Hello All,
I have been trying to read up on fasting and cleansing info and get some solid advice on how to start a fast and cleanse.
A little background: I am a former Division I tennis player who does a lot of travel with coaching and spend a lot of time in South America. I feel quite good in South America and maintain a nice diet for the most part, with a lot of natural food and good local juice. Recently, when I come back to the US, I find my stomach hurts a lot, I have some periods of bad stomach/small amount of diarrhea/gas, and a bit of a funny taste in my mouth sometimes. I am in very good fitness from tennis, but now feel bloated and am desperately wanting to calm these stomach problems. Even the musculature in my lower abs looks almost swollen or pudgy (very rare as I have very low body fat). Some people told me maybe it's the water I drink in S. America, but I have NEVER had problems with the water there.
Anyhow, I was thinking to do a cleanse or fast and don't know if they go hand in hand and have ZERO idea how to do them. I work about 35 hours a week teaching and have to do a lot of hitting with my kids, so I don't know if this presents a problem. I would be looking to do something like 3-7 days from what I have been reading. Do I cleanse while fasting? I have read about some cleanse drinking some sort of lemonade mixture? Will fasting while coaching be to tough on my muscles without protein intake? Is the cleansing mix you take from GNC bad or is there a general product people take?? I am a total newb to this, but am looking for stomach relief, eliminate bloating, and improve overall health. I am very disciplined and can follow any routine, even if it's tough as nails.
