Hi all,

I'm new (just posted in "Who are you") and wanted to start by saying hello and greetings from southwest Florida.

I have a bit of a long challenge ahead of me as I need to loose weight (about 50+ lbs) and rid myself of my addiction to alcohol and caffine. I'm hoping to be able to jump into the raw foods lifestyle and really get out of it what I put into it. I've done triathlons and long distance open water swimming off and on for about 3 yrs, but have recently really lost my health and fitness to my bad habits.

I picked up Brendan Brazier's book The Thrive Diet and am really interested in following his 12 week diet plan. My goal is to loose enough weight by December to be able to start doing some hard core training for a half Ironman next May.

Has anyone here read his book or do endurance sports? If you ever have looked into the endurance racing industry you can see that the whole thing is SATURATED with highly processed "diet foods", from the drinks to the gels to the recovery proteins. I would really like to stay away from that and focus on eating whole raw foods.

But that's putting the cart before the horse right now...I just need to shed this weight and get healthy so I can start my training in December. I hope to be able to use this site as motivation and inspiration to stay on track, and from what I can tell it should be easy to find both here.

I'll be journaling here and hopefully will be able to keep a daily log of my food and training so you all can yell at me and keep me on track :D

Wish me luck...

I actually just picked her book up recently...can't afford the DVD's right now though :( but I have found some really good "youtube" style sites that show how to prepare raw food. I also picked up Supercharge me, Jenna Norwood's documentary describing her journey on a 30 day raw food challenge. Awesomely enough, I found out she lives just up the road from me in Sarasota and there a raw foods restraunt close by that I can venture to on the weekends!!
