving THAT, and just sipping water.
Continued healing to everyone.

Hey hey hey
One more day of fasting down!
I am so jealous reading about your hike Adrianne! I want to go on a hike so bad. I think I am going to plan one! Though it will be more of a walk where I live.
I had a really good day as well.
I started my day off with some coconut water, then took the bus to school. At school I had some frozen watered down pinapple/cantalope/chard juice I made. What a tasty combo! As the day went on I was feeling really headachy and hungry and tired! I shouldnt be tired because I slept so much last night. Went to bed at probably 11:30ish and woke up at 9:30ish. So I went and bought myself a fresh pressed carrot juice and shot of wheatgrass from my school juice bar. Felt better instantly. I drank water for the rest of the day at school. Before leaving to ride my bike home, my boyfriend needed to go to trader joes. I bought and drank so much grapefruit juice there. I have been craving it for so long.
I know its pasturized, which isnt ideal, but the h.f.s. near my house didnt have ANY grapefruit NOR organic grapefruit juice, so i bought the stuff from TJs. It really hit the spot.
Now I have a friend over and shes coming back inside from her cigarette and I am going to go hang out with her!

So... that heyfever isn't hayfever. It seems to be a fluish thing. I have just had like half a ton of ginger and 5 cloves of garlic and got some honey. I am going to lax out a bit on the fast, still try and stick but have honey and lemon etc...

Yesterday, i had tons of carrot/ginger/orange juice.
I also had grapefruit juice
and tried Aleesha's Lemon spirulina suggestion.. , the spirulina clumped up a bit, but twas still good.
I think my body is sick of carrot juice, i got grumpy after I had that.
Im working tonight, so Im gonna try fennel, apple, ginger and some berries to take to work.
Im looking for new recipes to try as I always stick to the same.
The honeydew melon juice sounds divine though!
Glad to see everyone doing great on their fasts.

Enjoy your yoga Aleesha!
I slept in a today, which felt wonderful. My dreams are so stunningly vivid..and I'm recalling even the tiniest of details. It's been wonderful.
I've just been doing laundry and cleaning, and taking care of pets. My kitty is actually ASKING me for a raw shrimp in the morning now, I am quite pleased!
I juiced 10 pounds of carrots, and 15 apples this morning as well. The apple juice I've been sipping on, and the carrot juice has been put away for later use. The apple is almost too sweet for me today, so at least I am completely turned off of eating honey right now.
1 BM this morning too, a "normal" one, so obviously I've got some cleaning out to do :) .
I'm off to relax and enjoy my quiet time before I go to work this afternoon.
Good day everyone!

Hello All: I had a good day. Had a colonic and felt great afterwards. Made the mistake and got on the scale and did not see the numbers I wanted and got down about this fast. Feel like I'm drinking two much fruit juices, though I've been having 1 1/2 pint of fruit juice and 1 1/2 pint of vegetable juice and lots of waters. Tomorrow I'm just going to have water. On my way out to classes. I have alot of energy which is good because I have lots of studying to do.
I got up quickly today and felt light headed and then I said Oh yeah, I'm fasting. (Tee, Hee). So, today is Day 6 and i'm moving along. A friend came over and I wanted to quit and go to our favorite restaurant, but knew how horrible I would feel after so I'm still here.
PS. Congrats. on your poops Aleesha!!!!! I know how good that can feel when you have not done it in a while.

I should try some interesting juice recipes and post them but... well we all know how to make juice and I think keeping them simple is probably benificial. I have been thinking about trying golden kiwi but they have just gone up in price. I guess I will see what interesting things strike me at the vege market this weekend. Cucs are getting cheap but I haven't quite had the nerve to juice them yet.

i see at blog your talking about grainy nut milks . well ive also a cheap blender and mine were grainy . now i first soak my almonds to soften which helps , 4 or more hours . then i also after blending up the almonds and water strain it thru a paint filter bag which gets all the grains , almond milk / banana / carob powder / date smoothies are by far my favorite drink

One last post for the night,
Just wanted to mention that I am finally hitting some decent detox> My headache from yesterday was numbed a little bit overnight, and was barely noticeable this morning, but is back in full power tonight. I feel sad, a little anxious, and just down overall. I've been focusing on a past family issue too much this evening, or at least too much of it being negative thought.
One other thing, I lost my glasses on the walk home from work. I have horrid vision with anything more than 4 or so feet away. When I got outside my apartment I stopped to help an older couple try to find a bunny. Someone had dropped it off in the parking lot last night, and is still hanging around. I think I dropped them during the search. I went out with a flash light afterwards, but no luck :/ . I had dropped them at work and the lense fell out, so I had them in my work pouch to carry...argh..
So ontop of my other detox emotions, I am trying VERY hard not to get upset over this. I can't really afford new ones right now, since I'm out school I don't have coverage for now. If I save up for a month I can, but argh!
The rest of the work week is not going to be very fun..
have a good night everyone..

such a good idea to not weigh yourself often on a fast. once you start making it about weight - and your weight release slows - it makes it hard to keep fasting. at least that has been my experience in the past.
my weight release has slowed... so http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x87/recyclinggoddess/chalk.gif weigh myself anymore LOL what i don't know won't hurt me (in this case)

My ex's mum had this big thing about cucumber skins being toxic which she had passed onto him and so if we ever had cuc she I always had to peel them(I would do a crappy job) cause I thought it was silly they are the greenest part and the yummy part!
Aleesha, that reallt doesn't sound like fun. Im not a huge fan of mazes. I dont mind wooden ones so much cause I can climb over them to get out usually! That being said http://www.christmastrees.co.nz/maze.html don't worry, it isn't about Christmas! I like the designs.

