Ok, so i have to share this and brag a little......

I just lost my first 40 pounds. My husband lifts weights in the basement, he has assorted weights of 35, 40, 50 and 85 pounds. He called me down there to see what a 40 pound weight feels like.

I could only lift 40 pounds ONE INCH off the floor. I can't believe how heavy it is! That is what i was carrying around on my body 3 months ago. That has to be absolutely horrendous for my heart and every other organ. I can't imagine someone taping that thing to my back and having to walk around, go to work and sleep with that extra weight on me. It's really an eye opener to see your shed weight in this light. Phew!!!!

You are so awesome. I am as proud of you as you are of yourself. And does it really seem that long since we started talking about it in the weight loss thread. It doesn't seem that long to me. I think where I would be if I was doing as well as you are!!

***off to Revvell's tapping class to find out why I must need to hang onto this extra weight so much:o****

That is fantastic!! Congratulations!!

I remember way back when, a lady told when I was a bit discouraged at having lost 1/4 pound -- that that was the equivelant of one stick of butter!

You've lost the equivelant of 160 sticks of butter! Heehee! *Ü*

thank you everyone for the kind words. I keep imagining someone taping that weight to my back, how that would feel (like on The Biggest Loser). I can't even lift it off the floor and that was on my body. I love that show but even though both trainers in real life are vegans, they advocate fish, skim milk, yogurt, chicken, all of that. Think what a great thing it would be if they taught their vegan eating plan to the contestants, how much they could learn and then actually go home and keep it up the rest of their lives. In this day and age that would be remarkable. But too "radical" for the mainstream, i guess.

What a very smart way to really experience that. I bet you do feel much lighter on your feet! Good on you for doing the "work" it took to get rid of the extra baggage!

Pretty sad that they don't say they are actually vegan. I was just wondering last night (while watching the show) if they eat meat or not. Also, noticed that the contestants aren't allowed to eat bananas, grapes, or mango. Crazy, huh?

Keep up the good work.

About the Biggest Loser, i think Bob is a very recent convert to veganism, not sure about Jillian. I also noticed this last night that they were supposed to avoid bananas, grapes, and pineapple, HUH????? But in the restaurant later Jillian corrected someone and told them that the sugars in fruits are different than straight sugar, they are healthy and part of the whole package of the fruit with fiber, etc etc...... so i dont' think they believe everything that is sold on that show (like the yogurts they keep dragging out)..... of course, these meat-based foods are their sponsors. :((

You know, I thought about that last night when they were doing the ordering from a restaurant challenge. How would they handle someone who wanted to do raw on the program, and would that make a difference in their calorie intake?

Might dash off a note to Jillian about that...

i think half their sponsors are SAD food people, therefore, they can't say "eat vegan" let alone raw. They push turkey meat, yogurt, skim milk, gum, can't think of any more. I read somewhere that only 1% of the entire US population is truly vegan, can you imagine what percentage is raw? It's probably too small to count!!
