I have found a source of black sapote (chocolate pudding fruit) and am wondering if they can be frozen.

Anybody know of they can? They are so wonderful I want to buy lots while they are in season and freeze them so I have them on hand.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Klomasius, How I wish I could find them here in the US. I heard they are wonderful! I have been trying to find a source, but haven't had any luck. I have never tried one and hope to someday. Are they as good as they say they are?

Barb, they are much better when eaten fresh in the tropics, but the ones we get transported here are still fantastic as a cacao substitute.

My partner, who sometimes gets a reaction to combos of cacao and other things, does not react to them so I can enjoy a chocolate treat with him using them.

They are also fantastic blended with young thai coconut or banana and dried as fruit rollups.

Honestly, if you get the opportunity to travel to the tropics where they and other tropical fruits are grown, take the chance! I'm in heaven when I'm eating tropical fruit in the warm jungle.

If you'd like to find a supplier, try typing 'black sapote', 'chocolate sapote' or 'chocolate pudding fruit' into google and adding your town or city. Also look for large fruit and veg wholesale markets in your area.

Good luck!
