I need help!!!!
All the information I have I have used to help combat very soft enamel and therefore lots of time in the Dentists' chair, to no avail. I have spent over 50,000 on my teeth already....and now, I have more cavities and more crowns to be done and I'm just SICK of it!!!! I thought going raw and doing all the things you raw foodies recommended would help, but it hasn't and the Dentist said yesturday that I also have a root canal failure which resulted in an infection SO I have to go to the endodontist...... this is just too much for me to hear and need a way out of my teeth. I even suggested to the Denitst to just pull them all out and he said no. help please with any advice on why I have so many cavities and who do you prevent them yourselves?? I have stopped flouride and such because I have heard it was bad. Now what???
The Dentist always goes for the jugular....

Going raw can actually be hard on the teeth especially if you eat too much dried fruit and don't brush/floss immedietely after.
I met someone recently who had a lot of cavaties on raw and wanted to find a treatment; in her research she was told to rinse after brushing with celtic sea salt and when she visited the dentist 6 months later they commented that hers were the cleanest teeth they had ever seen. I have started doing this (really swish for about a minute) and indeed they feel and look cleaner.
Hope this helps.:D

Thank you.
I am going to use the salt rinse and the green juices, too, everyday!!!!!!!
Two questions, however.
Can pink salt be used? Or, does it have to be Celtic brand?
Can I make green smoothies instead so I can get the fiber, too?
Thank you both very much. So helpful to me. I have heard of both these ideas before, but never really stayed on them for long.

I am going to use the salt rinse .
If you do the salt rinse, be sure to rinse well afterwards, because salt is toxic.

I use one of those oral irrigation gadgets http://www.waterpik.com/ before going to bed. I put water into the little tank and add some 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to the tank. The HP kills germs. I get the HP at my local drug store when its on sale so its relatively cheap. The Water Pik with some HP in it has cut down my cavities a bunch because it cleans the food out of the teeth and zaps the germs at the same time.

Salt is toxic? why? it's part of most raw recipes!

Yes, salt is toxic. We did a huge thread on this topic recently. Why is it toxic? It is not bio-available. It is dead. Salt is just rocks. Never been alive, never been part of anything alive. Charlotte Gerson said that salt promotes cancer. Salt is an enzyme inhibitor, a potassium antagonist. Salt raises blood pressure and promotes heart disease and stroke. It causes tissue damage syndrome, kidney disease, and cellular edema. Dr. Max Gerson put ALL his patients on salt-free diets, regardless of what was ailing them. The Gerson therapy even forbids bathing in the ocean because of the salt content of the water.
"It is obvious to connect the fact of increase of cancer with the increased use of salt by the natives."

invisible, how long have you been raw? you've only been on the forum for a short period of time.
anything we do takes time... expecting results in a matter of a month will often bring disappointment.
i often brush with celtic sea salt... then rinse well. my teeth have never been happier. ;)

i believe strongly salt is not good for intake,
but i read a lot that salt is just very useful and helpful to use externally.
So i don't understand this statement

If you swim in salt water, some of the salt will be absorbed through the pores of the skin.
How is salt useful externally?

Everybody agrees that sea water is not fit to drink because of its salt content. It needs to be de-salinated to be potable. How then can the salt derived from it be fit to eat?

The bleached table salt that most people eat is toxic. Alissa explained it in her book why that is. Plus if using celtic sea salt, I was told to make sure it's raw, because some of them aren't raw. I use the pink himalayan salt bought from Alissa's store.
Exactly which salt are we talking about here that is toxic?
Anyways, I just watch ToothSoap on YouTube that by brushing with it everyday should help with the teeth enamel. Give them a call and ask if it will help with soft enamel. I would give this a try if it does. Please do check out the oil pulling thread on here. A lot of people have gotten really good results with this. I'm giving this a try as far as oil pulling goes. Wishing you the best!!

ALL of them are toxic, whether they come from salt mines or from sea water. Whether processed or not. Salt is not necessary. Bio-available sodium is necessary, but there is plenty of that in foods. Sodium deficiency is very rare.

My father had a WWII wound to his foot. It was from bomb shrapnel, and it was on his heel, and he said he could put his finger through the hole and touch the bone of his foot (yikes). He was a lifeguard in the Baltic Sea coincidentally, and he went to that beach every day and soaked his foot in that salt water. All older people seem to know that salt-water is very healing to wounds. As toxic as it may be to ingest, it also can heal. His food completely healed this way.

It is its toxicity that makes it a good disinfectant.

Victoria Butenko discovered that chewing will lead to healthy teeth. I simply cut raw vegetables and chew them slowly. I recommend also oil pulling.
Our saliva will control the bad bacteria, when you chew long enough, you will produce a good amount of it. Of course, cleaning your teeth with a special natural soap for your teeth is great. Dental flush. When you eat something acid, rince your teeth or clean them.
Really chew, chew and chew (celery, anis, etc...). It is very important for our teeth. I noticed that my teeth sensitivity diminished enourmously so something is healing.

Many long term raw fooders have serious teeth problems. You're not alone! Patrick Timpone has been through this and he has some great interviews with natural practicioners on his website at www.oneradionetwork.com . Create a free account, log in, click on "podcasts" then click on "dental healing" and listen while you chop veggies, do chores etc. You'll learn a ton and save your teeth!

>> Many long term raw fooders have serious teeth problems
Is it mainly hygienic problem or
nutrient problem ?
if it is hygienic problem, non raw or meat eaters face the same problem too.

It's both a nutrient problem and a hygenic problem. Raw fooders eat much more fruit, which is sugary and acidic, a bad hygenic combo for teeth. But that can't explain it all because some people drink lots of sugary acidic soda but don't have as bad teeth as long term raw foodists.
Your teeth get built from the inside out by minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, silica and magnesium. These minerals are abundant in the raw food diet in the form of green leafy vegetables, BUT the minerals can't be absorbed and utilized without Vitamin A, Vitamin K and Vitamin D. Where do we get these vitamins from?
Vitamin A comes from beta carotene, the orange pigment found in carrots, sweet potatoes and canteloupe. The liver converts beta carotene into vitamin A. However, almost everyone has a partially damaged liver from exposure to toxins, and cannot convert enough beta carotene into true vitamin A. Foods like milk, cod liver oil, lard, liver, butter, and egg yolks have tons of true vitamin A, but most raw foodists are vegans and don't eat these foods. Ann Wigmore, a major founder of the U.S. raw food movement recommend raw goat's milk and raw liver along with a mineral rich, high-sprout, high-wheatgrass diet.
Vitamin D is made by our bodies in response to the sun. Vitamin D helps build bone/tooth tissue and is anti-cancer. The current recommendations for vitamin D are much too low. Only people living near the equator who spend significant time in the sun get enough vitamin D from sunlight exposure. The only other ways to get vitamin D are through nettle tea and animal foods.
Vitamin K is found in two forms, vitamin K1 and vitamin K2. Vitamin K is found in plant foods. Vitamin K2 is found in animal foods and can be converted from vitamin K1 by our gut bacteria. Fermented veggies like saur kraut may contain some vitamin K2 if well made. Due to drinking chlorinated water and taking antibiotics, most people do not have great gut bacteria and make almost no vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 is the form that is active in the body and helps build bones.
Veganism, combined with high fruit/low fat, causes tooth decay in long-term raw fooders.
