I was searching the web trying to figure out what kind of fruit my favorite fruit vendor so generously gave me at the farmers market the other day and found a couple of interesting sites about exotic fruits. I thought you might like to check them out. Some I'm familiar with and others are new to me.

This link gives a little more detail about the fruit, it's flavor and nutritional content.

P.S. The fruit he gave me was passion fruit. It's so different than anything I've ever tried and the more I eat, the more I like them. It looks pretty bad inside and out but the flavor is like a sweet, tart, pink grapefruit. It's a little slimy and the seeds are light and crunchy. It's very different, but a good different.

It's so fun to explore new foods, especially when they're free! I never would have tried it, had he not given them to me.

The best ever is Mamey Sapote. Sapodilla is pretty close to that.

Ooohh, I second the Mamey sapote! Then comes Rollinia for me. And chocolate sapote.

Rollinia, sounds interesting from the description and pics. So much exotic and rare fruits to try. Fun! :)

Thanks for sharing. I'd love to try these fruits you're mentioning. What type of market would I find them in?

I still love durian best, but mangosteens are amazing too. And there's a variety of granadilla which is sweet and amazing. I grow passionfruit and granadilla (and about 50 other fruits) on my property in Panama. Lots of delicious stuff here in paradise.

both are fab cherry.chops but get them out of the fridge and into the fruit bowl - eat when ripe!

excellent advice. 'fridgerating your fruit will definitely degrade the flavor, and you want to eat it at room temperature to taste it fully too.

If I left fruit at room temperature it would either get ruined or attract bugs. Everything is refrigerated in my home once ripe.
