Ive heard several raw foodists say that if you dont have a dehydrator, you could use your grill, however leave it on the bottom shelf and leave the grill door open.
And keep touching the food just to make sure its not getting too hot.
Sounds like a good idea.

I personally think a dehydrator is a "safer" way...I don't dehydrate over 105 degrees F.

I would never consider using a grill. It's unsafe, especially if you have children and wastes a lot of energy. My "d" stays at 118.

Why 105? I do 115 and nothing is ever "hot"

'cuz I learned in Alissa's book, page 282, to set the thermostat no higher than 110. She keeps hers between 95 and 105. It just stuck with me.

Ani Phyo believes that since over 104 is painful to the touch via humans that you shouldn't heat your food over that point. Some people say 106. I've heard 116 is the bye-bye-enzymes limit. I don't have a dehydrator but I'd stick around the 100-106 range. There's no solidified rule, but we all hear that enzymes are sensitive lil darlins, so it can't hurt to stay on the safe side of things and stay low like limbo.

I've been doing mine at 118 for about 14 years now. The food never gets that hot and it is not painful to touch in the least. Rather than believe someone else, test it yourself. If it works for you, fine; if not, fine.
People take jacuzzi's in 110 so 104? Nah.

Sounds like a good idea.It does, believe it or not.
If you'd be able to maintain good temp control and maybe if the propane use wasn't too bad.
I say try it and report back.
