Hi,

I'm starting Raw yet again tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone could provide some useful testimonies about the following health problems I'm hoping raw will fix:

1. Addiction to Sugar & Caffiene (these are my staple foods)- EEK!
2. Depressive periods as part of a personality disorder.
3. Major hormonal imbalance- ovarian cysts, severe peiod pain, e.t.c.
4. Lack of energy and concentration/ Mental Fog
5. Weight Gain- I need to lose around 10-15lbs.

Thanks,

Hey! So you say you are going Raw again? My advice? Do a 30-day 100% Raw challenge AND STICK TO IT! REALLY STICK TO IT! And then keep on eating Raw and healing and I bet a body part everything you've mentioned will (eventually) heal.

About the coffee addiction, from a coffee addict ...

This is going to be tough (least it was for me). Sometimes I felt like I might as well eat SAD food since I had a coffee that day and 'ruined' my raw day. DO NOT GET LIKE THAT! lol. Stick to the raw food even if you have a coffee here and there...

I knew that one day I was going to quit caffeine but I also knew that it was going to be the hardest and one of the last things for me to quit. As you detox and become healthier and healthier you will one day feel that caffeine REALLY DOES do harm and no good to your body and mind.

2.5 years later I have finally quit caffeine. It was a long hard battle that took many many times of quitting... :o

Keep your food raw and your body and your mind will tell you

I don't know much about the rest of your concerns but I think if you give raw food a chance you could be give your concerns a chance to heal, overcome, gain(energy) and lose(weight) ;)

There's so much support here !!

RawSar, that's some really nice advice about caffeine. I don't have an addiction to caffeine personally, but sometimes I fall and eat SAD foods and need to hear someone say something similar, even though I really know this in my head. I know it sounds silly that we need to hear someone tell us over and over and over again, but that's how we learned in school and as adults, that's how we still learn. Our peers really mean a lot more to us than we'd like to think.

I just think that hearing from people on this forum that even if you fall during the day that you need to stick with it and that drinking coffee, or eating a SAD food is no reason to ruin your entire day, is needed more often than not.

Just my two pence.

Keep it simple. Surround yourself with raw at home, work or school and when out. Start you day with a green smoothie and definitely as a caffeine replacement.

1.) You can feed you addiction to sugar by gorging on fruits!! And absolutely no guilt about it. I'd ween myself off of caffeine slowly instead of cold turkeying (unless you have the willpower). Much easier physically and mentally to progress by transition rather than displacement. Maybe switch to a green tea?

2.) Eating raw foods can definately potentially help with depression and other mental disorders. Often times we have an imbalance in our body that causes disharmony. If the imbalance has festered for a long time your thoughts and emotions might unconsciously start to get attached to the negativity (this has happened to me with 1.5 year long severe sinus pressure and digestive issues). Once you clear the imbalance though you may get instant mental relief (because unconsciously we've associated ourselves with the negativity. Once it's gone balance is restored)

3.) In a proper diet hormones can definately be controlled.

4.) Mental fog is terrible. I used to have it really bad, and was so confused as to why I had it because I knew that it wasn't a part of who I was. You would be surprised how many mental "illnesses" are caused by not getting the right nutrients, improper digestion, or improper elimination. Stuff like this can def. clear.

5.) Your weight will go exactly where it needs to. If your diet is very bad/sad, or even mediocrely, you would be surprised at how much weight you can lose switching to a healthful diet. You can lose noticable weight in just days.

Starting Raw Tomorrow: Advice?
Don't wait until tomorrow. Start NOW.

Make a commitment move by throwing out the old dead food and buy nothing but live food from now on.

Eat a variety of raw foods so that you don't get cravings.