Take care.
This is exactly how I feel right now, except im 10 days ahead of you! I wish I could have a colonic every other day to try and get all the poops out! That would probably be overkill...
I am definitely going to cut down on the fruit juice. I know that this is holding me back. Its funny, I am not being very strict about this fast, but fasting for a long time... and other fasts I have done and been pretty strict about I have made so much more progress. I think I will try to speed things along by waterfasting this weekend (which for me will be thursday, friday, and saturday) I will do all of sunday but have an event to go to in the evening and I am going to bring some juice to it.
Does it count as water fasting if you drink coconut water as well? *crosses fingers in hopes that Aleesha is online*

a proper water fast as far as fasters are concerned is only water.
a water fast as far as i'm concerned includes coconut water. at least mine do in this moment.
but remember... your fast is your fast. you get to make the rules, break the rules, change the rules or scrap the rules entirely.
so... in your water fast... is coconut water okay?

I think I am going to go water only.
I haven't ever done a water fast, I have done a liquids fast, including veggie broth and juices and MC lemonade. And I have done the MC. So I think in the future, I might include coconut water. But since its only going to be for a little bit of time and I have nothing to do but homework and I want to get things going Im giong to go water only.
I am a little scared. I dont know why. I wont die, am I afraid of being hungry? Juice fasting is SO easy most of the time. Still, my decision is made. I even told my boyfriend I needed the weekend to myself.
Tips? Experience?

yes... allow yourself to rest lots.
if you need to sit down for a bit, then do it.
plan NOTHING... but be open to doing something if you feel the desire.
get a few good fasting books to read (always assists me)
and most importantly... IF you really need some energy, be open to adding in a light juice and remember... breaking a water fast is much more difficult but if you are just going to continue to fast afterwards on juice... it's an non-issue.
and... surround yourself with LOVE!

thanks thank thanks!
Im going to be by myself most of the time. I guess I will just listen to lovely music and (if weather permits) spend time in the sun, because I looooveee the sun!
Now I am excited for the water fast!
Ive got my schedule cleared and it will be a good break for my pocket book as well! All I have is homework and a lot of it so I can just kick it at home and work on stuff. I hope I am in the mood to nap while waterfasting, because normally i never nap but the idea really appeals to me!

or meditate!
you know what i love about water fasting. nothing to prepare!!! no juices, no washing of anything... nothing.
it's like a break from everything!
you could also fast from media while you are water fasting.
fast from sight for a few hours (blindfold yourself)
just a thought...

I know, I was just thinking about what I will grab at the HFS by my house and then I thought, psh, what would I go to the store for?
Sometimes I think I am addicted to buying things.
I like your idea of fasting from media. But really I will ahve to see what happens then. I might need a break with all the schoolwork and not juicing I will be doing.
Say I end up doing well with the waterfasting, How likely, or maybe just how good/bad an idea would it be to do that while going to school?

seriously? oh i have sooooooooooo got to try this!!! sounds like it would be very 'light'. was it?
i just can't do heavy juices right now.
It was light but not as light as your apple, ginger, parsley combo. It was just what I needed though - hit the spot so well!
I'm enjoying the heavier juices right now. My fave yesterday was pinapple and coconut water.YUM! Funny, all the apples, lemons, oranges, kale, parsley, ginger and carrots I bought in preparation have hardly been used. I'm going with the flow, consuming what my body asks for. I think I'm getting addicted to fasting, lol. Told hubby I may not break soon - depends on how I feel. He's fine and supportive, so I'm happy!

My lungs are itchy. It's weird but this is the second time I've experienced this. It's unmistakeable - lungs are really itchy, I want to reach in and scratch??? I had the same happen when I got to bed 2 days ago - and I'm coughing up mucous - getting over a cold I had 2 weeks ago… Is this weird? Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Sorry, I'm at work and have to keep short but must post this otherwise I'll forget. What can I take to help with lung clearout?
Thanks in advance guys!

Hi all. Day one!! I am excited. I know lots have been fasting for at least a week but reading yesterday really opened my eyes to the idea of a fast. This is only my second fast ever. I did a short 3 day MC in August and I really loved it! I am prepared with juice for the day - carrot, apple, celery - and I bought a bunch of oranges to jusice up throughout the day as well.
My goals:
~listen to my body
~meditate daily
~journaling my experience and let negative thoughts be detoxed from my body
~daily Tai Chi practice and cultivation of Chi throughout the day
~evaluate myself and the process at three days then take it one day at a time from there
You all have inspired me to begin again and I am commited to this path and period of self-discovery.

See how you are doing, keep juices with you in case you need the energy and other than that... I would!
My lungs are itchy. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
no I haven't but we itch when we heal so...
Hi all. Day one!! I am excited.
I loooooove the way you stated your commitment. Welcome welcome welcome!!!
Okay so yesterday my hubby bought himself a kitten. She has not stopped meowing since we got her. I think she's super stressed out but if it doesn't stop I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow (giving her one day to settle).
Super super busy day today... so I'll pop in here and there. Gotta take my car in to get fixed, pick up two tarantulas in a city an hour away, pick my car back up and then tonight I'm getting a tat - super excited about that. Actually I'm getting a few tats. heehee, I loooove my ink.
So I've drank 1 litre of water so far, suckin' back a litre of coconut water and then I'm... http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x87/recyclinggoddess/thtigger.gif
Off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of oz!!!

What sort are the two you are picking up?? When I finally have a space to set up my reptile room and I so getting a couple, probably start with some rose hairs I think they're called. Easier temperament..
I am excited for you! And I hope your little one has calmed down by tonight.
Today I have already had about 4 cups of apple juice, I woke up early, made it, diluted it some, and just finished it off. I woke up and ALL I wanted was apples, I felt like a mad woman haha. Much better now though, sloshy but calm.
Headache is GONE, I feel great. I had a rather unpleasant dream though, that's the down side of them being so vivid during fasts, they stick with you..
I'm off to work, then hubby is borrowing my father's car to pick me after wards and we're off to a big indoor market in the next city over. HUGE sale on bananas and apples, so excited!!
Have a great day everyone!

