My body is seriously rejecting ANY food in the evening. I do okay if I wait like 3 hours to go to bed after eating dinner, but if it's anything less than that my body doesn't handle food in my stomach & the next day I feel bad not to mention I hate waking up NOT hungry & then it completely throws off my work outs so I'm working out less b/c I feel bad more often than not.
My dinners are usually a dinner size salad with veggies, maybe like a half avacado, no dressing....their pretty simple. I may sprinkle a few nuts or raisins but not always/ or a couple pieces of fruit.
It's like the longer I'm raw the less food my body needs in the evening only. Throughout the day I definetly am more hungry.
So any advice on how to NOT eat after that time? I think it's a mind over matter thing, but I could really use some encouragement here. I tend to think "oh crap I gotta eat this lettuce or mushrooms (or something) before they go bad" even if they're a lighter food apparently my body doesn't want it.

How about a smoothie instead?

How about a smoothie instead?
Do you think that would settle better?

Make a small one and try it. Smoothies are already broken down for your body to assimilate them better.

How about going to the gym instead? It's fun too :)

I find if I only eat fruit in the evening then I do not have any problems but if I eat something more complicated that it effects my sleep. Stick with fruit.

Thanks Sport!!! I think fruit or fruit smoothies will be the best thing for me. Maybe my body is just going through something where it doesn't want to digest a mix of food in the evening.

Try to eat s-ing "heavy" as late as possible (around 7 p.m.) and then go to the gym after that........or do something else you love doing,- a nice walk, go to the cinema, meet friends etc. I'm sure you have some good ideas yourself, just experiment and see what works best for you.

The only reason you eat late is because you don't want to waste food? You are not hungry? Not sure what the problem is besides your thinking?. I mean you know your thinking is irrational and your body is not hungry so why eat or have smoothies, etc. Just do what you are doing,(am i missing something, this is simple, whats the problem??).Your body is doing brilliantly. I think it needs to rest. Theres many healthy people that advocate not eating after 4pm as a rule. As a matter of fact the "oldest man in the world" presently (113yrs old), was just interviewed and he says he never has dinner.
Soooo, not sure again, what the problem is.
In loving support, keep on doing what your doing, (without the worry of wasting food, just leave that thought):))

I think it may be more complicated than that.

I'm with C4raw. I don't understand the issue either. I'm looking at the responses thinking they might give me a clue. Nope!
For me, (and many I work with) not eating after 6 or so would be a great thing! I eat late, I don't sleep well.
What's interesting to me is, people keep saying "listen to your body" and yet, your body is saying "don't feed me" and others here are saying "feed it". So, which is it? "seriously rejecting" means, "I'm not hungry"... so, what's the problem? Not hungry, don't eat! Seems simple to me.
So any advice on how to NOT eat after that time? Uh yeah, don't put food in your mouth. I'm confused. Your op makes no sense to me.

I think it may be more complicated than that.
Explain it then because I don't get it.

I agree with Revvell that it's ideal to stop eating early, especially if that's what your body wants. You're suppose to wait to sleep enough hours after eating regardless and stick with easy-to-digest foods. So it's best not to have avocado and nuts unless it will be hours before you sleep, preferably after some exercise.

I don't know if this will help, but i would make myself a sign and place on my food cupboard or fridge. "Close " opening hours 5am to 7pm.
Have a plan. In the beginning, i had to make sure i had some food ready to eat when i arrived from work. Study your weakness and have a plan for them.
I am the same way, i cannot eat in the evening.

Gladly: What I can see from what the OP appears to have difficulty with is stopping eating after 7 - you can't just solve the problem by saying "don't put food in your mouth" - it may be deeper than that. Possibly, one of the reasons this is an issue for the OP is to do with emotions/aversion maybe even mildly self destructive behaviour. It could be something he/she feels is getting out of hand lately and doesn't feel it is as simple as just "stop eating" because obviously, if it was as easy as that - they would be doing that. Do you understand/ see where I am coming from now?
As I said, this may be the case. If it's not I apologise to the OP for false assumptions, but I know this has actually been the case with friends I know.

As someone who's been working with clients and students emotionally for over 23 years now, yup! I see where YOU'RE coming from. Not where the op's coming from. I work with THE person who has the issue, not someone else's interpretation... as correct as you may be... thank you for your interpretation.
On the other hand, since her body is "rejecting food", it could be as simple as "don't eat". Everyone keeps saying "listen to your body".... well, it's speaking loud and clear!

In that case, you should be able to understand how some persons may have difficulty just avoiding food when they should?
I agree that the solution would be to not eat, but they are obviously having problems doing that, so I do not think it is just that simple.

I deal with late pm eating when DD goes to bed & I'm alone. It's comfort.
This is my new plan...have water vs food. This may help move things better, less calories. Add a little juice if you need. Go to bed earlier if possible to get you mind off of it.

The problem ISN'T me not being hungry in the evening B/C I AM but it's just super sensitive with what I put in my mouth. I may not be super hungry but I am. Sorry if I confused multiple people!
As far as me feeling like I need to eat the food I have in my fridge I will just buy less food so I don't think that way. I put that down in my post just showing that it isn't complex food that I'm eating - it may be some veggies that I eat but for some reason they don't settle well.
Hope that clarifies things!

O course I do. It's what my program (http://bit.ly/V1Cao) is about.
Asking for clarity in THIS situation and not assuming I know what the op is talking about specifically. The "mays" and "could be's" aren't specific enough to give an intelligent response.

OK. -- That's all I was going to say but apparently that's too short to post:O.
