Hi,

I am very excited to be transitioning from a SAD diet into a raw diet. I have been doing a lot of research have my kitchen stalked up with supplies, hoping to get a dehydrator on my next pay cheque. I am very new with these recipes and have been eating very simple raw foods to start. My only concern is the amount of nuts consumed! I have a lot of weight to lose and that is the main reason for wanting to start this new lifestyle. I just worry that my calorie intake will be too high to lose weight while consuming so many nuts and seeds. Obviously I am eating lots of fruits and veggies aswell anyway I do like this way of eating I feel better after just a couple days. I just hope someone can stop my worrying about all these nuts and seeds.
Thanks :)

First off, welcome! Second, do you have Alissa's book and DVDs? She thoroughly explains that eating nuts is okay PROVIDED you also consume greens and fruits. Youl WILL eliminate weight IF you follow a 100% Raw diet. You really should get her book!

No I haven't bought her book yet, I am going to do that for sure when the money comes available. Mostly now I have been doing all my raw research online

Alissa's book is great. The first half is very motivational and has many great tips and details of the raw vegan diet as she believes it can be followed. It really helps a lot. And it includes a 30 day program to follow that is very flexible to use. The second half of the book is filled with really great recipes. Well worth the money. It gives more bang for your buck than any other raw vegan book that I have seen on the market. I have seen small recipe books for $15 to $30 or for $1 per recipe to download them. I have found her book to be a great resource and even though I have had it since 2005, I still pick it up and just read thru it regularly. Especially when I lose my motivation.:o

Welcome to the site! I am sure you will love it here on RFT.:D

Hi,

Are you soaking your nuts and seeds? I find that they are much more satisfying that way and better for you also. The taste is incredible and you chew them more so you can suck all that flavour out. I mix mine in with a salad usually and a small amount is plenty.

My reason for going Raw (again :o ) is that it makes me feel amazing. Once I feel amazing, I can start thinking about losing weight if I want to ... and I will want to lol

Hi jojo, welcome to the forums :)

As Veganforlife mentioned, you will lose weight by simply going raw in the first place... nuts and seeds are good for you, all in moderation of course, so don't worry about eating them!

Enjoy the boards and the foods!