Hello fasters! I'm joining y'all a bit late, but it'll probably be a short fast anyway, and based on my last three attempts I could really use the support... :)
I have Addison's Disease, and have a hard time keeping my Blood Pressure up (I refuse to take the steroids, even if it kills me). I had to break fasts 1-4 because my BP crashes on day 3. So I tried to bulk up some more (I'm still a bit underweight, but better) so maybe that will help me get thru day 3 with no crash. I also scheduled my first colonic ever for tomorrow afternoon, so maybe that will help too. I hope so. I'm a li'l nervous to have it done, but I'll carry my sauerkraut juice and kombucha with me in case I start crashing.
I'm hoping to do mainly a water fast, but I may need more salt, so I've got lots of celery, kale, apples and ginger for juice, and kraut juice and kombucha for BP help.
I printed out your fasting poem Aleesha, it put a big ol' knot in my throat and a couple tears in my eyes because I'm trying soooo hard to reconnect with my body. I'm tired of feeling so sick that I disengage into two different selves and my brain tells my body how much it hates it. It's not a good way to live...
So my goals for this fast are:
1. Get rid of whatever parasites my dog and I might have
2. Go longer than 3 days
3. Heal my stomach so that it can digest all this beautiful raw food I give it
4. Heal the rift between my brain and my body
5. Get a step closer to being a raw food success story
6. Finally start a blog about this crazy year I've had
7. Re-Learn how to be thankful for my life
Thanks for the poem, and thanks for letting me join you! Good luck to all of you in accomplishing your fasting goals.

first you know you can't juice banana right? well you can't if you didn't know. ;)
as for the Ts. i'm picking up an OBT p. murinus (very aggressive and bright orange) and i'm also getting myself a GBB (Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens). We've had Ts for years so have lots of experience with them. A rosy is a nice start... my first was a GBB. Super pretty and easy as well.

Dana, here's my two cents...
I would not suggest you do a water fast. You blood pressure and energy is waaaaaaaaaay lower on water. I would suggest you do a green juice FEAST. That's 4 litres of juices which all have greens in them. Sounds like you need healing and that's what it'll do for ya. Try to get a head of celery in a day and as many fresh herbs as possible.

10-21-2009, 12:37 PM
Hey Aleesha - Thanks for the suggestion; I did green juices the last 4 tries and my BP still crashed, so I'm trying water this time to see if it's better, as it's supposed to be the deepest cleaning/healing. Since I've never tried it, maybe it's what I need and I'll never know until I try... If it doesn't work after the dreaded day 3 I'll switch to green juice. My body's pretty weird, what seems like should be the best thing often isn't. My instinct says water fast, so water fast it is... ;)

okay so here's a new suggestion: stop focusing on this. let it go. breathe it out of your body.
perhaps your mind is creating it or will create it. so breathe it out. whenever you begin to think about it, just breathe it out of your thoughts and body.

Good Afternoon everyone!
So far today has been great. Had my undiluted carrot, apple, celery juice and some kombucha, lotsa water and a cup of tea. Feeling good, got the grumblies going on but hey, gonna happen. Head's a little bothersome but I'll take it if it means the bad stuff is going away!
I would like to try green juices. I know Alissa is big on them for their healing power. Trouble is, I have an old black & decker juicer and it soesn't juice greens very well. Goining to do a search for good greens juicers and make do in the mean time.
I have a whole new outlook right now. And I love it!

I have really low blood pressure too!
I would do what Aleesha said and not go with water, thats sure to cause your BP to plummet. It may be the most healing for your condition, but maybe consider a longer juice fast and incorporate days where you will only water fast.
With low blood pressure you should exersize. Walk around or go for a bike ride to keep your blood pumping. squat jumps are good for getting the blood pumping as well. To do this you will need energy and greens are full of energy because its the chlorophyll which is synthesized sunlight! Green juice is like sun juice!
Whatever condition you have, its likely that you feel so bad because your body is overly acidic. To reverse this, you need to consume lots of alkalinizing fruits and veggies that will pull acid waste from inside the body, and release it with a bowel movement! Fresh green juice is one of the most alkalinizing things you can drink!
Also, IMO Dont worry about underweight or overweight, at least not right now. The ideas of underweight and overweight are part of contemporary medicine that shuns raw food, fasting and colonics! Who are they to know? Take your body into your own hands. Weight is just a number. Focus on feeling good. If you focus on alkalinizing the body, getting rid of acid waste and doing what is right for you your body will heal itself.
Hope you have fun at your colonic! I love them and think they are the best and its the quickest way to remove tons of stored waste (full of toxins and acids and mucus) out of the body. Have a few and its like night and day!

One more thing about colonics, if you can find a colonhydrotherapist who practices GRAVITY colonics, go for that! They are the most gentle and actually strengthen the bowel!
p.s. (this is more towards Aleesha) After my colonic I have now had a poop every day! Really tiny poops, but poops! And my enema I did this morning went much more smoothly than ever before during this fast! :D

Hey new fasting friends! Thanks for all the advice. I'm totally letting it all go, not planning anything for this fast, just going with the flow. If it's a short fast, it will be beneficial. If it's a longer fast, it will be beneficial. If it's water or juice or both, it will be healing no matter what!
The colonic is the gravity kind, and is being done by a fellow raw foodie so I'm really excited and feel very comfortable and confident in her! Amazing how many raw friends there are even in this small Florida town...:D
And I'm looking at the library for fasting books, can y'all recommend any other authors? they don't have Shelton, but they do have Safron.
Off to do Detox Yoga DVD (my favorite!) I hope you all get to do something you love today too

Hello All: Still fasting away. Can't believe how fast the days are going by. Today I had a pear/pinapple/strawberry drink, water and the MC. My pants are really getting loose on me and that feels really good. Was out and about and saw so much food, but I refrained. I'm getting good at letting the moment pass.
I'm really loving my sleep and my dreams. I had a vivid dream last night that I gave someone in my life a piece of my mind. It felt so good!!!!!! I love sleeping while fasting and I am exhausted by 9:00 p.m. and been hitting the sack really early and waking up early feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the world.
So, wishing everyone a good evening. On my way out to church service and that will make me feel really good when I get home.
Take care All.

