I have finally quite smoking even though I went raw last January . I am really paying for it . I quit cold turkey about a week ago and my detox is almost more then I can bear . I cough every morning and evening for about 2-5 minutes really hard and this causes a really bad headache . I am getting rid of all that plegm from my system though . I have been drinking about 80 oz of water daily . I was really considering picking up some organic cough drops . I know that they aren't raw but I need some relief . Do you guys know of something to help me other then the not raw option ?

lemon juice and raw honey with crushed garlic. Just moosh it all up to a paste/puree and let a teaspoonful ooze down your throat when you need it.

agree with MT..you can make a tea to sip it too. Good for you for quiting. It'll be worth it once you're past this period. Imagine...all this junk was in your body!!

Agree with the above advice....I also use 1 tsp coconut oil mixed with about 2 tablespoons of honey and find it is very soothing.

Can't wait to see how it goes for you. Yes, imagine that stuff was in you!

Good for you for taking that first big step!:D

Hi Devil's A. If you can take 2 or 3 days off where you can relax completely, I would encourage you to just lie in bed, resting completely and drinking at least 8-12 large glasses of water. I've fasted at least 5 or 6 people off of cigarettes. Fasting is very effective and efficient because the body can use all of it's energy to eliminate the toxic debris. Once gone, there are no more cravings for nicotine, and your throat can rapidly heal as well.

Thank you . I also am still nursing a 14 month old once a day . Will the fast effect her badly in any way ? She is sick as well so the nursing has been the only thing she will take right now . I keep trying to give her other stuff ( she isn't fully raw and her daddy is SAD. ) , she has been eating some dates , nilla wafers , juice and almond milk .

Ah. I'm So glad you asked. Yes, she will likely be affected by the fast a bit, as toxins enter the milk. You might want to wait a few days and see if you can get her to nurse less while you fast. Though far from ideal, you could express some milk in advance (far inferior to fresh from the source, but better than nothing.) The child's being affected now by toxins in the milk as well, though they are being release much more slowly. But if you can spend three days and get most of it out of your system you'll both be much better off.

Loren thank you for your advice , it is most welcome and also thank you everyone else for the other remedies . I tried the coconut and honey and my coughing is much smoother and not as bad . Very sweet though . I will try to see if I can do the fast , but if not the other suggestions will be very handy . I will definitely welcome any more that anyone has .

i really disagree with loren. i don't agree with you fasting while you are nursing and your nursing your daughter is WAAAAAAY more important than you speeding up your detox.

way more important.

There's no problem fasting while nursing for a few days only. It's perfectly safe. The question isn't whether fasting or nursing is more important; as long as your body is toxic, you will be passing those toxins along through your milk. Much better to get as much of it out as possible in a few days and then be able to provide much better milk for the baby. By expressing some milk prior to starting you can minimize the amount of nursing while fasting and the baby will be exposed to very little of the nicotine while fasting, and much less afterward.
