After I threw out my big stove and put a stacking washer and dryer in its place, whenever I "had" to use an oven, I used a Toastmaster counter top model. It is not a toaster oven, but is the size of a large microwave. It has conventional settings like Bake, Broil, Slow Cook and Convection. On the dial where you set the temperature, it has a "Deh" setting. It only has 3 racks but it's pretty handy as a backup dehydrator. Cheap too.
I find it more than adequate for my very infrequent oven needs. It wouldn't cook a big turkey, mind you, but who's doing that here? Not me. I use it sometimes for warming instead of putting stuff in the D to warm. I only have a dehydrator that has a hole in the centre, and no way of making the spaces between the trays wider, so I am limited on some of those dishes that require large square spaces or adjustable trays. So my little oven does that for me.

Really!!wow. That is great too!
I actually still cook oven stuff for my family, as well as uncook raw.
These appliances are really handy. The tall oven is good for me too, as opposed to my lower and flatter dehydrator. When i need to go big .

Good to know for anyone that has to buy something now on this board reading this.
I don't think knowing these dual purpose appliances are available are known to many raw foodies.

Does it say at what temperature it dehydrates? My old small counter top convection oven had a dehydrate mode but it worked at 140-160 degrees so it would still cook the food.

I recently replaced it with the new Breville Smart convection oven which even though it doesn't have a dehydrate mode, it can go as low as 120 degrees, just 2 degrees off from truly raw. Anyway the longest the timer can be set is 2 hours so it wouldn't be too useful.

Is your oven a convection one? The fan is fairly important for dehydrating, and again make sure it's running below 118 if you want your food to remain raw.

Yes, it has the convection feature with the fan.

Thanks for the heads up on the temp. I have an oven thermometer so I will check it.

Besides the timer, it has a setting that is just straight "Manual On".

Dear Care4raw, I saw your post re; "found a dehydrator setting" on your Kitchen-Aid range...we also have an expensive Kitchen-Aid, and we accidently found the dehydrator setting, but we cant find it again! Please, Please tell us how to do it! My wife will be so happy...Lou & Marie "clou" Lou1234@att.net
