Hi, my body is totally craving greens since going raw and it keeps getting stronger. I find salads difficult for me because it always makes me feel so tired, but green smoothies give me amazing energy. I guess I'm not chewing the greens well enough even though I try hard to. The thing is that I have some cavities that I got in my twin pregnancy, the twins are almost 3 months old now. I'm also seeing a dentist who is willing to work with me and there has been progress and healing noted on the x-rays, AND my teeth don't hurt me when at the end of my pregnancy I used to be up all night in pain from severe toothaches that radiated throughout my jaw to my ears, it was horrible. Anyway, sorry for getting off here, so the thing is I find I crave greens and the green seem to be key in my healing, it seems to speed it up. I need ideas for variety and to keep it enjoyable. I already have 2 quarts of green smoothie for breakfast (I also put in the same amount of fruit that I do greens, and add wheatgrass juice to it on top of the greens, water and fruit. I also add half an avocado and coconut oil, the oils really help my teeth too, without it they will become sore and sensitive). How else can I increase greens and healthy fats with adding variety and so I am not chewing salad since I always feel tired after eating salad? I also don't want to overdo the fruit, as too much fruit while pregnant is when my cavities began, never had a toothache in my life before that. I need ideas. I read somewhere of blended salads, what does that taste like? Is it palatable? What about making a green smoothie so that it tastes like a vegetable cocktail, sort of like V8? Does anyone have a recipe like that? Is there such thing as a blended green soup maybe? I've seen a recipe that includes lots of parsley in with tomatoes and avocado, but I'm nursing and can't do the parsley as it can dry up milk. BTW, speaking of milk, my milk has gone up due to the greens and my babies are growing so beautifully on it! Anyway, would love your thoughts, especially if you've btdt. THANKS!

I would suggest you do a search here for what you are asking for. There are LOTS of smoothie recipes here.

Also, a smoothie IS basically a blended salad. In my book, I call it a refrigerator smoothie since basically it's all the leftover veggies you have in your fridge, plus some sweet fruit to make it palatable.

I usually have green soups (savory smoothies) daily. Have a few recipes at the link below and others if you have any requests.

Thanks, I'll look it up. I am specifically looking for blended greens ideas that doesn't include fruit. Like I said, I'm already including alot of fruit via my morning green smoothies and need to make sure I don't have too many fruits. Yet, I need the greens and healthy fats, but don't do well on salad. I hope that makes sense.

Do "savoury smoothies" and blended salads taste good, what do they taste like? I guess I'll just have to give it a try.

Any raw soup is a savory smoothie. But here's some that I like that I drink--

salsa verde--water,cilantro, avacado, lime, garlic, jalapeno or serrano pepper, salt

bloody mary--haven't made one in a long time..water,tomato, celery, bell pepper, hot pepper, splash of acv or a lot of lemon juice, garlic, horseradish..or any combo thereof

vaclare (poster friend who *invented* this)---water,spinach & tomato, salt--can be a spicy vaclare with a hot pepper added

My favorite soups are snowdrop's cheezy corn chowder and carmella's cream of tomato--and chili (not so drinkable=)

I'm looking forward to hearing about others!

There is a sticky on the main page of this forum (sorry but using phone and cannot cut and paste) that has about 70 green smoothie recipes. Check it out!

Thanks! That sounds delicious Thick, I'm definately going to try those out! And I'll check out the smoothie recipe sticky, I noticed it but assumed it was for sweet green smoothies only.

I found a recipe for a blended salad, it's got baby greens, cucumber, tomato, avocado, bit of celery and spice and garlic. I'm eating it right now, it's not bad!

You might want to try oil pulling to help your teeth. Basically, you swish a tablespoon of oil in your mouth for 20 minutes first thing in the morning, then spit it out and brush well. After I brush I floss and that is it for the day! The hygienist was amazed at the state of my gums when I had my teeth cleaned after about 6 months of oil pulling. Also, the cleaning was much, much quicker. Try doing a search to see what you can find here; I would think there's some info, but I don't know for sure.
