View Full Version : Re-committing to Raw...
Hi there,
I've been on this forum before and I had amazing results with eating raw...lost a ton of weight, quickly and easily and happily, gained tons of energy and vibrancy... so of course I quit (eating raw and staying active on this forum) :(
Oh well. Live and learn.
Meanwhile, I've gained more than 20 lbs and am now dealing with severe lower back pain and sciatic and lower energy. I turn 40 next week- it's time to get serious. I've got alot of living to do for the next 60 years or so... and I plan on doing it healthily!
My main issue with raw is how to socialize with non-raw, non-vegan friends without feeling strange or even weirder now that I'm raw and not just vegan anymore (being a vegan was strange enough, I guess). I know that this is really MY issue....but I am reaching out for support on this. I know myself better now.
Thanks for letting me share. I look forward to connecting with you!

Welcome back to raw and happy birthday next week. I'm sorry that you're dealing with the things you're dealing with. Sometimes it seems our bodies really have harsh ways of putting their foot down to get what they want (mine sent me into head to toe itching - believe me, it's way more fun than it sounds... not!).
You said you know yourself better now so maybe... just maybe, it's time to get comfortable in your own skin, too and get happy with your decision. Yes, the comments will come and probably along with it some lame jokes, but you know why you're doing this and you know the prize that you're reaching for. You also know that you'll have the last laugh when you're 60 and more spry than a teenager while they're 60 and looking/feeling closer to 90 - on a good day.
I say embrace your "weirdness"... yea, even relish in it. You are giving yourself permission to pursue health and you're giving yourself permission to journey on a path that your body and soul yearn for and reach out for. How awesome is that? Most people aren't even aware enough to try for a half-attempt at health, let alone make a full-stop concentrated effort for it and here you are, seeing what needs to be done and more importantly, doing it. So imo, when they start on their banter, just let it roll off your back like it's nothing and reaffirm to yourself that approval from "them" doesn't mean a thing at the end of the day, and their weak words are nothing more than hot air, blowing about.
Sorry about the ramble. Sometimes, I just get going and it's hard to stop myself...

Welcome back!
Do yourself a favor. DAILY stand in front of a mirror and comment - OUT LOUD as to how well you look and feel (even if you don't think so) and say it with confidence. :D

Normal is over rated. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r137/iherd/weird.gif
At a raw food meet up THEY would be the weird ones, heh. Just depends on your surroundings at the moment. :D
Welcome back! I am apparently on your same path. I find that this site is quite addictive and get nothing accomplished in my house when I am here....on the other hand.....I tend to stray when I am not. Guess I gotta find some balance.
Look forward to getting to know you!

Welcome back Lara and best to your raw endeavors! :)
Some of them I hadn't seen until now. I appreciate it. I'm doing well, staying 100%. Pain is my big motivator so I'm staying in. I've had enough of not so good health and am ready to be my vibrant self again!
So thanks for the support. It really helps!