Evening folks!
This morning I woke up early, but stayed in bed dreaming til kinda late. I only drank water and rode my bike to school, where I continued to only drink water. At around 5 or 6ish I started to get hungry and feeling like I needed something. So I biked home (which was hard, because it was windy and I was tired) and went to the HFS and bought a kombucha which I drank in the store.
I was feeling pretty full from the kombucha but still light headed/ ALMOST headachy and tired when I got home so I made spinach/lemon/apple/ginger/tomato juice. Which was watered down but about 16 oz.
Still full but not feeling better I went for some tea and i chose kava and blue tea, which are both very calming and now Im feeling super out of it.
I feel like I have this pressure in my head and I cannot relieve it. I dont want to just keep drinking because thats not going to do anything. Its 8:30, Should I take some chlorella caps?
Any advice? Maybe a few sips of my roommates pasturized oj? I dont want to drink pasturized juice though!
p.s. For those of you who might gag at my juice combos, I sorta just throw whatever ive got together because it usually tastes the same to me, though only with veggie juices.

Your tone almost sounds like you are sad/failing/*insert feeling here* about this. There is nothing wrong with ending a fast. This is when you celebrate what you have achieved, what you have released... where you are in this moment which is different than when you started.

Hi guys, *waves*
HAd my first ever shot of wheatgrass today! wow, not as bad as everyone made it out to be, its a little bit sweet actually,... cabbage juice actually tastes stronger in my opinion, but I felt it cleaning me out all day a little bit of mucus action going on here.
WOke up so grumpy, and angry, I wore my tights the wrong way round, with the label sticking out, I didnt do my make up properly, I was just so AAaaaarghh! I seem to get very angry and grumpy when im really getting into a fast. I had some fasting tea and a breather and calmed right down. Im much better now lol.
Im doing mainly greens and water for a while because thats what I feel like. I had cabbage/spring greens/fennel/lemon/ginger juice this morning, and then wheatgrass juice at the juice bar on the way to uni and then fasting tea/water all day.
:D
hope everyone's doing great!

Hello All: Having a really good day. I let go my preconceived notions on how this fast is supposed to go and how much weight I'm supposed to lose and feeling much better about the fast now.
Had another colonic today (i'm doing a series) and boy, oh boy. The stuff that came out of me is unreal!!!!!! I feel so clean inside and such great energy that I decided to take a walk around the Lake. It is lovely 80 degree weather here in No. California and I'm really soaking up this late Indian Summer that we are having.
Today I drank water, carrot/parsley/spinich/lemon/celery juice for breakfast and peach/pinapple/strawberry for lunch. Will sip on a lemon tonic and water for the rest of the day.
My colon hydrotherapst told me that after the fast I should not be drinking the fruit juices everyday because it is too much sugar. I had a nutritionist tell me the same thing. Anyone have an opinion on this? I'll just have to do my vegetable juices if that is the case.
Happy Fasting All!!!

Commencements, I feel like I am on the same page as you as I am now (18th day in for the laughs) letting go of how things should be going and how much weight I am releasing.
For me it was just that I realized I could be putting more effort in. Thats just for me personally though. I started my fast off strong, refraining from spending too much money and sticking to the basics, and then sort of went into a funk where I got a bit lazy and I would drink some pasturized juices and the like... My intent with this fast was to drink mainly green juices, but not to limit myself. But I went a little overboard and I was a bit down because of it. But if I just do what I set out to do, then there is nothing to worry about. I can get whatever experience I get from it and not hold myself back with thoughts of "what if.."
I also put a little note on my computer that says "if you dont do it now you will have to do it later". Because detox is a priority of mine. I want to be healthy for life. I am young, early twenties, so I am getting a good start, and I know I have my whole life to detox. But eventually (not any time soon) I do want to have kids and I want to be in the healthiest body I can to nurture growing babies! Now I sound like a maniac. Who thinks about this stuff!
Also, as far as the fruit juices while not fasting, its true that you really shouldnt be consuming all fruit juices. It can lead to candida, or feed it if you are yeasted. Its just too much sugar to take in at one time. You can do it while your fasting because your taking in nothing else but while eating its a different story. Small amounts of fruit used in veggie juice is fine though. Veggie juice can be drunk in liberal amounts, eating or fasting! The fruits I know that do not contribute to yeast or bacteria growth are grapefruit, green apple, and berries. Otherwise, just eat your fruits or blend it to keep the fiber (once your done fasting that is).
I have a couple of questions for everybody:
I am on my 18th day of my fast. I think for the next 3, and possibly 4 days I will be waterfasting. I added a TINY amount of real salt to my water and it makes me feel better.
Does anybody else do this? Do you think this would hinder any aspect of my water fasting?
Also,
Who here has done a P+B cleanse? I was thinking of finishing up my fast with P+B shakes... My digestive system is weak, not terrible, just a little weak, so I am curious to how everyone feels about this. What are the procedures to take in doing a P+B cleanse? How long? How much? When? and what to expect? I am unsure of how long to take the shakes for because I dont know if I want to do it at the end of my fast (im going for 30 days) or if I want to wait till my fast is over and I move on to blended foods as a way of breaking.
One more thing, I was giving myself my enema today and I felt really good with release, though not too much solid material came out. It was mainly icky brown water. I think most of the waste that can be moved without colonics must be out for now, and everything thats coming out is rehyrdrated bits of the dried up stuff still stuck inside there. Anyways, I am seeing less mucous in my release, which I think is a good thing, meaning that I am having less to get rid of? My concern is that when I gave myself the enema, at the very end there was just a tiny bit of blood that came out, on the TP not in the can. Is this something to be worried about? I went again just now and there was nothing. Any similar experience?

