I am fasting for the first time in my life and am wondering how you break a juice fast? Does it depend on the number of days you fast or is it the same if 3 days or 14 days? I just want to make sure I do it right.

Thanks!

yup it depends... on what you are fasting on, how long etc. there are sooooo many threads on this but if you give me more details, i can help you figure out what'll be good for ya.

but honestly... take it slow. don't rush to eat hard to digest foods. stick with fruit for a few days... that'll never lead you wrong :)

Hi Aleesha

Thanks for your advice with the green juice! I tried it today and loved it and did well other then I got cramps in my legs but when I drank a couple of glasses of water the cramping left.

Anyway, I want to do a juice fast and I don't know how long. I am taking a herbal bowel cleanse too so I am not sure how I will do and for how long or when I feel my bowel will be ready for food again. The doctor today said the bowel flare up was due to trauma to my bowel when some scar tissue from my C-section that was adhered to my bowel came loose when I was doing some very heavy lifting six days ago. At least it wasn't roughage. I basically haven't been eating much of anything for 6 days now other then some broth here and there. So maybe I will continue fasting until Friday or somewhere around there, but I am not sure.

I have been trying to find some information on how to break a fast on this site, but haven't been able to find much. Maybe I am not using the right search words. Anyway, thanks so much ... you're great!

The instructions to the master cleanse fast says to use orange juice to re-start the digestive system. This is two versions of the same procedure.

http://healthandlight.com/TheMasterCleanse.pdf
HOW TO BREAK THE LEMONADE DIET

FIRST AND SECOND DAY AFTER DIET:
Several 8 oz. Glasses of fresh orange juice as desired during the day. The orange juice prepares the digestive system to properly digest and assimilate regular food. Drink it slowly. If there has been any digestive difficulty prior to or during the change over, extra water may be taken with the orange juice.
THIRD DAY:
Orange juice in the morning. Raw fruit for lunch. Fruit or raw vegetable salad at night. You are now ready to eat normally.

Ease-Out: Stopping The Master Cleanse

The Ease-out process is the exact same as the Ease-in, but in reverse. This is also another reason I choose to do the ease in, it prepared me for the ease out. You will be tempted to jump-start this process, but don’t. Consider this step as ESSENTIAL. You can become nauseated if you start to eat too soon. Please don’t underestimate the importance of this process. Don’t be scared to death either. You do risk some serious constipation or even worse – but if you eat something too soon you will likely be ok. If you are unsure at any time – consult a doctor. My words here are opinion only and should always be considered informational not medical advice.

The most important factor to keep in mind during this stage is to drink a lot of water. Especially when you are fruit and veggie juicing. If you do not make broth, and opt for juices instead, it is important you understand that the juice will have a great deal of fiber, and you need to make sure you have enough water in your system to keep you from becoming constipated.

* Day 1 – Orange Juice – 3 1-liter orange juice with 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
* Day 2 – Fruit and Veggie Juice – or Broth
* Day 3 – Fruits and Veggies
* Day 4 – Regular Diet, however you should try to eat live foods – grains, etc.
