Hey I wanted to introduce myself! I am new, though I have been lurking this site for a long time so I am sorta familiar with some of the posters on here! I am currently juice fasting and I have a blog where I am keeping track of my fast day to day.

I also look forward to posting on here with questions or answers!

So I guess I will start with this question: When you fast, do you fast to heal/weightloss or for spiritual reasons?

My intent with my current fast (im on day 7 now) was for healing and to lose a bit of weight. But I also wanted to focus on a spiritual aspect as well. In general I guess I would like to be more spiritual. I had plans for meditation time, and so on. But I have had some ups and downs through my fast and havent really done much as far as spirituality goes. I think that if you do everything right in a fast, consume the right things, make sure you are releasing waste matter, ect, the spirituality part naturally follows. You are taken to a different level of awareness with yourself and with those around you that a calming of the spirit (i guess?) is inevitable.
I am going to focus on making sure every bit of my fast counts because I want this!

Oh yeah, and I am aiming for 30 days! wish me luck!

wow you really have this all figured out. from my experience... fasting is. just is. it'll be whatever it decides to be and we can't really 'plan' or 'force' a fast to give us what we want.

i'm starting another fast tomorrow... we have a lovely thread in the fasting area of this forum where we support each other. feel free to join us! :)

Well, I dont have it all figured out at all.

I know that there are reasons to fast. All sorts of religions fast for spiritual reasons. All sorts of people fast to lose weight. We learn from animals who naturally fast when they are sick that fasting is a good healer.

I agree, with you that fasting is. That you cannot control where a fast takes you. And thats the part of fasting that I love.

But I try to keep connected with what I am doing and how I am responding to it because if its something I like, I wanna be able to continue doing whats good for me.

i hear ya about trying to keep connect with the flow... ahhhhh isn't fasting great. (((hugs))) i love it too.

i used to plan out my fasts, what i'd fast on and how much i'd consume... and then i just let it all go and just went with it...

or perhaps i just became a lazy faster... planning seemed like a waste of my energy LOL and so i just drank when i felt the need. --- actually i'm pretty sure i am just a lazy faster LOL

and i don't have it all figured out either... (not even close). :D