Skygazer: Thank you for your response and it feels good to know that someone is on the same page as me. You are doing great to make it this far and I must say I admire the fact that you are so young and doing such great things for your health!!!!!! However your fast tuns out, you will have learned so much about yourself and your body and that cannot help but be good.
I do not have answers to your questions as I am new to all of this and I'm sure someone else here will have the answers, but just wanted to say hug yourself for the wonderful job you are doing and thank you for the information about the fruit juices. I will decrease them after the fast and concentrate on vegetable juices.
Take care and Happy Fasting!!!!!

OK, this is a weird question, but has anyone ever experienced thick pee? I kept going all night and it wasn't normal. Not sure what it means, if anything...
I've seen thick pee in my work. Sadly it was on a renal ward - patients losing albumin. If it really is thick and foamy, I suggest you see a doctor Stella. To me thick pee = renal issues. I'm not saying this is what it is - you may be losing mucous - have a good look. Pee in a jug/container if necessary and inspect it. I hope it's nothing serious (((((HUGS))))). Please do take care!!! Bright blessings and healing vibes to you. x

Everyone is doing so well on their fasts! Congrats to you all!
I broke my fast today. I gave myself "permission" to. I am very grateful for the days I completed on my fast, and all the healing that was done.
What drove me to to end my juice fast was the overwhelming yearning for greens the past few days, and especially last night and this morning. I'm not saying I was HUNGRY for them, but it felt like a physical URGE to consume them. I was starting to feel ill this morning because I. just. wanted. them. so. bad. I called in sick to work, I probably could have gone physically but I needed a day of rest to wrap my head around this new experience. I am confident this was the right decision.
That said, I am going to begin a "Green Smoothie" feast. For as long as I want, and I feel very excited and almost "high" at the thought of all these greens I'll be taking in! last night when Hubby and I went to the grocery (one we hardly get to go to! Largely wholesale, organic, and locally grown..and pretty darn cheap!). I got 5 pounds of baby spinach, 3 heads of kale, 2 head of collards, 2 big bunches of large dandelion, 4 heads of romaine, 10 pounds of carrots, soooo many cucumbers, 15 pounds of apples, and at least 6 bunches of bananas. haha I also got some fish for kitty, then apple cider and an organic dressing for hubby. ALL of that was 45 dollars...I AM DROOLING! and so is my wallet haha
I also had a bit of a mental breakthrough today. The phrase "weight loss" bugs the heck out of me. I've been trying to figure out why I get a little irritated after reading certain threads or websites/articles on raw food or fasting, or any health issue really. It's those two words.
I want to read about other health benefits other than losing weight. I KNOW that weight loss is a huge issue in our society, and a LOT of people truly need the support for it, so I do not condemn that. However, I really wish I could read a health article without the author sneaking in "oh! and you'll lose lots of weight too!", or "you'll experience clear skin, improved digestion, and *drum roll* easy weight loss!" .
I find this odd, as I myself have gone through the journey of losing a large amount of weight, you would think I'd be a bit more empathetic about the whole issue. I feel I need a break from the glamorous journey of losing excess weight. I am proud of anyone who does it, and I am proud of myself for doing it, but ARGH!
I started a private blog for myself on my green smoothie journey, and I wrote so much on just how NOT about weight loss this fast is. haha. I am hoping to continue the fast into the new year. Next year is the official beginning of my "new life". I will be starting a 2-3 year environment college course, moving waaay up to northern Ontario, starting a new life, possibly a house! SO excited, and I want to be a healthy, glowing, GREEN person!
I just wish our society could separate health and weightless, they are not always one in the same.
So there's my rant! I am still wishing everyone well on their fasts of course, and I support you all 100% for whatever your fasting goals are. My rant was simply a personal revelation on how happy I am that the idea of losing weight is no longer my main focus, and the frustration that so much focus is put on the loss of weight rather than the gain of health.
Keep on healing and cleansing everyone!

adrienne, feel free to continue to post here... cause green smoothie feasting is still a fast, just a different kind :)
i think transitioning to that is a GREAT idea.
as for everyone else's questions... i have no answers. amazing eh? i have nothing for ya. sorry. i know NOTHING about colonics, so can't answer anything there. the little bit of blood after the enema could have been from the hose??? i've never had an enema so i have no idea.
i wouldn't add salt to my water, but i have no answer for that cause honestly... i can't imagine why you would want it? celery is organic sodium which is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better for ya.
i'm doing good. i had a single shot (one ounce) of wheatgrass today with a fresh squeezed oj (strained) at my local juice bar. i felt the wheatgrass go to my head (not a good feeling) and my tummy isn't thrilled... but i wanted to try to start up with wheatgrass again... it's been so long since i did wheatgrass - it just hasn't been resonating with me. i wanted to see if i could 'get past' the 'not resonating' but alas... my body is not pleased that i did the shot, so i'll pass again for awhile before trying again.
i thought it was going to be a relaxed day, turned out super busy... and tonight is as well.
i need a day of rest!!! http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x87/recyclinggoddess/bang.gif
the good news is... i had the stinkiest poop EVER today. and it was full of the 'flakes' you get with enemas and SWFs... so i was pleased. i didn't do anything to cause it to happen, it just did.
i'm off... happy fasting everyone!
ps great time at yoga this morning... ahhhhhh just what i needed.

