I read somewhere??? that sprouting beans such as kidney and black beans can created a toxic byproduct. That you can only sprout peas and seeds safely (like chick peas and etc.) Also that it is not safe to sprout rice or grains such as wheat or oats (only baby oats like groats).
Any comments??

Yep. Those beans need to be brought to a boil to kill the toxins. Peas, lentils, chickpeas and mung beans are safe to sprout. Also Adzuki beans. Not sure about the rest of the stuff.

Ha ha like your screen name and by-line. Maybe after including more raw in your diet it will evolve, huh?
***edited to remove reference to cooked food***
But chick peas, lentils, adzukis, and mung beans can be consumed sprouted and raw. But here's the catch. Most raw eaters I talk to don't have the digestive fire to eat them and get a stomach ache, like I do. Actually, I do just fine with sprouted mung. I' heard that sprouting them, then fermenting them breaks down the cu the c

oops, computer's not cooperating-
yes, but fermenting them on top of sprouting is a lot of work. Maybe you can pave the way and let the rest of us know how it goes.
Sprouted grains are a little controversial in the raw world. Some people say they are as bad as eating glass. I doubt it! But I also know a few people eating raw who resolved problems with neuropathy (spelling?) by including sprouted grains in their diet. So, you gotta experiment, and it'll be a lifetime of experimenting, to see what your individual constitution needs. Keep reading about raw and keep eating raw and you'll figure it out!

Bringing up an old thread here. So if I sprout my sprouting bean mix I don't have to worry about toxins? Now I'm kinda freaked out!
I just ate like a whole cup of sprouted garbanzo, adzuki, lentil and mung bean...... It was yummy but I just started sprouting them day before yesterday. Soooooo I'm not going to die am I? lol There was no warning label!

You'll be fine - that is why the mix is a sprouting mix and why there is no warning on the label.
