.... just before going to bed I started coughing and my throat was VERY sore. Never had anything come up on me that quickly. The cough was coming from way down deep in my chest. Thought I'd be up all night coughing BUT, I wasn't.

Now, I know many of you have issues with bees and honey so, cover your eyes, this is not for you.

I went down and got a jar of Wild/Raw Fresh Pollen Honey from Wilderness Naturals. (Know that EVERY jar they get is different so you may not find that one) and a teaspoon. As I was watching a vid, I kept spooning some honey into my mouth ~ maybe, every half-hour or so.

This morning, I woke up, no sore throat, no coughing. I feel GREAT!

The honey is VERY dark, very molasses-like. I understand Manukkah (sp) is quite good too but I don't think this cost me as much. I need more!

O.k., that's it. Just thought I'd share that with you.

aaaaaaahhh, now I know: it must have been the vid. Don't you want to tell us which one it was? :) :D

P.S. Good to hear you feel great!

my ex husband used to make "the bomba" (he was from Italy), with honey, milk, some kind of strong alcohol, and then he heated this concoction (none of this is obviously raw) and he covered himself with tons of clothes, hopped into bed, hid under the blanket, and the next day, invariably, he was 100% normal again.

OH MY...this is just at the right time. I do not get sick. Worry a bit n fussin over stuff seems to have led me to a sore throat and earache and I am cold. I have not found relief yet. Soaked in epsom bath. Other stuff too

Will start the honey pronto....thankx.

We use to do honey, hot water and lemon juice ~ many said to add some kind of alcohol but, I don't drink. This was simpler, easier... just the honey.

I started to feel cold symptoms today. Runny nose, headache, weakness, sore throat. I prepared myself for a few days of illness, but it was actually gone within a couple of hour hours. :D
It's almost scary how well the immune system works when you've got the right fuel in your body.

I've never understood why people add honey to hot water or milk when they have a cold though. It seems to me that it would destroy a lot of the healing properties.
But then again, I don't know what the healing properties of honey really are. The scientific studies I've read has all said that the honey doesn't make a difference, and that it's actually the hot drink itself that provides a relief.

My understanding of raw honey is that it's anti-viral, anti-biotic and anti-bacterial. When someone has shingles, they could put honey on it/them to ease the itching. Worked for whatever was going on in my throat. That's all I can say. :)

That's great Revvell!!! I'm glad you feel better.
Last week my hubby came home from out of town & was sick. I was thinking I hope I don't get sick...well the next night I had horrible swollen glands. I said I knew he would make me sick. I have a big tablespoon of honey (Raw green swamp from Florida...It is my Fave!!) every night. The next morning it felt a lot better & it was totally gone by the next day. I was surely happy about that!!

Hi Folks! Glad those of you feeling better are feeling better. Could it be that it's not the honey though? French philosopher Voltaire said, "the art of medicine consists in amusing the patient, while nature cures the disease."

Growing up, whenever me or my siblings would get sick, my dad would make us drink warm chamomille tea with lots of local honey in it (his friend kept bees). He would also rub our thoat with a vapor rub and would tie a hankie around our throats.

I really hated the taste of the tea LOL but it always seemed to help. He never made it very hot, btw, because we were children.

and up here in canada there are some pharmacists and Dr's that will recommend it primarily for children.
my mom used to give us apple cider vinegar honey drink, lukewarm...yum..hated it as a kid but it works.
the basis of honey working is that besides all the good stuff in there it coats your throat:) simple but effective.

the cough syrup does the same sort of thing but has additional meds and still isnt as effective...go figure.

Last year this time I had no hayfever at all, and was drinking a lot of tea with honey. This year I haven't had much honey (until this week) and my hayfever is terrible!

I have been eating it like Revvell and it has really helped. I'd love to understand what they do to pollen to make it the anti pollen=p

Why not? Who just wants to eat honey from a spoon? Too sweet, tame it down with some hot tea.

You're right. The honey was really amusing. I feel better now. Whenever I want to be amused, I'll bring out the honey and be happier than I already am. :D

I do. It's delicious and it's raw ~ until it's put into hot water.

I've never understood why people add honey to hot water or milk when they have a cold though. It seems to me that it would destroy a lot of the healing properties. One of my doctors once told me that it's because the sweetness in the honey makes saliva glands work which helps keep the throat moist. Not sure if he was pulling my leg or not, but that's what he told me.

I'll be stocking my cabinet with the raw stuff for this year's cold and flu season (this is my first year as a semi-raw foodist).

When does the "cold and flu" season begin and end? I want to make sure I'm very prepared.

I'm sorry. That's something the media and those who sell drugs made up and people buy into that there is such a thing. Build your immune system with whole, ripe, organic raw foods and it will mostly just pass on by you. :)
