View Full Version : Weight loss?

I posted this in the teen section, but I only got one response... :D

How many of you had weight loss on a raw diet? And how long did it take you? Did you drop a couple pounds a week; was it really fast or really slow?

Also, this sounds stupid, but what did you eat? Like, over the course of a normal day? I just want some kind of idea. Should I eat just enough to not have a growling stomach? Should I eat even when I feel like I don't need to? I've heard "listen to your body", but what does that mean? If I don't have a growling stomach, but it's been 4 hours since I ate, do I still eat?

Sorry, I'm probably being annoying!

Another thing.... I'm going on vacation the end of November. I don't expect to be miraculously transformed into this hot skinny chick, but do you think I could be well on my way by that time?

Thanks so much!
Becca

I lost about 60 pounds in 6 months, which is pretty slow, but I never focused on losing weight really. I ate pretty much whatever I wanted whenever I wanted.

You should eat when you are hungry. There's really no point in starving yourself, it will only slow down the process.
And no, I don't think you should eat if youre not hungry.

I lost more in the beginning, now it's about 1 or 2lbs per week. Depends on the exercise..seriously. There are days I eat often/a lot...days that I don't eat much. I try to do a water fast once per week. Eat when you're hungry. I would keep water available & drink the minimum per day so you do not dehydrate.
Increase exercise...walking is reallly good. I don't consider a growling stomach as hungry. I feel hungry b4. If I get to that point, I'm starving-not feelng well-can be dangerous;). Not sure how often you should eat if you do not feel hungry.
Have a great trip..don't worry so much about the wt. I've found that when I stress, wt stays or gets more. I have a pair of pants I want to wear end of Nov. I try them on daily. Early June, there was a 4inch space to button them. Now, I can get them on without sucking it in. some would wear them like this but I like a little room.
2lbs a week from now to end of Nov would be about 16lbs!!!

I think 60 pounds in 6 months is phenomenal! I have lost weight on raw (but when I replapse to SAD - I gain it all back - and then some).

I say slow and steady wins the race. You want to keep it off for the long term....don't be in a hurry. If you are eating right it will come off the way it is supposed to come off.

Yeah, I don't miss them for a second. :D 1-2lbs/week is a good rate too!
It does however feel weird when friends and family admire my strong willpower. Because compared to "going on a diet", losing weight on raw is so easy, almost like cheating. Sure I still miss some of the food I used to eat, but at the same time I get to eat this other amazing food each and every day. It sure makes it easier to resist those temptations. I never forbid myself, I simply choose not to.

I didn't loose in the beginning, it took about 4-5mnths for my body to be healthy enough to loose, then maybe I lost 10 or so pounds. I don't weigh but I went down a pant size or two.

I lost 60 pounds in 5 months and now I'm pregnant or I would have kept losing. I developed a routine for myself - usually only fruit in the morning, green smoothie at lunchtime, maybe a small handful of nuts in the afternoon, and a salad or other raw dish for dinner followed by raw dessert. I did find that I needed to limit myself on the nuts/dried fruits because I am/was an emotional eater and didn't know when to stop. I also weigh pretty much every day and that helps to keep me accountable to myself. I don't worry about every 1/2 pound, but if it keeps going up over the course of a few days, then I know something's not exactly right - it could be that time of the month, or some other reason, but it also could be that I'm eating too much of certain things. I learned to use the scale not to beat myself up, but as a tool to evaluate myself and make sure I stay on track with the weight loss.

I will be going back to this plan after my baby is born, right now I'm trying to maintain as much as I can while at the same time giving the baby what he/she needs to thrive. I've gained a few pounds in the last couple of months, but I'm still 8 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight, and the baby is big and healthy, so I think I'm doing pretty good. But I also don't want my old emotional eating habits to come back now so that it will be easier to start again with the weight loss after the birth.
