I have a big ol' bunch of celery and want to be able to use some of this in smoothies as well as eating stalks of it with dips and pates, for variety.
Was thinking of lemon juice, apples, a couple of dates, greens and celery for a smoothie combo. Has anyone tried something like this?

I don't remember doing it much, but I would say sure, why not? Maybe just cut it in pieces before putting it into the blender so that it will blend up more easily and not leave long strings (depending on which type of blender you have).

Yup, I always try to use celery in GSs! Celery is great for teeth health, full of a bunch of different mineral salts.

I use it in my stock standard GS of greens, orange juice, bananas.

Absolutely. I even use celery in my almond milk to give it a little bit of a salty flavor!

I've been using celery in my smoothies for over a year now. Wanted to make sure I was getting enough sodium.

In VB's GS book there is a recipe for cucumber soup and I think that it takes celery, avocados, etc. It is a savory recipe. I think that celery may be more well suited to savory because of salt content.

Hi cara4art,

Well,I have had such a craving lately for celery and honestly, I couldn’t get enough of it this week. I think my body was probably lacking something and because of this I craved celery. Celery belongs to the same plant family as carrots, parsley, fennel, caraway, and anise. It is in season throughout the summer months and the stalks, leaves, root and seeds are used as a flavour enhancer in foods and seasoning's. Celery is a good source of sodium, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, vitamins A, B1, B2, C, iodine, magnesium and copper.

Thanks

Cara4art the items you listed are my staple smoothie. I don't use dates though and I throw in some cucumber and some oranges too. Sometimes honey if the oranges aren't sweet enough. So yeah, you can put celery in GS!!

I love celery in my green smoothies and soups. I find it satisfies my salt cravings. Celery and cucumber are a favorite of mine :) I find it also goes well with a mix of berries (that sweet/salty thing).

You can use whatever you want in green smoothies. They don't even have to be green.

I like green smoothies with celery, frozen raspberries and something creamy like coconut butter, bananas or avocado.

I used to always get the Waldorf juice at Wild oats juice bar, which was apple, celery and lemon. I always had them put a shot of ginger in it.

Sometimes I'd order two of them. :D

One of the best smoothies I ever made was apple, kiwi, celery and lime.

I love banana, celery, and fresh ginger green smoothies :)

They are especially great after a workout- replacing electrolytes, easy to digest, refueling, muscle recovery, etc. Plus the ginger is great for soreness and soothes the system.

Usually, my ratio is 2 bananas : 1 celery stalk : approx. 2 tbs. of ginger. Add water if you like.
