Is there a way to fast, either juice or water without losing weight? I need to be able to heal health issues, but can't lose more weight since I've already become underweight. Is this possible?

I don't know the answer to your ?, but you might want to post this in the fasting/juicing section to get the best information. Wishing you the best.

Can't imagine how it would be unless you're planning on building muscle during the fast. Figure this ~ food can add weight. No food? No weight. Stands to reason.

So basically I can't heal illnesses without dealing with even more weight loss even though I'm undereweight?

Many have healed themselves by just going 100% raw. Fasting is not necessarily necessary (if that makes sense). I figure if folks can heal cancer, diabetes, etc. with 100% raw, organic food, then most anybody can heal anything that way. Even switching to 100% raw, most will eliminate excess body fat, then it'll restore itself with higher quality cells.

I agree with Revvell. If you DON'T want to eliminate weight, then go 100% Raw. Why are you wanting to fast? To heal health issues? 100% Raw foods will too and probably quicker, easier on your body.

ive already been raw 100% for a long time (years). so now what? I've also modified my diet many many times. done colonics. fasting is the only thing left.

Not necessarily. There are many reasons for illness including environmental factors. Also, I'd suggest you do some writing/journaling and find out why your body feels the need to be ill. What's it trying to tell you?

There's a book out called "The Presence Process". Might want to check it out. Louise Hay and Byron Katie are good folk to look at/listen to as well.

Good luck to you.

Fasting IS possible without losing weight. I f you've been raw for such a long time, it will work even faster. Sometimes you can do a water fast and not lose any weight at all...depending on the mindset as well. Get well soon.

Hello notwell :)
Are you juice fasting to detox? Can you give us more details?
Most chances are that fasting will make you lose weight, but I would recommend you to ask a doctor to keep track of your general health while fasting. (better wait until you stabilize your weight and gain your energy back)

The best combination i found for detox is the "psyllium + Bentonite clay" this mix will help you get rid of toxins and heal by making you absorb nutrients more efficiently, and the good thing is that there's no need to fast for that.

Here's a link with more explanations: http://www.astrodreamadvisor.com/Body_B&P.html

Hope it will help, good luck!

Notwell: You should perhaps consider juice "feasting" Juice feasting is where you are keeping to juices but drinking larger quantities than you would if you were fasting. This way, you are getting more calories as well as nutrients for healing, but not all of the fibre which inhibits some of the absorbsion. I have read numerous articles on the benefits of juice feasting for healing purposes. You also might want to consider supplementation with chlorella and spirulina as these provide quite a few nutirents.

Keep in mind that healing is requires not only detoxing, but a rebuilding as well. You may still loose some weight on the fast, but if you resume eating normally, you body will adjust back up to its normal weight.

I recently did a short fast with primarily green juices and I really felt great. I am going to do another short fast.

I'm curious, what is your health issue? I've done a great deal of reading up on health and raw nutrition and I would be albe to give you some more guidance if I knew what the issue was (or at least direct you to a source).

Also, have you read Gabriel Cousen's Rainbow Live Food Cuisine? He addresses a number of health issues and their raw "cures" for them. Paul Nison has a number of books out related to colon health.

I just thought of one more idea that might help. Consider instead of fasting, that you have a veggie juice (mostly green) first thing in the morning. This way, if you didn't eat after 5p.m. the previous day, you would be taking in the juice on an empty stomach and abosob it more effectively. Then you can have meals as you choose starting a couple of hours later. This way, you can still eat but have some of the detox and nutrient abosobtion of a fast without actually fasting.

Also, from my reading, and attending lectures, etc. Many of the raw health practioners don't advocate water fasting because it is too hard on the body and sometimes less effective in detoxing then a juice fast.
