My boyfriend came home with an early birthday present for me.

KITTENS!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh my are they ever so cute!!!!!! (i'll post pics later!!) I love them so much already!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So a few questions for cat owners.

First of all, they unfortunately came with fleas :( I read one post saying powdered sage works? Or powdered eucalyptus, rosemary, fennel, yellow dock, wormwood, and/or rue? Avon skin so soft - I'm pretty sure this is not a natural product. Cedar oil - is this ok for cats or not? Maybe a few drops in a bath and then rinse? Has anyone tried these?
I have my kittens away from carpet so no worries there.

Litter boxes ? They will be indoor kitties. Safest liter to use would be....?

Are any of your cats vegan ? What is everyones opinion on this ?
I plan on getting them started on green smoothies as soon as I can. They are 8 weeks old is this too young for green smoothies + chlorella?

If anyone knows of an awesome website that sells natural toys and products for cats please let me know I just want them to have the best life and keep them uninterested in wanting to go outside!

Thanks :)

Though I am vegan, I recognize that cats are true carnivores. So.. they eat NutroMax cat food.

Ironically.. when one of my cats was showing, he was on a raw food diet. I ended that when he stopped showing but should have continued! It was special raw meat patties for cats..

I think this is important to remember. I know that we sometimes get caught up in our own little world and think what's best for us is best for all things, but it isn't. All other animals (dogs and cats especially) are not made like us (digestive system more pointedly) and should not be on the same diet as humans. Please don't force a vegan diet on your beautiful little kittens just because you are raw vegan, Please. Do some research on what nutrition kittens would actually be getting if there were being nursed by their mother and then what nutrition they would be getting if they were in the wild. Or what they would be eating in a more natural environment for them, not humans. Vegan food would not be a natural food stuff for kittens or cats.

Just my little rantette and my opinion, since you asked for opinions.

what about vaccines for pets ?
Any comments on this ?

Our kittens havent gotten any and we're leaning towards not giving them shots just because we wouldn't want to give anything vaccines but have no real info on them....

please don't use skin so soft or any essential oils on your kitens, they can be toxic.

didnt use skin so soft or essential oils.
we got a product from the vet for the fleas and have given them baths.

I dont think i'd get them fixed... they are indoor cats and its 2 females that we have. no reason to get them fixed right?

they will go into heat, be miserable, yowl, and any toms in the hood will be peeing on your porch, car tires, and yowling all night. so yes, get them fixed.

I think we are going to get them spayed. Kinda makes me sad. But we just dont want them spraying everywhere and be meowing constantly.... But I feel bad.

It also makes me sad to spay my babies, but they're much happier. We waited to spay one of our female kittens, and she started yowling and running around like crazy. She wouldn't stop, and the vet told us that she wouldn't until she mated. So, we had her spayed. Also, the vet informed me that spayed and neutered dogs live longer, but I don't know if that applies to cats. Good luck with your new babies!