Hello All: I hope this day finds you all well. I am starting my day slow and sipping on some ionized water. I love this water. I've just started getting refills at Whole Foods Market and I just can't stop drinking it. I'm now sipping on a carrot/parsley/spinich/celery/tomato drink which does not taste the best, but oh so good for me. I'll have one more drink today and lots of more water and that's it.
I'm simply loving the sleeping and dreams. I'm at the point in the fast where I dream that ate something and become very disappointed, then I wake up and so happy that I did not break. It usually starts around this time. Alessha, thanks for the tip to break a fast the day after. That has saved me because evenings are the hardest and when I usually break my fasts.
So, busy day for me of gutiar lessons, walking the lake again (I enjoyed it so much yesterday) and studying for upcoming mid-terms. I must say I am really enjoying this fast. I am so serene and a good place mentally. This is my first juice fast and I really like it. My skin is glowing and my clothes falling off of me.
Take Care and have a good day All.

Hey sky - I had the bit-o-blood thing from an enema a while ago. I think it was from the end of the hose nicking something. Now I douse the end in coconut oil for lube and it hasn't happened again. As long as it was just a dot of blood one time you're fine.
RawJac - thanks for the info. I do have kidney problems (adrenals sit on top of them so they're kinda linked) My urine seems to have gotten back to normal, so I'm chalking it up to cleansing. If it happens again maybe I'll collect it.
Had my colonic yesterday. Lots of nastiness GONE. Yay! I started getting dizzy and shaky last night so I had a celery/cucumber/ginger/lemon juice. It tasted like heaven after 48 hrs of just water and a little kombucha! Then I got hungry and ate a bunch of grapes (I wonder if we ate at the same time Aleesha??;)) which woke up my digestion BIGTIME and I spent the rest of the evening and half the night pooping. I don't feel guilty because if it helped me get more junk out of my system I'm thrilled. Back to water this morning and juice later. I'm getting too skinny again so I'll probably have to switch to green smoothies tomorrow.
Adrienne - as someone who's thin and sick, I get really frustrated with all the weight loss talk too! I never voice it because I don't know what it feels like to be overweight, only what it feels like to be sick and underweight. That's why I really like Alissa's focus on health, and that your weight will stabilize either way once you're truly healthy. More raw food 'gurus' need to truly focus on this imo
Happy Fasting everyone and I hope you're all getting the check off some of your goals too!

Hey all! Day 3 going awesome!! Don't know how long I'll fast as I am really striving to ovulate with the full moon and I don't want fasting to interfere so I am thinking to end on Sunday with smoothies and fruit and start Alissa's 30 Day challenge. BUT if I keep feeling good I may just continue! Just gotta keep in mind the grand reason for my fast.
Canteloupe juice today - holy catfish AWESOME!! :) Sipping kombucha now and loving it!
I'll be juicing some some Macs tonight myself :) (took a break from the beet juice)
I have never had a colonic or done an enema either so I wouldn't have any insight... I have also never tried wheat grass. I have been really curious but around here there are no juice bars and I have only seen it at the HFS once. Someday!!
Looking forward to no work tomorrow and a full day of rest, reflection and Tai Chi. :)
Best to all!!

Wow, I cannot believe how sensitive some are to wheatgrass. I read about it all the time but I feel nothing like that when I take it. Even when fasting and I will have a shot to wake me up at school, I dont really feel anything. I think I will explore wheatgrass while fasting a little later this week. After the weekend.
So, on wednesday I tried to do just water all day, did most of the day but in the evening I had juice. Same with yesterday, except I had a little bit of wine  I told my boyfriend that I needed the weekend to myself to waterfast but that doesnt control my roommate, whose friends also happen to be my good friends inviting people over. One of my best friends came over so I hung out a little while and had a dance party.
That same friend got into raw foods after she saw how great it was for me and we were raw buddies for awhile but we both fell out of it around the same time. Now I am re reading one of my favorite books and she just checked the same book out from the library so its really nice to talk about stuff with her again.
This morning I am feeling hungover from the wine last night! It sucks because I have so much school work to do today but I am happy because I always enjoy the reminder of how toxic alcohol really is. But I pooped a little bit. I guess I have to make up for those beginning days when I wasnt going at all!
Aleesha, For the salt thing, I read somewhere that it adds a charge to your water, makes it a bit of an electrolyte drink. I used organic real salt and only a pinch. I like the effect it has so I think I will keep going. If anybody else trys this, lemme know how you feel with it?
Also, I already asked but I am going to ask one more time: any experience with the pysllium husk + bentonite shakes?

Why would fasting interfere with your ovulation? I ovulate and fast at the same time.
Feel like crap today. I was so surprised how quickly my skin became very oily after I ate - amazing how the body just works to get rid of stuff eh? I love my body and how efficient it is!

Hello everyone!
Aleesha- Thank you, I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate. I will keep my food details to a minimum though for you all you juice and water fasters.
stellaJewels- I wish the "guru's" would too! I've gotten into the habit of skimming until I get to the emotional/mental improvements of raw foods and fasting, much more enlightening/interesting for me at the moment.
My first day of Green Smoothies is doing great so far. I walked 4 km to the reptile store when I woke this morning to pick up feeders...aaaand I brought home a baby razorback musk turtle...AHAHHA! I have been researching these wee guys like crazy this past year and haven't seen them anywhere, not even at shows. Then BAM! I walk by this seemingly empty tank and the last baby of the batch pokes out his head and it's love at first sight!
I have him in a small quarantine tank for now. He is just lapping up the heat and UV rays in his basking spot. I don't think he had one in store *grumbles*. Very shy as expected, but gosh is he ever adorable! Eating some as well. I'll have photos when he's more settled. He's about the size of a loony at the moment.
I only had water until a little while ago. I made a GS of banana and 5 cups of spinach. It felt SO good. Near constant BM's as well, starting last night, very inconvenient, but I'm glad it's coming out.
One thing I'm proud of today; There is one SAD food that is my downfall, and just now I took it out of the fridge. But I STOPPED. Looked at it, remembered the pain I had from it from before my fast, mentally went through my list of commitments for my GS feast...then tore it up and threw it out. haha it felt very freeing! I have NEVER thrown out food before like this...
I'm feeling good! I've got my turtle, my water, and all the greens I can blend!
Oh! and of course I new wee guy will be RAW. I had to be a little stern with turning down the turtle pellets sold at the store, I've always disliked feeding those to ANYTHING. I've got a brine shrimp colony going, frozen blood worms, waxies, pin head crickets, and veggies/fruit of course when he's older. I'm also stuck between two name choices; Sir Ruthaford and Sgt. Pepper, opinions anyone? haha
Great job to everyone!

