Hey there! Once again if you eat a well-rounded, 100% Raw Vegan diet, AND exercise, your body will do amazing things. Like heal, sleep, etc.
There are no instant, magic foods or supplements to do this. Time and your body's reaction to being fed well are the cure-alls.

Cherries are a natural source of melatonin.
But above all I've found that staying active in the day and giving your body a need for sleep is the best way.

I just read that goji berries have been used historically to treat insomnia. Maybe try adding a couple of handfuls to your diet?

- Lettuce soup, juice, or just lettuce eaten raw ...
"All modern lettuces are descended from the original wild lettuce used by the ancient Greeks to make sleeping draughts. The sap contains a plant chemical that has an action similar to mild opiates. Though modern lettuces aren't as potent as the wild variety, a glass of … juice [with lettuce in it] will still make counting sheep redundant. The mild hallucinogenic effects of … nutmeg also guarantee sweet dreams."

Sublingual melatonin. No more than 1 mg. For occasional use only. If you take it every night your pineal gland might shut down. But the best sleep inducer is hatha yoga.
im 100% raw vegan and i have mad trouble sleeping too.
i started getting up at 7:30 to make me sleep earlier but it didnt work. now ive started getting up at 6 everyday and going for a walk for an hour to make me sleep at night but its not working...however it is still early days.
ive tried all sorts of naturopathic herbs and supplements..valerian tea, kava tea, scullcap, hops...right now im taking straight valerian sublingually and in water before bed and some other herbal remedies but im pretty sure its all in vain..i try to be IN bed by 10pm, but im wide awake and toss and turn for ages before i fall asleep. after being tired all day as well. GRR!

Maybe, just maybe you all don't need the amount of sleep that someone back in the day said we all need? Aside from my skin changing, which was the first thing I noticed when I went 100% Raw? I found I didn't need as much sleep.
hm, i wish. unfortunately thats not the case with me - im tired during the day (could fall asleep right now) and have tired spells throughout the day, but then hit 10pm i cant fall asleep, even though my body wants to. grrrr

How long have you been 100% Raw? Could be your body is transitioning? Sometimes I have soooooo much energy, it almost scares me! That's when I get the rebounder out, put Fergie on and bounce away...
DO you exercise?
hahaha! i wish i had that much energy.
ive started exercising now and ive also started getting up super early in efforts to make myself sleepy at night, but even when i get up at 6am and go for a long walk or do an hour of yoga im tired at night but by the time im in bed im wide awake...
ive been 100% raw for about 5 months and was 50% raw for about a year before that...i find it strange that the dark circles under my eyes are getting bigger and darker on a high fruit raw diet than they were on conventional vegan! argh!

I have had horrible trouble sleeping recently, waking up everyday between 4 and 6 usually on the earlier side. I dont really mind though, I make it through the day. Im going to suggest lavander oil (yes I realise this isnt a food) on a hankerchief or if you have a shower or bath in the evenings a few drops in the bath or on a flannel on the bottom of the shower so it rises with the steam. Also chamomile, maybe make a warm infusion in water. Tryptophan which can help sleep is especially high in bananas, kelp, hazlenuts, sesame and sunflowes seeds. Melatonin(sleep hormone)-containing foods include: oats, sweet corn, rice, ginger, barley, cabbage, carrot, apple, pineapple, onion, tomato, cucumber, kiwi fruit, strawberries, and asparagus.

I have a horrible time going to sleep. I will often be awake until 2am. I will say that I do not wake up 6 or 8 times a pm like a use to. This helps the circles become closer to my eyes vs my mouth:). I have a tea with ginger in it that helps & a sleepy time tea. I'm going to start using them regularly.
I can sleep until noon which I don't want to do. If I can be out by 10, I'm up & feeling good by 630 which I want!

Most nights I sleep just fine. Some nights i waske up abut 2 and can't get back to sleep. I hate that. The best thing for me to do is get up, spend about 10 minutes stretching. Then I return to bed and sleep like a baby.
