Ive made threads about feeling clogged before from foods such as rice cakes etc. I can see why i felt clogged from them but im pretty certain grapes are making me feel clogged up as well. Over the last couple of weeks ive been struggling to go to the toilet and this is a similar time frame to where ive started eating grapes everyday.
I ate loads of grapes on Saturday and by the night time my stomach was really hurting but i just couldnt go to the toilet. Tonight i got home and before having a main meal i had some grapes, pretty much straight away i got that clogged feeling in my stomach and im not going to be able to go to the toilet for a while.
Is there anything in grapes that could cause this? I find this abit odd as i thought grapes would be fine to eat.

Grapes should pass through your body easily. What else are you eating?

The first thing i have every morning is a green smoothie, do you think it would be more beneficial to have some water first?

Lots of fruit and some veg, fruits such as strawberries, pineapple, apples etc. The veg im having at the moment are things like broccoli and carrots. I guess the only thing i can do is give up grapes for a few days and see how i feel, it does seem rather strange though if it is indeed the grapes causing problems.

YES! Start off with water first. Like at MINIMUM 8 ounces...more if you can.

That's interesting.
I'm on about day 40 or so of being 100% raw.
Last night, I felt the worst I've ever felt since I've been raw.
Why? I gorged on green grapes. Afterwards, I felt so bloated that I could barely move!
It didn't affect anything in terms of regularity, but it was definitely strange. I remember thinking, "How can I feel this terrible on raw food??" The only thing I could do was go to bed, even though it was early in the evening.
I guess no one is supposed to eat THAT many grapes in one sitting. :)

drink water in the am and maybe add more to the smoothie so it's thinner. Whjen I first started doing the smoothies, I didn't go to the bathroom for 3 days!! My back was hurting, I'm a twice a dayer. When I started thinning them out, it worked better. Everyone's body is different. Add some melon to the smoothie.

Grapes are an Excellent Food, they contain No Clogging Properties. There MUST be some underlying problem. How's your excercise routine?

Grapes are notoriously rich in sugar, that is prone to fermentation (hey, how do you think they make wine ;-)
It may be a case of fermentation in the digestive tract. Don't eat massive amounts !

At the moment there are cooked foods in my diet, ive not been able to give it all up yet. Im getting really confused by this whole clogged up feeling, i was eating great over the last couple of weeks with fruit, veg etc but felt clogged up. This weekend was terrible, chocolate and everything bad, yet i went to the toilet quite alot and felt great. Why would this be?
Does anyone know if coconut oil will be able to help with a clogged stomach?

because your body goes into "get the heck outta here" mode when you overload it with cooked when you've been eating raw. people take it as a good thing... i take it as a negative.

I find that I do better if I sequence my eating. I like to start my day with some water. Then when I feel a little hungry I like to eat fruit and sometimes this fruit is grapes. After the fruit meal I like to wait a little while before eating something else especially if the something else consists of more solid foods. I find that fruits do better when eaten alone by themselves rather then just before or as part of a bigger meal. Hope this helps.

do you eat organic grapes? There are LOTS of pesticides in grapes nowadays.

Nopes, im finding alot of foods are making me clogged up now though so im not sure what the problem is. Could probiotics possibly help with a clogged up stomach?

i would look at what you are eating that isn't raw... rather than at the raw foods in your diet. chances are... the cooked foods are causing your problem. ;)

I had some organic red seeded grapes yesterday, the first time in a long time, and they made me a bit gassy. And I've been 100% for 27 days now :), and there was nothing else different in my diet yesterday.
I will definitely still eat them, but just something I noticed and wanted to share with others in this thread who seem interested in grape digestion.

You could be very right. Ive noticed a problem with apples as well making me feel clogged, not so long ago i used to eat them absolutely fine. I'll have to try to sort out what else im eating that could be effecting me in this way, hopefully ill figure it out soon.

I agree with the fermentation idea.....your digestive tract is actually clogged with cooked food, and the grapes get in there and can't move down like they should and so start fermenting where they are, causing bloat and distress.
Try eating them only on an empty stomach and see if that helps.

EZRider is correct! Fruit should be eaten alone on an empty stomach. Then wait a couple or three hours before you eat any other food. That way, the fruit can't ferment, because it has moved out of the stomach. Eat only fruit in the morning and then don't eat it again during the day if you are eating other foods. Drinking lots of water has been mentioned and that is important to do when you first get up in the morning because the body dehydrates overnight. If grapes are eaten correctly, I don't think they can cause the problem.
Getting all the cooked food out of your diet will help, too. What kind of cooked food are you eating? Are you vegan, or are you eating animal flesh, dairy, grains, etc?
Good luck.

Juicy fruit on an empty stomach should be out of there in less than an hour.
melon is about 20 minutes, other fruits 30-45.

I didnt eat anything today till lunch time and all i had was a peach, i felt fine until i ate that but afterwards that clogged feeling came once more. Later in the day when i had some pineapple that pretty much finished the job and i was completely clogged up once more.

I really do believe now that the fiber in the foods ive been eating is the problem. Ive read before when you are clogged up you should avoid fiber as it will make the situation worse. Does anyone have any ideas how long it is needed to avoid fiber before everything sorts itself out and it is then okay to start eating my fruits again?

Fiber is a "problem" only because your intestines are not working properly. You probably need MORE fiber, and lots more water. Maybe add some Smooth Move tea to help your bowel get more toned up. Fiber is very important in the diet but some people who have been eating SAD for a long time do have a hard time digesting it at first.
You can't be raw and cut out fiber.....impossible. Unless you are doing a juice fast.
So, really up your water, try some Smooth Move, maybe some digestive enzymes, and see what happens. Also, perhaps try an intestinal cleansing product. You may be backed up due to parasites.

I tend to drink a fair bit of water so i dont think thats a problem when i am eating alot of fiber. I really dont think i could manage more fiber at the moment, i ate one apple whilst at work today and it pretty much destroyed my stomach for the day.
I think some cleansing needs to be done somewhere. A couple of months ago i was just on a high fruit and veg diet, going to the toilet around 4 times a day so i could defiently handle it and its not just something ive started from a bad diet, ive been trying to eat healthy for quite a long time. I just dont understand why this is happening, ive read sites recommend high fiber when you are clogged up whilst others recommend high fat. I cant do high fiber as it makes me feel awful whilst high fat makes my skin oily and make my acne even worse :(

I asked this before and you didn't answer. These are important considerations. If you are raw vegan and still having trouble after all this time, I suggest a visit to your Dr. You first wrote about this 6 weeks ago and I really think the problem should have resolved itself. If you are not raw vegan, I would think that's the problem.