It's day 6 for me and I've broken my total fast and transitioned to an intermittent fast. I'm still counting my days as I'm keeping a journal on my thread. I'm happy with my decision and feel awesome. Decided I want to try total fasting with just juice and water for 2-3days/week and IF the rest of the week.
Oh, and I found fresh young 'jellynuts' at a local market! Along with fresh aloe vera leaves! Had one on the spot at the market (coconut water) and brought the leftover 'jelly' home to eat. Loved it! Psyllium & Bentonite - I HATE that stuff... HATE it!! Never have I had a good experience with them. Bentonite by itself is grand on/for the skin. I prefer cleansing, juicing or if you think colon cleansing must be done... Oxypowder.

Adrienne, I was so excited when I spotted the aloe leaves, right there at the market. They came all the way from Texas though, but still.... the coconuts are from Asia... I know I should stick to local produce but... I just am so into the tropical and desert plants right now.
Day 7 and I'm enjoying breakfasting on water and my melon+coconut water juice combo from yesterday. I feel so light and I'm just so happy inside! And my skin glows. My facial skin has had dry patches for a while now, I tried everything and I've been oil cleansing. Well, all I needed was a fast, lol. I love the way my face looks and feels right now. This being the longest I have fasted ever - I am excited!! I read nothing about ovulating while fasting, just thought it might push it back a bit since my body is in a state of cleansing and I really want to be on a full moon schedule. BUT, like I said, I'm only on day 4 and this is the longest I have ever been so I know I have lots to learn.
I have seen Aloe leaves around here lately - maybe I'll give them a go.

Hey Y'all - I tried P&B shakes a while ago, and they turned into a giant lump in my stomach, even with tons of water. So I definitely don't recommend them. I think Green Smoothies are a way better cleanser. Plus I think you said you're in your 20s, so I wouldn't think you have too much build up in your intestines. I kinda think some of those pics people post are just what the P&B look like coming out...
Feeling like all kinds of crap yesterday and today. My tummy still hurts from the colonic and more blood came out, plus I think I got an allergic reaction to whatever she used as lube. (sigh) Guess I'll stick to enemas if I need them. My whole left leg swelled up too and I can hardly walk. I'm shaky miserable weepy itchy and weak. Hating my body, and wishing it would just work right for once...
Starting Green Smoothies today for sure. Sorry for whining...:(
Have a better day than me!

Today is a straight water day for me. I'm deep enough into the fast (Day 10) to finally do water for a day. Exercised for the second day yesterday and it sure feels good to walk again.
Beautiful weather again in No. Cal and I'm just soaking it up and enjoying this fast. I keep looking at recipes on line and in my "uncook" books. Oh the torture!!!! I don't know why I do this myself each and every fast.
Went to Whole Foods Market last night to refill my water bottles and the food smelled incredible. Whole Foods has a Cafe Gratitute in it so I was completely tortured. But on other fasts I could not have walked in there and walked out without breaking my fast, so I feel really proud of ME!!!!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful fasting day.

This is what worries me about the p+b cleanse. Its supposed to get rid of mucoid plaque but I have a weak digestive system and I am afraid of the psyllium getting stuck inside!
Im so sorry you had a bad colonic! Your stomach shouldnt hurt from a colonic, I dont know why it does. Maybe you still have water stuck inside you? I was going to a colon hydrotherapist that never flushed me out compleletly and expected me to get the rest out in the bathroom, but I was never able to (weak peristalsis) and it always left me feeling really crampy so I would end up eating too much afterwards trying to comfort myself. Stick to enemas for awhile and when your ready to try a new hydrotherapist, take some coconut oil along with you and ask that she use that because you have had allergies to the lube in the past.
And dont hate on yourself! Bad moods and stress create just as much toxins in the body as food so try to stay in a good mood! Its great that your taking your healing process into your own hands and not relying on steriods and taking the easy route (that you would end up regretting later)! Its tough but try to look beyond the struggles your facing now to a future of a healthy and happy body! Its all about progress!

Loved it! Can't wait to try fresh aloe vera gel on my juices! I'm a customer for as long as that stall is around... unless I get a better deal.
Happy fasting all!
Do you juice the aloe with the skin or without the skin? i have an aloe plant in my back yard that I want to juice, but im not sure how to approach it.

Hiya everyone!!
Day one for me. I loved posting here in the Spring when I was cleansing, so I am back.
I began a Master Cleanse today. I am coping with the first days adjustment. I am so ready for this cleanse and then raw, raw, raw!!!
Sir Rutherford is a handsome little guy!
Psyllium & Bentonite - I HATE that stuff... HATE it!! Never have I had a good experience with them. Bentonite by itself is grand on/for the skin. I prefer cleansing, juicing or if you think colon cleansing must be done... Oxypowder.
Best,
LN
Can you tell me more about oxypowder. I guess I am unsure if it will work. I tried a product called oxycleanse, which was a pill not a powder and it did nothing for me.

stella, don't hate your body... love it. it keeps you alive - it allows you to move from here to there... it allows you to hug those you love and feel their hugs... so don't hate your body. cherish it. what we say has a great impact on what happens in our lives...
common, i never look at recipes when i'm fasting. that's the best way to end up breaking your fast. *covers eyes*
okay so this morning i'm about to drink a litre of coconut water. just took a litre of cantaloupe juice out of the freezer for tonight. i'm getting my tat finished today and another small one done at the same time so i'll be out for awhile.
today is a GOOD day!!!

Hello guys, sorry for so many posts, I still cant quite figure out how to quote multiple posts into one.
I am on to day 20. Yesterday was really hard. I have not been waterfasting. But its ok. Yesterday was such a drain. I was having a really tough time in the morning, because my roommates are SO MESSY and I cant keep up with them. It grosses me out. And I am afraid of bugs and stuff infesting our house because we have cats and they carry parasites and with all the dirty dishes and stuff its just really gross. Not to mention I am in terrible financial debt that I want to pay off now! I know these things take time, but I am having trouble finding a job and its frustrating.
SO then, I was venting to my boyfriend about all of this and he suggested we drive down the coast a bit and have a nice afternoon (it was really sunny, which it never is) and so we went out and then ended up having the biggest fight ever! I cried so much and it was so draining. I also didnt get any of my schoolwork done that I needed to do and I was really counting on doing that. Today I think I will turn off my phone and keep to myself and my homework.
Now that I have typed that I am going to try to leave it all in the past. Today is a new day and I think I will take a bath and make some juice. Its cold again today so maybe a spicy ginger juice. I have ten days left of my fast and I am officially NOT going to do the P+B cleanse. I am not overweight now, but I have been overweight most of my life and I know I have weak digestion and a weak bowel and I think I might not be strong enough at this point to take on the P+B. When I end my fast, I am going to cut out fruits entirely (except for lemons, limes and grapefruit). I am going to drink only water in the morning, green juice in the afternoon, and a green smoothie of blended greens and other veggies with or without grapefruit.
I still have 10 days so I am getting ahead of myself. But time is really going by quite quickly! Im not even done fasting and already looking forward to my next fast!
Now I am going to go through my house and find all the reuseable bottles and bags I can find to donate to my HFS. I am giong to go through my collection of paper (you start collecting these things when your an arts major) and donate them to my school. As well as prints and paintings that I can donate to my schools art guild to sell and help the students. I am going to start clearing my room of stuff so that as soon as I am ready to move I can.
Anyone know anything about oxypowder?

Fasting is about eliminating. Eliminating solid food, emotions, stuff from your life and from your rooms as well. That's what I love about it. It's not just about 'not eating'. It's soooo much more.

So would i run the aloe through my juicer? How much aloe? Do you think store bought aloe juice is just as good? Probably not.
While I am on this note, as you might have noticed, I am interested in ANYTHING that gets elimination going. So any advice ANYBODY has to offer is always welcome.
Im really bummed today, probably after yesterday, and because I feel like I am not where I want to be in my fast.
But I want to continue through the 30 days. I have come so far and want to go further. Before this fast I was not eating 100% raw, in fact I was eating very little raw and I am worried that I will go back to that. My will power is not the greatest. When I did eat 100% raw it was amazing. I need advice/ words of wisdom/ motivation/ anything.
Today is a low energy day. I will work on my homework, clean up the living room and go to bed early. My fight with my boyfriend is still unsettled and its sticking with me. I keep trying to remind myself that I am only myself and I only know what I think and what I feel. (I am ALWAYS trying to figure people out, which often gets me into trouble).
Maybe its pms for the period I stopped getting.
Any inspiring/good blogs for raw foods?

Evening everyone!
You all seem to get so creative with your juices! I don't think I've ever had more than two ingredients in mine. I should try some of the posted ones out sometime!
A fairly light day today for me. A lot of bananas in my smoothies though, but my body wanted them, so there we go! I blended the leafy bits of the two large dandelion heads, saving the stems for tomorrow! Also one tangerine, berries, 1/2 tsp coconut oil, and 1 tsp spirulina in total today for my GS's. I also just polished off an entire blended honeydew melon..not technically a "green" smoothie, but it felt very soothing.
I still feel a little worn and down today physically, and some major headaches, but over all very good. Work was decent, and hubby and I got SO much work done on the apartment afterwards. A huge load to take to the thrift store!
I'm off to play with pets and let my stomach settle from all the melon.

okay so... i've tried both types of aloe... both taste horrid but the store bought is so far beyond horrid... it's not even consumable IMO.
as for your fight. a dear friend once said to me (while i was fasting) that i needed to remember that i'm a little 'short' and 'snarky' when i'm fasting. that i shouldn't hold any grudges or upset towards ANYone... cause my fuse is super short.
since then, i've never held onto anything - cause she was right. so take this to heart my friend... chances are, you are being over sensitive, overly short with your fuse and you are probably super sensitive. (((hugs)))
I also just polished off an entire blended honeydew melon..not technically a "green" smoothie, but it felt very soothing.
When I green smoothie feast and/or support anyone doing one... I always say to them that they can have smoothies that are not green. A nice banana/cacao and almond mylk is a gorgeously wonderful smoothie which is a huge treat. So don't forget that you body is getting so much nutrition... you can (if YOU choose) make smoothies that are not green as well.
Tomato, garlic, ginger, celery, cucumber... with kelp powder, salt and olive oil is lovely as well. You can green it up by adding in parsley or cilantro.
My day is going great. Got one of my tats today, didn't get the other one finished, that'll be Thurs evening... sipping on some cantaloupe juice at the moment.
I'm off to watch a movie (the new transformer movie) so later gators!

I understand many people probably arent looking to loose weight, but did you achieve any weight loss after 19 days? :D

Day 2 for me. I am lemonading and loving it. I feel pretty fantastic for day 2. I slept and slept and slept... and spent a long time on the potty... all good. I think my body is/was really ready for this.
I feel calm and peaceful. Yes, food looks tempting and I cannot watch cooking shows. I just turn my thoughts to something else.. or have another lemonade if it is real hunger.
It is good day indeed!!
I am thinking I will segue off with smoothies.. green, pink, creamy brown.. I think my body would like that.
